Steve is not coming back. It's sad but true. The Apple board needs to address this issue with the shareholders, they are not handling this well.

IIRC, it was Buffet who convinced Gates to become philanthropic.

As usual, Gates just borrowed the idea....
So true.

Like the M$ stores? I know it wasn't Gates' baby but wow...is there a thing in those stores they didn't steal from the Apple blueprint (other than the HP laptops)?... :p

pancreatic cancer caries a very poor prognosis... px 1yr mortality >90%
he did very well to survive

liver transplants are massive surgical procedures.. having seen a few whilst i was working in a liver centre last year.. they last from 10 all the way to 15/20 hrs.. and require invasive specialist monitoring with 48hrs in itu pos-op

having the two conditions must of been awful for him

hmm..

Tablets were Gates's idea..

first OS (between the 2 of them) was shipped by Gates..

who copied who again...??

Looked better tonight than he did for any of last years keynotes, those that have been saying he is going to die soon have been proved heavily wrong.

He is back from medical leave after 6 weeks last time it was 6 months so whatever he has had has been fairly trivial compared with the last leave of absence.

Great he is back

I hope that you're right, and that his appearance wasn't "boosted" for the show.

He's not "back", though - he made a short appearance at one event.

You don't know what you are spouting off about.

All reports are that Steve is being treated for islet cell neoplasms - very rare form of pancreatic cancer but with a much much higher survival rate - 50& - 75% at 5 years.

His voice sounded strong and sharp, he seemed very mobile so either he was drugged up to his eyeballs on some booster or he has beaten whatever he is suffering from.

His revival reminds me of Michael Douglas, the sad shuffling old man Douglas has been replaced by the Douglas of old after beating cancer, I saw similar in Steve tonight, I think he has beaten his illness

Let's start baseless rumors, why don't we? Maybe he got "boosted" so he could attend dinner last week with Obama and other CEOs.

Anyone who has lost family and friends to cancer knows that there are good days and bad days, even towards the end.

It's just as "baseless" to say "I think he has beaten his illness" based on seeing pictures or low res videos of him for 20 minutes at one event.

It's good to see him at a public event, and I hope that he really is making a recovery from whatever his condition is (since none of us really knows).

Until his medical leave ends, though, Steve is "not back".
