If Apple sold a brick with an Apple logo and called it magical, the flock would be lined up to buy them for 199.99 each. Apple is a marketing/hype genius and they have built up a huge cult following that feeds on every word that comes from Steve's mouth. He must laugh until he cries when he sees the public reaction.

Some consumers are driven by price others by personal value judgement.
It's harder work targeting the second group but they are incredibly brand loyal.
To the point that the price sensitive consumer sees it as cultish. Mostly it because the tool just feels more natural, more comfortable, more productive like any well crafted tool should.

When apple lost it's way it was because they had lost the sense of fit and finish that attracted the second group. Same with Sony they use to be really great in this regard but really got stuck some where along the way.

I am far too lazy to quote anyone in particular, but take anything maclaptop says with a grain of salt. His first post was how he just switched from a PC to Mac, then he says he's owned over 15 Mac laptops a week later, now he says he's been to every WWDC. He was also caught lying about where he lives, saying New York and then changing it to the west coast when it suited him. The point is that he'll say anything to get a rise out of people while attempting to appear legitimate.

EDIT: AppleScruff1, you're being ridiculous. People pointed out times when Apple products didn't sell and you completely dismissed it. Apple products tend to have high satisfaction ratings, what is that all about?

If there aren't significant improvements and optimizations of the iPad OS I will be greatly disappointed. Kinda pissed that there won't be an iPhone announcement since I am due for an upgrade in July and so either I wait for the next iPhone or I go to arguably a currently more attactive OS to me at the moment (Android).

I can sorta understand having the iPhone OS under lock and key and not allowing users any form of customization of the devices that they bought but I would hope otherwise for the iPad. If Apple keeps the iPhone and iPad so close in terms of OS it just perpetuates the "iPad is a giant iPhone" stereotype. Currently the iPad IS a giant iPhone (although just because its a larger version of something else doesn't mean it can't differentiate itself as we've all seen) but it has the potential to be so much more.

This is not a personal attack. Please elaborate on what you think it should start doing more, I'm sincerely interested in peoples' opinions on this.

I'd like customization abilities (homescreen, app screen) and access to some form of filesystem. Control the density of app icons on each page. Redesigned notification system with the iPads screen in mind and a more multitasking version of multitasking. I want options that you can turn on and off. Sure make the out-of-the-box OS the same as the iPhone but let me customize the screen and displayed information.

There is nothing wrong with Apple products and what I said has nothing to do with Apple products that didn't sell well. Satisfied customers is one thing, psycho fanatics are another.

I believe this is a sign for people to lower their expectations this year. The forum flooded with all this noise about "one more thing" is a refrain we are unlikely to hear. Next year there will be one more thing, not this year. Apples been shoving out new stuff so fast they've got to be spread pretty thin.

Android is still growing just the rate is slowing. But to the point those people up for upgrades will want new phones with the iPhone not available to them they will move to a different platfirm.

That doesn't look like a slowing rate to me...

iCloud i don't really care about , but OS X 7 lion I can't wait and ios5 hope its a total revamp

Yeah a slightly warmed over 4... bleh

There is no flippin way I will buy another Antennagate phone.

Even if the reception is improved it still reminds me of the iP4.

Like something ugly, the look of the four will always remind me of Antennagate.

Come On Apple, it's time to get with the program, give us a nice 4.0" display, a fresh style, with aluminum or anything but glass.

You CAN do it... I know you can.

Apple needs to regain their confidence, and not cling to the 4's styling.

They are milking it.

Yes they can.

But unfortunately saying it in an internet forum won't make it happen. Try emailing Steve as a shareholder, that'll be much more effective.

No it won't. Steve's duty to the stockholders is to increase the value of the stock (by giving customers the products they want), not to give the stockholders the products they want. Clearly the customers are happy with Steve's choices.

Well, at least it'll be more effective than here right?
I always thought as a shareholder a person had some say in the future of the company.

Speaking of which, i feel bad for RIM, their shareholders have asked for a change of CEOs. Looks like iPhones and Androids will be the future now, with Windows Phone 7 right behind it.

on topic: Steve Jobs will be introducing ALL 3? Wow, he must be feeling much better!

The fact you choose a graph that didn't include that information required to show growth trend says either you don't understand graphs or you do and the correct graph didn't say what you wanted to see.

Soo... Regarding iCLOUD...

Still no mention of Safari BOOKMARKS being synced OR being able access/modify the on the WEB!!!!

And is iWeb DEAD? What about uploading and editing WEBPAGES?

...Still not providing a way to "store" ALL my PHOTOS and files "in the cloud'? And what about WEB GALLERIES???

Also, will I be able to "store" ANY FILE "in the Cloud" as a backupspace??? (like with iDisk) Will there still be the DropBox for file sharing?

Also, why do I have to pay an annual fee for storing MATCHED MUSIC (and what about DVDs I own & ripped if they are being treated just like purchased songs (I can see the annual fee being for ADDITIONAL STORAGE for non-matched material that is ACTUALLY uploaded and stored...)

Will iCloud also deal with other media or JUST MUSIC? (like purchased TV SHOWS & MOVIES, PODCASTS, etc)

Its a move in the right direction, BUT STILL NOT ENOUGH (I guess you get what you pay for!)

I would be surprised if they took Bookmarks sync away.

You have to pay Apple $25 a year to appease the record companies. You can think of it as a convenience fee if you want.

Looks like iWeb is dead. The writing has been on the wall for a while.

iCloud will deal with any media developers write APIs for. I expect Apple will do something for video themselves.

You can still use DropBox if you want, why wouldn't you?

No widgets, no integrated turn by turn map, same UI and no very basic file system. I expected alot more.
