When I had the Curve the integration with my Mac was HORRENDOUS and that was also one of the reasons that I switched to the iPhone. If I got the Bold would I still have to use that crappy Pocket Sync software that barely works? I heard RIM was working on a Mac desktop client but don't know what the latest news is. Anybody have any info on this?

I use Missing Sync to integrate my wife's Blackberry Pearl with our iMac and it works great. Does cost money, but worth it in my opinion.

PocketMac for BB is FREE. Never tried it --- just downloaded it to see the interface. It looks amazing. I might have to get the Bold and give up my iPhone. Seeing the BB software looked reassuring that the transition might not be that bad after all.

if the Blackberry had somthing similar to the app store I would consider it, but theres no way I would give up app store. I went 1 day without it and it was crazy!

You lasted 1 whole day away from the app store and then had to go back?

You need help!
Anyways, .....lol ,... i do not like the keyboard of the iPhone much at all. I prefer actual buttons and i did like the BB. I have a first gen iPhone so when i upgrade it will be either for a 3G or a Bold.
Will have to unlock it tho, i dont have crappy AT&T.

It's not a new concept. Handango has been around for a decade selling PDA/smartphone apps for every kind of device out there. Even have their own App Store application that used to be included on some phones.

Anyway:

RIM announces their own App Store

must say
i just switched to a blackberry bold
sold my iphone 3g
and im loving the bold
background apps
push email with mobileME
only thing im not liking is the ota sync with mobile me
but i can get used to that
otherwise im liking the bold!!!

took a look at the bold while I was waiting for my iPhone 3g in best buy. Physically the phone looks terrible it's a thick brick like someone said earlier but blackberry devices are great but not great enough to want me want one instead of my 3g.
Copy and paste and picture messages isn't enough to get me to make the switch or even choose it In the first place.

PocketMac is garbage. Easily the worst piece of mac software in existence. RIM should just remove it from their site and make their own syncing software (which supposedly they are doing).

Some people will naturally disagree with this reply, but i personally think Black Berrys have got the worst user interface, out of many phones. And BB with the half keyboard are just worse. my dad had a blackberry curve, the newish one and i hated using it. it took ages to find the wi-fi, and then it cant display web pages like the iphone. and its just such a small screen compared to the iPhone. he then used my iphone and straight away had seen a difference.

a good point, which i think is very good is that the BB is actually loud and clear when ringing, where as all iphones have got that crappy rubbish speak, well at least 1st gen iphone. and when the blackberry rings the 360 deg ball things flash like a rainbow :p

That's the thing I don't like about the bold, it looks too damn big.

Read the whole thread, it will enlighten you.

I still love my iPhone, but not as much as I used to. I'm sick of the crashing, long sync/backup time, no email/text typing in landscape, and crappy AT&T reception.
I hope that Apple wows me with their next firmware update.

agreed. apart from the fact that the iphone just looks 'so cool', the thing is just completely unreliable. safari crashes ALL the time. backups were ok when i first went to 2.1 fw but now it is somehow back to a ridiculously slow crawl. and for some reason apple has made the app store more difficult to actually browse by getting rid of search options that used to be there? i barely even visit the app store anymore because of this.

My best friend just got the Bold and I played around with it or a little bit. I just can't get away from my iPhone. I still like it too much. I used to have the Curve before, but I just love my iPhone too much.

If I can switch over my ATT plan with no issues I think the switch to the bold is impending. I just really miss having a blackberry after doing the iphone thing for about 8 months (first one, then 3G). i just miss things like BB messenger and freaking copy and paste
