The only thing I still miss from my past Blackberry days. Six iPhones later and it's still missing...

This is part of the reason I dislike the BB I have for work. Damn blinking light!

Thats like going out to the the mail box to check for new mail rather than having someone ring your door bell to tell you there is new mail. Yup, same thing.

My UPS guy just leaves packages at my door without ringing the doorbell. It'd be nice to be notified..

Maybe iPhone 8 will have it..

Well, mail is always delivered to the mail box. If you are rich enough to have an employee just for that, more power to you...

Even if you find no need for it, it's blatantly obvious that MANY people want it. There's no reason Apple shouldn't have included it with an option to disable the light. You're simply being contrary just to be contrary...there's no down side!

How many people want this? Let's count... only you and a few others. Your thread isn't even big enough to make a blimp. So pipe it and just use the screen.

They didn't have to put one of those ugly LED's like all the other phones have.

They could have used the one from the macbook, and made it work the same way. It could start to slowly 'pulsate' when you have a text or something. classy.

oh well

LOL your comments are a joke! This has been one of the most requested features since the original iPhone and every subsequent iPhone! Once again, you're being contrary just to be contrary as there would be NO downside for people like you.

Well, they had to save something for the iPhone 5S next year. Lol.

But the phone is usually right next to you or in your pocket..

If you can't grab the phone and push one button.. Go jump in front of a car..

So much of a feature request it has made it so far... oh wait!

So much of a feature that every high end Android phone has adopted it! If you base "features" based on what Apple implements then we'd never see any updates whatsoever. Once again another ridiculously foolish comment from you.

I beg to differ. Many Android phones adopt other techniques other than the LED light. You should look into those options and you will realize, there are other ways of doing it with better results and much more eye candy that makes the phone look better at doing it.

Top 3 Android phones on the market today:

Samsung Galaxy S3 - has it
HTC One X - has it
Google Galaxy Nexus - has it

Please stop chirping. You're making yourself look bad.

There are other smartphone with Android besides those... look into those. Ypu seem to just post what makes your point look good. LED notification is a no go because it is useless method. Like I said, there are other better and more elegant ways.

IT IS SUCH A USEFUL AND SIMPLE FEATURE. How this guy is saying to just turn on the screen is so besides the point. People are stupid and this guy is a perfect example.

The notification light serves to inform you of activity on your phone at a GLANCE. SURE you can get up and push the button but that is precisely why a notification light is desired.. so you don't have to. So when your engaged in any behavior and your phone is on the desk or table or purse or pocket you can quickly tell if there was anything missed. DO YOU GET IT NOW????

I do wish apple would give us something a little more elegant such as the breathing light on notebooks as mentioned but even a basic white led would do the trick or maybe even a changing one to indicate text, phone call, vm, or emails.
