Good to hear. Hopefully this means a tablet, if there is an event at the end of the month.

Meh on the tablet. Yeah on the Netbook.

Looking forward to seeing Steve in action again, but hopefully not to just tote around "Jesus-phone 3G, revision 1".

It's hilarious to read people climbing up on their high horses and proclaiming that Jobs is "no longer the public face of Apple" and that the days of him doing keynotes are "over".

How do you people know this? That's right, you don't. You know as much, or realistically as little, as the rest of us. No-one here has sat down and spoke with Steve Jobs or his doctors, no-one here knows his actual physical and mental state, nor his thoughts on returning to Apple and his goals in doing so.

So until he does, or indeed does not return, try and keep the factual sounding but ridiculously uninformed posts to a minimum.

There is NO way Apple/AT&T would not allow any iPhone user to upgrade to the new iPhone. I bought the original and the 3G on their release dates, and will do the same on the V3 phone.

As a matter of fact, I just looked under my AT&T account online and it shows that I can upgrade my iPhone today which wasnt the case a couple months ago. No waiting...Obviously they cleared the requirement as they did with the 3G to allow current iPhone users to upgrade at the product launch.

IMO this is how Apple operates and they got AT&T to agree to it for the iPhone. Ofcourse Apple wants you to update your MBP or iMac with the latest revisions and the iPhone is no different. For any other phone I am sure it's probably different, you buy a non apple phone you keep it for your contract term.

The key seems to be being a current iPhone user to be able to upgrade ahead of your contract.

This is why I dont understand why the constant mentioning of launch dates coinsiding with contract availability dates. There is just no correlation. None.

He's old, has had treatments of two lethal forms of Cancers, cant digest Proteins, is literally starving to death and cant possibly sit in a court room for more than an hour.. that is the Fk about "dead man".
He deserves rest!

@FJ218700:
True, but again in benefit of Apple, he probably would've liked to stay at home or a non-attending Chairman or something if people had faith in the company to perform without him! Clearly thats not the case if an announcement of 6 months med leave plunges the stock to ~$80 from ~$120.

Jeez, selective reading and interpretation much? He's "old"? Maybe 150 million people in the US might disagree, and I'm one of them. "Two forms of cancer"? No, only one, and it was the survival form. Stock price plunge? Did you not hear about the Depression? It was in the papers and on TV...And take his lawyer's comments regarding his appearance in a municipal court with a big grain of salt--he just didn't want to be there for a minor issue in his life.

Yep, I checked last week and discovered that I was eligible for upgrade for my 3G iphone bought on release day.

Why would you Microsoft to die? If your company is doing ok, isn't that enough? Apple will never be able to kill Microsoft. The best chance they had to do that was during the Vista period. Windows 7 is coming. Project Natal looks amazing. Apple has its own objectives and schedule. Apple is, above all, seeking to make money. They don't care thta much about share market as long as they make money. They don't need to destroy Microsoft as long as they make money.

As I recall the Beta of Vista looked pretty good too  7 is too KDE 3.5 like for its own good.

Project Natal is just a 3D version of the EyeToy. Its gonna be a gimmick and not the Wii kind.

Why don't you and all your friends go outside and have some breaths of fresh air?

You're in too close, you'll get nozzle damage when the event fires off. :D

Well, that's funny. Mine still says I have to wait 18 months in order to get subsidized pricing. You must mean the $399/499 "upgrade" pricing. If so, then yes, anyone can "upgrade" then.
