I'd like to see Phil demo video conferencing by calling Steve (who would be chilling by a pool somewhere)

Steve… Steve Jobs? Chilling by a pool somewhere?
I don't think that is what he does.
Those black turtlenecks and jeans get a tad sticky in the heat… never mind being hell to swim in.
;)

But Steve Jobs still have to repair his biggest mistake! Microsoft is still leading and he's the only one who can kill Microsoft.

Why would you Microsoft to die? If your company is doing ok, isn't that enough? Apple will never be able to kill Microsoft. The best chance they had to do that was during the Vista period. Windows 7 is coming. Project Natal looks amazing. Apple has its own objectives and schedule. Apple is, above all, seeking to make money. They don't care thta much about share market as long as they make money. They don't need to destroy Microsoft as long as they make money.

Steve will call Phil Schiller during the demo of the new iPhone's video calling feature. Just you watch.

And remember, I called it first.

Exactly. That is the most credible prediction I've read about the iPhone V3 release thus far. This is a very likely possibility and one that would ooze and intensify profound gadget-lust. Everyone should keep a sharp eye for this.

The Wall Street Journal's sources claim that, true to Jobs' style of showmanship, Apple is preparing for his return to coincide with a media event of some sort.
iPhone? Updated notebooks (maybe not since I don't see major changes in the lines)? (Mini-)tablet? Pro Apps? Interesting.

SJ was on his HS swim team.

Yeeees. But that is not quite the same thing as him lounging by the pool side with a lei around his neck, a Mai Tai in his free hand while chatting to Phil Schiller on the *gasp* new iPhone.

Is it? ;)

Which is kind of what FJ218700 was picturing in his post (#18).

What disease makes you unable to absorb protein? I know celiac makes you unable to handle a very specific protein called gluten, but I'm not sure about protein in general. Anyhow, glad to hear he's better, he's probably got a kick of energy after being cleared to tear down the jackling house.

With a new iphone (allegedly) set to be unveiled on Monday, what sort of public event could Apple orchestrate at the end of June? WWDC from June 8-12 followed by a SJ return public event just two weeks later? I'm not buying the fact that there would be a separate media event just for his return if there isn't any major product announcement to go along with it.

Maybe they'll hold off on the iPhone updates until EOM when Jobs returns and he will handle that 'media event' and instead focus in WWDC on Snow Leopard and iPhone OS 3.0, among other hardware changes... Hmmm. Wouldn't THAT frustrate all those (like me) who are awaiting the iPhone refresh news?

Upgrading phones w/ AT&T

Interesting. Good news for Jobs. I'm glad to hear it.

One thing I wonder, though, is why all this fuss is being made over the 2-year contract period of the original iPhone owners. I bought an original iPhone in November 2007, and then an iPhone 3G in July 2008 . . . there was no problem with AT&T, they just let me extend my contract. I'm very much hoping they let me do the same thing with the V3 iPhone. I think a LOT of sales would be lost if they charged 499/599 for the new phones to people who faithfully bought the iPhone, iPhone 3G, and now the iPhone v3.

If you had an original iPhone, AT&T was fine to let you upgrade, since the original iPhone likely wasn't subsidized, or at least not as much as the current iPhone is. However, if you had upgraded your plan within the previous 18-24 months with AT&T, they have been extremely stingy about allowing you to upgrade, unless you want to pay the full cost of the phone...and that is only if they even offer an unsubsidized version of the iPhone.

Last year, my wife added two lines to our plan and got different phones for her and myself. I was waiting for the 2nd generation iPhone to come out and figured that I would upgrade then. WRONG! AT&T figured that they already had my money, and didn't care that I had a wad of cash in my pocket to give to them to get an iPhone (including the additional data plan). So either way, more money in AT&T's pocket.

In cases like this, it makes me hope that the iPhone is opened up to more providers (such as Sprint or T-Mobile), so I can just tell AT&T were to stick their plan...

But then again, I think all phone companies are evil.

Like I said a week ago in another post here, 100 bucks Jobs will be the "One more thing" and hopefully announce iPhone for Verizon for 2010.

No, thanks. I'm not a fan of AT&T, but if the iPhone was only on Verizon, I would never even bother. Verizon likely has the most incompetent customer service I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. I got rid of a home phone line so I don't have to deal with Verizon any longer.

I know what it is....

You all know what this means they are going to release...

Okay, no one has said this for awhile, so I'll just say what everyone else is thinking. Steve is coming back to finally introduce the - - -

PowerBook G5 :D
