My iPhone froze again today. Oh well... maybe the 23rd times a charm!

Luckily I'm switching computers... I'm moving to my laptop: with 7.7 installed!
Amateur. I suffered through 40 restores from July 11th-August 15-ish. ;)

Since then, I haven't had to do ONE. I finally saw the light, jailbroke my iPhone 3G, installed OpenSSH, and now I can recover from an ALoD in about three-four minutes with no data loss. You might consider doing the same, as this is not the first time SJ has acknowledged the problem and promised a fix.

I'm fairly confident that the response you got was a previously generated reply that gets sent to all customers who e-mail SJ about 2.0. I may be wrong, but that's the feeling I'm getting after such a vague response. Oddly enough, Steve probably copy/paste's these emails and just sends 'em out. See, that's quite ironic. (Copy/Paste absence on iPhone)

Regardless, let's hope this software update solves such issues.
I think it is too. Considering I just got the same exact email:eek: lol

It's a funny situation... jailbreaking voids your warranty, and yet the only way to fix the phone is to jailbreak!

i can't wait for the update.... It's frustrating to have to wait for an update to be able to use your phone though.

Apple has a lot on their plate right now.. someone needs to grab the pork chop!

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G (white): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5C1 Safari/525.20)

@Mykbibby: yes, it is rather ironic, isn't it?

You know, people used to ask if my phone was jailbroken when I complained about this problem, and I would explain that I had never jailbroken it, that it was 100% stock, etc. Now it turns out that if it HAD been jailbroken, I wouldn't have had anything to complain about in the first place. Sure, the problem still would've been there, but it would've been really easy to fix.

So yeah, you're right. It is both ironic and pathetic that the only way for me to have a dependable phone is to jailbreak.

I'm curious... what apps do you folks have those of you who have 6+ pages of icons??

I've got two pages - the built-in ones, about 2/3 of a page of 3rd party apps (plus Apple's Remote) and a half page of Safari bookmark icons.

What are you folks downloading? Not trying to blame you for Apple's software bug, I'm just interested in what your 6+ pages of apps are.

Most of mine are games, but I've also got several dictionaries (including two Jap-Eng dictionaries which I need for work) and about ten educational apps (for both myself and by 15-month-old son) ... I've got a few news apps (RSS readers, AP News, etc) too ...

But of the $250+ worth of apps I've bought so far, maybe 80% have been games. I commute to work by train, and spend about an hour each way sitting on my ***. I like the idea of being able to not only work and study (email, video tutorials, educational apps) but also play a few games if I'm so inclined. That is why I bought my iPhone. It certainly wasn't for the laggy, unresponsive UI. ;)
