Hope to see you up there Steve. God bless

i think steve will be there....... the ipad is his baby...... and he's rightfully so proud of it........ it will probably not be the last time we see steve @ an apple launch.............. rest you brute...... god and devilspeed with you!

Assuming his health is taking him down and out, doing the show would make for a great last one (well, one of these will be his last): the triumph that this groundbreaking product (some 30 years in the making) is still riding high a year after its introduction. He has led not one (Apple II), not two (Macintosh), not three (iPhone), but four disruptive technologies (iPad) to market. Making it past the first year and still growing strong is a big deal.

You missed (at least) one: iPod. It's kind of ridiculous, really.

As for whether he should or shouldn't show up - he knows his body best. We don't.

If he shows up, that could be kind of emotional for me, knowing his problems. :(

Steve's personal association with All Things Digital co-presenter Walt Mossberg, maybe we could be forgiven for reading some truth in Kara Swisher's report, and the possibility that Steve himself has, just this once, uncharacteristically sanctioned the leak. In a way I hope that's the case.

Kara Swisher's comments about product focus aside, if Steve does turn up tomorrow, possibly to take one last bow, but most definitely hopefully to show us all he's still very much in the game, it will surely be a very emotional event for all, the most emotional in Apple's history so far.

As well as being somewhat grotesque in its intrusiveness, this intensive interest and coverage of Steve's health is in reality so much more. In pure business terms, the true picture has great significance, not just for the future of Apple, but for the future of technology as a whole. Why not an Apple car, Apple medical solutions some day?, Apple... something else we don't yet know we need?!

But for those of us who actually care for the man, as a human being, as well as the business genius he undoubtedly is, and we are surely many, this is very difficult time indeed.

A FaceTime with Jonathan Ive, from England, might be more appropriate:rolleyes:

Oh dear. I'll see your "FaceTime with Jonathan Ive, from England" and raise you Virtual Steve Jobs using that avatar technology Microsoft are showing off this week!
:apple:

...

...his presence, in any form less than full-on Steve Jobs the Showman mode, will sour the event. "Beloved old man suffering a terminal disease" overshadows "way cool disruptive tech part 2". He'll have to let go and let his company take the spotlight, lest he make Apple = Steve Jobs; the connection must be severed with grace. (Doesn't mean he has to leave, he just has to let another fill his shoes.)

Well said, but a Facetime call solves both problems and keeps him officially on medical leave.

Facetime to Stephen Fry who will be hosting a special invitation only special event at the BBC in the UK at the same time.

What if he is considering making an appearance because it could possibly be his last and what better way to leave the spotlight than introducing one of the most highly anticipated devices to date?

I bet my bottom dollar that Steve will appear via Facetime (as said by many previous posts...) That way whenever a news article or such talks about Steve's appearance, they'll mention the Facetime equipped iPads as well. Great way for Steve to appear without detracting from the product....:apple:

Say hello - wave good bye

If Steve shows today I think it will be his swan song. Sad to say but I truly believe that it will be his goodbye.
