My S0 can make it through a day, most of the time. Battery is starting to (finally), show it's age. I was ready to wait and buy an S4, but I'm not sure if my S0 battery will wait until the Fall. And that is of course assuming that the S4 comes out in the Fall.

I am still wearing my launch day first generation stainless steel one every day. Very tempted to buy a new one, but as I want another stainless steel one, the fact that my mobile carrier doesn't support the LTE function keeps me back. The Sport Watch is not really an option as I bought the stainless steel link band, which doesn't look good on aluminium.

Got mine in may 2015, not a single day have I gone without it since!

Battery going strong still, now down to 80 % capacity at last which gets me well through a regular day (without a workout, that is).
Unfortunately watchOS 4 took away big time from it's usability by removing the glanceable watchOS 3 dock.

The stainless steel case has got some bruises by now, was thinking about polishing them out.

Correct. Out of warranty battery service costs $79. Here is a chart that explains the breakdowns.

Anyone already got a battery replacement and can tell whether they actually replace the battery or just do a whole unit replacement?

In case of the latter, I'd consider it not only to get back full battery capacity, but also a scratch-free case.

If you're in need of a battery replacement for the Apple Watch and you meet the requirements For the replacement, they just replace the battery. If the watch is defective or has an issue other than the battery, then they can replace the whole watch with a warranty device or new unit.

I still use my 38mm SS Apple Watch every day. Yes it's pretty slow, and I don't use any apps since they take so long to load. Even receiving text messages on it causes noticeable lag. But it's still valuable to me, since I love using the modular face to check the time, date, weather, current news (!!!), and set timers on the fly.

Unfortunately the battery life on it sucks. I believe I used to receive about 14 hours of battery life per day, although I've noticed that in the past few weeks the battery life has gone down to about 10 hours of usage, and I don't use the workout app or anything strenuous on it either. For instance, I went on a trip this past week, and I left the house at 7 AM, and by noon the watch was already at around 53%.

Thanks!

That is unfortunate. I wonder why they do it that way with iPads but not with the watch which is more sealed.

I replaced my Series 0 today with a Series 3. It's noticeably thicker. Screen is clearly much better and speed is nice.
If it where not for my battery on the S0 I would have waited.

Still wear mine and got it in 2015
Battery is ok but it is slower since getting latest OS.

You know how faceID is like half a second slower than Touch ID, it's like that when i hold it up to check the time now

I use mine for activity tracking and notifications and it does its job pretty well. Sure, it’s a bit slow and the battery could be better, but with cinema mode enabled it easily last the whole day.
It was never really much more useful to me than the Pebble so I’m fine with the speed.

called about the 79.00 battery replacement.....they put a hold on your credit card for 249.00 in case it needs servicing when they finally inspect the watch...

i told them no...i only want and need the battery replaced nothing else.....

told me its how they handle it.

The performance of the newer Models, even the Series 1, would for me be the main incentive for upgrading. However, I'm not cool with the red crown on Series 3 Cellular models. While it does look amazing on a space grey/black watch with black watchband, it wouldn't go that well with some of the watchbands I own, and the Stainless Steel Series 3 unfortunately is only available with Cellular (and the red crown).

And no, covering it up with a sticker isn't an option.

I'm hoping Series 4 or whatever it might be called later this or next year will do away with that red crown (or maybe have the crown exchangeable, to add some more customization?)

Ive worn my S0 since launch day every single day. Ive noticed its a lot slower than it used to be and the battery doesn't get me through a whole day (8AM-10PM), unless theater mode is on. I think Im going to take part of my tax return and get a GPS Series 3. I have no real use for LTE since my phones nearby all the time and when I go running I can just sync local music playlists. That being said Ive been extremely happy with my S0 over the years. I remember when I first got it everyone told me that it was stupid, pointless and they would never catch on. I went months before I saw a watch on someone else and now they are everywhere. I haven't had a single issue with it however I had it replaced in Oct. 2016 due to a crack in the screen.

That's just their policy. That doesn't mean you will be charged anything, that's how they handle many of their product services by placing holds on credit cards. Because there are customers who are not being truthful about services they actually need completed with unknown damage to the device.

Just curious, what kind of boot times y'all getting with your "Series 0"?

Mine takes a whopping 4 minutes (watchOS 4.2.2).

...yea mine takes about the same amount of time, although it only ever gets rebooted when there is an update as all other times, I just put in on my nightstand where it charges every night until I am ready to wear it in the morning, so effectively, it never gets turned off!

Double S0 household here, one watch is 25 months old, the other about 14 months old. We mostly use them as a.... watch. But I am starting to itch for an upgrade, and I have only had mine for 14 months, lol. Might be because we got mom a S1 for Christmas and she loves it (we were worried she wouldn't so we didn't spend S3 money on it, actually got it for $200 at Walmart) and my sister just got a S3LTE and loves it. I was going to sell my S0 but after reading another user state he or she uses their S0 for sleep tracking, that is a great idea.

Couldn't tell you, I think it only reboots when a software update is installed. That typically happens overnight while on the charger.

Your time frame seems accurate On how long it takes to fully upload from when powered off. Series 2 seems to take approximately two minutes. I have Not tested Series 3 yet.

Still wearing the series 0 as well. No issues really with getting notifications or fitness tracking so I’m happy. I definitely will replace it though with either next year or the years after model. So far I haven’t found much of a reason to upgrade based on my needs.

I've been wearing my Series 0 38mm Sport every day since July 2015. Battery life hasn't gotten much worse for me at all and I have no trouble getting through the day on a single charge. Siri has gotten slower and less responsive, but everything else has been working for me. I mostly use it for notifications, calendar and weather complications, and general fitness tracking. I also use a grocery list app and Apple Pay. Oh, and texting.

It would be nice to get a speed upgrade, and to get the more complete heart rate metrics. I could probably make it just fine for the rest of the year and then upgrade to whatever is announced in September (if there will be any announcements on the watch front). I'm kind of tempted to upgrade sooner than later though. I occasionally get frustrated with Siri not working so well, and other times when the watch will just be slow to respond. I have a feeling that whenever I jump to the S3 (or whatever comes after that) I will kick myself for not upgrading sooner.
