It is disturbing to imagine a comparison between the Oompa loompas and the alleged working conditions at Foxconn

I could imagine a broke college student getting the golden ticket;)
Nah, it would have been slaappy or lilo777. Wait, are those users here or AppleInsider? I forget.

Anyhow, it probably would have been a troll or hater. Both of which this site has plenty of.

:p

Who can take a sunrise
Bring Apple back from the dead
Cover it with magic and a miracle or two
The Apple Man can, Jobs Apple Man can
The Apple Man can cause he mixes it up with love and makes the say "OoOOo".

Come with me
And you'll be
In a world of
Steve's imagination
Bondi Blue
No floppy
And the mouse is from hockey

If this were legal, everyone would be able to start lotteries. Apple's contest might look legitimate but you can sell $5 paper clips with a chance to win a million dollars.

I suppose that would be OK if the state also restricted itself from starting lotteries.

Lotteries are a scam no matter who runs them, but it's your choice to play or not.

This is the type of stuff that Walter Isaacson should have included in Steve Jobs Bio. This would have been funny to see in real life.

Now I have an excuse to buy this book, hope there are more stories like this.

If there are more stories like this, then you can be assured that Macrumors will post them all on the front page, thereby spoiling the book for those of us who really do want to read it.

Oompa loompa doompety doo
I've got a perfect tablet for you
Oompa loompa doompety dee
If you are wise you'll listen to he

What would you do if it was pink and green?
Like a clown vomited on the screen?
Fruit loop colors and dead pixels too
15 Apple Store returns, would that be you?

Total B*llo*ks,

YOU'VE GOT TO BE IN IT, TO WIN IT..

Chances are that an apple none enthuesiast would win and not really care whereas a long devoted apple fan who has bought the iMac ends up winning.. great idea. Just because its £1000+ rather than a £1 mars bar..

GREAT IDEA!

If you're that against private lotteries, then why not craft laws that go after private lotteries with just a little bit of nuance and intelligence?

Surely you can write a law that allows something like what Steve Jobs proposed, which is clearly not a private lottery.

Does someone own the rights to "Wonka" stuff?

Try using Apple's brand to promote your own contest. Steve would have flipped out.

Haha this is the best article I've seen as I wait for news on new MacBook Pros.

It's a grand and hilarious idea but I have a feeling the tour wouldn't be nearly as exciting as a chocolate factory. A lot of doors would be closed and rooms off limits. One can only stand to see so many conference rooms and cubicles. :p

Off topic.
I would love to see the clam shell ibook re introduced as a limited edition but with a retina display and some really fancy designs. That would be freaking awesome.

Now how does a poor kid find £1000 on the floor to buy an iMac for a golden ticket, then somehow try to drag it all home running with all people after him?

Charlie: HOLY ****! A golden ticket in my iMac box!

Genius: run, kid! RUN

If this is true, this is a side of Steve that I really wish the world got to see come out of hiding. This is almost like the story where Jobs & Co. dressed up as Alice In Wonderland for kids parties. While I could picture it, even though I never would have imagined it myself, I wish I could have seen it. Jobs truly had a unique way in going about life. I wish more folks found as much passion and interest as he did. :)

Hmm... Still miss ya', Steve.
