I love reading the first page of any article, then jumping to the last page, and the first post I see is always some argument or flame war post.
I don't care if you like SJ or not. He is leaving ON TOP. Not too many people get to leave their profession on top. The Beatles did it. Jim Brown did it. Some leave the world on top, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, etc. But Jobs completed something he started some 35 odd years ago.
Apple is the most valuable brand, the most reputable brand, the best selling retail store, the most valuable company by market cap (Exxon what have you done this past week?), the list goes on and on.
Steve Jobs was a visionary more than anything else. He wasn't a brain like Bill Gates. BG is extremely wealthy, but he never headed a revolution such as Jobs did. Several revolutions.
Sadly, this doesn't bode well for his future life if he had to quit because of medical reasons. I wish him long life. This is a guy that did more by 30 than we all collectively did from birth to right now.
Smarts, luck and good old work ethic helped him create a company that will live on after Jobs has gone from this planet.
To all the Apple haters. It must suck to be you. That slick Apple logo on just about everything you see around you. See any movies lately? Spot the Apple. Walk down the street.. those white headphones? Apple. Thanks Steve. I love the Haters because they are the ones either defragging/scan disking/viruses checking/spyware cleaning their Windoze machines, are they are the Linux guys who can't do much of anything. Oh, maybe they can go compile a printer driver or something...
And to the Mac fanboys, lay off the Apple punch. Apple makes mistakes. But they make success more than mistakes. I love Apple, but I've had posts dropped so often from the Apple Discussion Forums because of negative comments when something Apple did didn't sit well with me.
Bottom line, Apple will move on, Steve Jobs will be remembered forever, and we shouldn't waste time flaming about issues that don't really matter in the long haul. Apple as a business made mistakes, bad ones, in the past. they will certainly not repeat those, I don't care who's running the place. The Apple culture Steve planted years ago has blossomed and we are good to go for the long future.
