anyone who thinks that 100mb is a smart choice, please tell me what is the difference here:

a) i cant download an app over 100mb from appstore.
b) i can download atleast two apps when both are 99mb causing atleast 198mb used data.

c) i can watch vids without limits, hundreds of mbs/gbs used easily in a day.

the restriction only makes your life more difficult. e.g. i was out of luck once when i needed to download an app from appstore, but i couldnt because it was over 100mb. while i could have been more productive on those hours (doing work stuff), this stupid restriction set the bound what i was able to do and what i wasnt with my productivity tool, ipad.

if you are really defending that 100mb limit used in appstore because there are people who needs to be protected themselves, then apple should set 100mb limits for all cellular data usage.

apple should copy this feature from android: you can set the limit by yourself and it is even warning when you get close to the limit.
It doesn't matter what anyone thinks. It only matters what Apple thinks, or more importantly does.

I discovered a workaround. This works if you have a laptop. You'll need to download Connectify which allows you to share your laptop's Internet connection with your other devices. They offer their "lite" version for free. I'm sure there are other softwares similar to Connectify which should do just the same

1) Connect your iPhone to your laptop via usb to tether your connection into your laptop (this doesn't work with wifi tethering so only usb tethering)
2) Open Connectify and select the "Apple mobile device ethernet" as the Internet to share, then create and start the hotspot
3) On your iPhone, your Connectify hotspot will appear under the list of available wifi networks. Connect to it, and now your can download over this "wifi" connection

Basically this sends your cellular data signal into your laptop then returns it to your phone as wifi

I wanted to download a game from the app store to play during my lunch break at work. We don't have any wifi at work and the game is over 100mb so Apple is telling me it won't download until I connect to wifi. Why is this a thing?

Obviously this isn't a huge problem, I can just download the game when I get home, but it's pretty annoying to basically be told I can't use my data how I want. I have 15gb a month and I'm not going to go over on this game (and if I *was* going to go over, isn't that my choice if you warn me first?)

I searched the forum to see if there was a workaround for this and someone suggested that turning off the phone and turning it back on allowed the game to download over cellular but they must have patched that up because it didn't work for me. Is there really no way around this limit?

This trick works for me... no restart needed ...
