Are you sure steve jobs wasn't saying "soon" to the ipad in canada? I had trouble reading the original email, and it could be possible that steve jobs did too?

I think Jobs should not respond to stupid people. Let Gates do that.

P.S. Canada be fairer than that.

how do you play "catch up" when both companies are using the same fork of the webkit open source project. apple could release safari 5 tomorrow with the exact features of chrome in terms of page rendering.

there may be some change in the future when webkit2 supplants webkit in apple products, but i don't see why google would adopt it as well.

good. chrome uses webkit, from a development perspective the difference between chrome and safari is negligible at best. i don't care if it shakes out at safari 1% and chrome at 50%. it's irrelevant as long as google continues to use webkit then all the advancements they make will come to safari and vice-versa.

notable exception is the javascript RTE, but for what it's worth safari 4.0.5 is still faster on my corei7 at javascript performance than chrome 5 beta 1

Chromium is already making hooks into WebKit2. Read the source.

Never use it!

I have safari on my desktop, but I never use it. I did not even know it need to be updated. Isn't that sad. I use FF all the time because I can customize it and play with when I'm bored. Are you listening Steve?

look at the horrible spelling mistakes in the email.. ex. "when apple plan" and "PS. Canada wait for ipad". Did he mean to say I can't wait for ipad or i'm in canada and I want the ipad? These are questions that plague me.

edit: Correction Grammer mistakes not spelling. What was I thinking.

Look at his name. I wonder how badly you would butcher his language.

Apple playing catch up with Google. Must be getting on Steves nerves. Should of kept his mouth shut. Now he has to deliver and deliver good.

This is good for us as consumers though. Steve does not want to lose to Google and I personally do not think he will, but I would not bet on it and I'm really glad Google is hitting home runs like Apple is on each new idea and product so Apple is forced to keep innovating and not sitting on its hands like tons of giants did to eventually get trounced for no reason than the ignorance of believing they were invincible.

I love the fact that Google is competing with Apple in almost every market now that I am very much interested in; android which will push the iPhone, the new developing tablet which has not been unveiled but b/c of googles latest innovations I have a good feeling will give the iPad a run for its money and also with mobile me and internet browsers.
