I skipped the XS route and here I am on the fence with the 11 pro vs. my current X. All signs point to upgrading (I would actually save money because I am switching carriers and would get money towards trade in and sing up bonus $250), better camera, battery, and maybe size upgrade. Also, I am minimal with the X and rMB being my only apple devices (so upgrading to the max size might be in order).

The camera, screen size, and battery are a draw but I WILL be getting the new iPhone in 2020 so that makes my decision a bit harder.

I just want to hear from people who either stuck with their iPhone X (and why) or if you upgraded and felt it was worth the $$$.

I'm sticking with my X as it still does most of what I want it to. The only way I'd upgrade is if Apple released an actual SE2 – a phone with top notch specs that is significantly smaller than the one I have. I'd purchase one on launch day.

Otherwise, it's the X until I figure out what I want to do.

A lot are saying the new version will be just like the iPhone 8 but with upgraded hardware.

As far as upgrading goes, I upgraded from the X to 11 Pro. For me, camera and battery life are my two main things and I have noticed significant improvement with both. I am very satisfied with the upgrade. I thought I would miss 3D Touch but since it works with my iPad Pro 11-inch as well, I don’t miss it anymore.

Data speeds are much faster and signal reliability seems the same if not marginally better than my Qualcomm X.

I'm sticking with my X for at least another year. I usually upgrade every 2 years so am due an upgrade in November but I see absolutely no reason to go up to any of the new iPhone's from the X. They aren't a significant jump for me to warrant upgrading, I'm on the 256GB model with 2TB iCloud so no worry about space and battery life is still great. My 6S by this stage was awful 2 years ago.

I'll see what next year's lineup are like. I imagine i'll upgrade then.

I upgrade yearly on the upgrade program. X to XS was a marginal change. I barely noticed a difference. XS to 11 Pro has felt like a big upgrade. The battery life is significantly better. The night mode for photos is jaw dropping and I do also like the ultra wide mode.

Sounds like you really want to the Pro I say go for it. There will always be something bigger and better next year and your X will be worth less next year if you trade it in or sell it. You said yourself you can get a good deal now since you're switching carriers so it sounds like a good time to pull the trigger.

The X is a very relevant phone with the first Face ID form factor still being used. The processor was a powerhouse when it came out and is still no slouch. It was also the most “over built” phone from Apple IMO, they did not cut any corners using quality parts.

If I had traded my X to Sprint I could’ve gotten my 11 Pro Max for just $16.95 a month. My son still sporting my 6S needed another phone so I gave my X to him and got myself the 11 Max Pro.

If you have no reason to upgrade this year, then holding onto your X is fine.

I’ll say this, the camera is head and shoulders better than any prior Apple camera, even slightly better than the best Android currently. That alone makes me feel it was a worthy upgrade. The pictures I’m taking right now is amazing.

All day battery life is a perk with free time on Saturday for me. I’m a heavy user, watching TV and lately playing MARIO RUN and still have battery power at the end of the day.

Does one with an X need to upgrade? No.

It’s personal at some point. If you’re wanting better pictures, than it’s worth going to 11 Pro.

If you want the pleasure of a larger display & an hr more of battery life over 11 Pro, then go 11 Pro Max.

Otherwise, one can wait it out and not because next years phones is going to offer that much more, it’s just that you don't NEED to from X.

it all depends on how much you value the quality of the pictures

My path 6s -> xs -> 11pro

I’m not upgrading my X until next year. It performs perfectly for my needs and with 3rd party apps like Focos, the camera quality is really good in my opinion. I’m looking forward to see Qualcomm back inside next years iPhones as well as other improvements that I feel will be worth the wait.

Literally, this

It's the first time theres an actual meaningful upgrade(s) to the camera besides the usual cliche ('the best camera ever in a smartphone' each year), and how they advertise the 11 Pro and I guess 11 too, with "All day battery life", its actually true - this thing does get you through the day with heavy use.

The Xs, while it definitely had a superb camera in its own right, the battery really left a lot to be desired.

I was going to keep my X for another year, but after reading reviews and checking it out at Apple store, decided to upgrade to 11 Pro Max. It is a noticeable upgrade to me:

1. The camera is much better, even in daylight. Ultrawide is handy too, especially for videos.
2. Dual SIM is a welcome addition as I can now use my personal and work phone numbers with a single phone.
3. I had phablet-sized phones before, so I missed a bigger screen a bit.

I've beaten the hell out of the battery for a good portion of the day and come home with still having a significant amount of charge left. It's crazy good and the 11 Pro Max has an even bigger battery.

I've had the XS Max and switched over to the Note 10+ this year. Have been an iPhone user since the first one came out with the occasional Android phone here and there. I'm definitely going back to iPhone next year if they rollout 5G.

I am in the same boat. Wife and I still enjoy the XS/XS Max but are stuck on two things the camera (specifically low light capabilities) and the battery. She has the max and is just fine with battery life but the regular XS is at 89% battery health and can no longer hold a charge for a full day.

We could sell the XSs and upgrade to the pro and pro max, but I am still struggling knowing there is a redesign in the future.

I was going to stay with my X for another year, as it's still adequate, my wife pushed me to try out the 11 Pro. The camera and the battery was a worthy upgrade for me, now that I've been using the phone for the last few weeks.

i had the ip x until last 2 weeks..the camera the battery and even the perf on my 11pro max running ios13 are far better

That's why I like the Apple upgrade program. If you get the 11 Pro now and the next phone doesn't impress you then keep it and you own it after two year's of payments. If you want to upgrade then trade in and continue to pay.

That is a very good point. I do wonder about the benefits of the upgrade program but I also like the idea of owning a phone outright. Not having a payment on a device is quite enticing. At this point, we are still paying ATT but if we held onto the XSs we could sell them next year and put that towards purchasing the devices outright. BUT lets be honest, I will probably want the 12s (or what ever it is called) the next year. The upgrade cycle is a heck of a thing for an apple enthusiast.

Buy the 11 pro and next year if you like the redesign ,buy it again

lol thats what i do every year...😜 I held off this year for the first time since the iPhone 5s (had the 5, went to the 6) other than that it is an upgrade every year.... I kept telling myself this was the year I waited...

Apple trade-in program is pretty good nowadays, the difference between iUP and trading in your device is not that big...

In the same boat. Have an original X which I love. I really want to wait to see what 2020 brings, but man, the 11 Pro camera is calling me. Also the fact the X is still worth like $400 on a trade. My thoughts right now are IF I trade it for the 11 Pro, then next year, if there is a major change, give the 11 Pro to my wife, and just buy the 2020 outright, lol.

With that said, the X I have now is the longest I've kept any phone. Frankly, it still performs way past my expectations and I have zero reason to really want to get rid of it other than the camera upgrade.
