And its usually a newbie with a few posts:D
Damn, we are all wrong.

Hold on, first I'm not a newbie, I've been using iPhone since 2008.
Second, I understand what you say that this has been confirmed hundred times, but one thing you should know today, we've asked t-mobile and they said that :yes the device is unlocked for 120 countries, not all the countries, and after 40 days we should request a full unlock.

I understand how boring this thread is, but if you read online, you can see people from few countries still confirming it's locked.

Also, even Apple Care man said that one of my two devices is unlocked, and one is locked after checking both serial numbers.

Even more, around the web you can still read things that : you should connect it to itunes to get the message, well.. the already unlocked device is not something itunes should congratulate you for !
you can also read that you should do a full restore, not activate it with t-mobile.. etc etc... where have this solutions came from if it's not from people who experienced t-mobile locked devices?.. where did the number 40 days come from? why sometimes apple said it's locked and sometimes not and sometimes you should confirm with t-mobile?
why t-mobile said that it's locked (even when if you got it from apple) and sometimes not.

I can't wait to get my two devices, I will get the first one (which apple confirmed it's unlocked) on Tuesday and I will confirm to you the status.
I will get the second one early on November (which apple said it's locked) and I will also confirm.

Meanwhile, I hope not to close this thread because it may put a spotlight on something we don't know.

it's not about personal opinions, it's about facts

Then maybe specify what you are talking about in your OP.

Also, source?

That sounds like BS honestly. I think they're just reading you their standard unlock policy.

Your friend's "invalid SIM" issue is probably due to an improperly cut sim card or something. With these nano sims, you don't have to be off by a whole lot to create a short circuit.

As for why your Apple says your one iPhone 6 is locked -- you haven't tried turning it onyet, right? As far as I'm aware, the phone will not show itself as "unlocked" until it tries pulling an activation ticket.

So lemme understand this you're not new even though your profile says since 9/10/2014.

It sounds like you bought the phones at a carrier store if some kind. Because again it's been proven over and over again, in multiple countries that the full price att/Verizon/tmobile iPhone 5c/5s/6/6 plus is gsm unlocked from the apple store.

You title a thread saying for people to stop saying the apple store full price iPhone is unlocked even though there's a mountain of evidence and proof saying otherwise.

I get what you mean, by fact I mean this is something happened in front of me with inserting the sim, and yes, it could be a technical problem if I haven't tried two sim cards which works great on my iphone 5s.

Anyhow, I will have few days till confirm not one, but two iphone 6 plus's' and i hope it will work fine.

I've already paid 1600$ and I really hope it will not be waste.

Thanks all for your help so far.

So this phone was purchased where? And how?
Easy solution just return it.
You're claiming that you're the only one out of thousands who got fully unlocked iPhones sold at an Apple store for a full priced T-Mobile iPhone 6.

Hi all,

After everything I read online and the confirmation I got the t-mobile version is free, my friend went and got a phone, he turned it on for the first time in another country with the t-mobile sim on and it worked fine, after that he inserted another sim and they said that sim is invalid.

I've ordered two iphones t-mobile contract free, I've checked with apple support with the serial numbers and they confirmed that one is unlocked (which I turned on with t-mobile for the first time) and one is locked (which is still in the box)

I think this means that the phone should first be turned on with t-mobile sim in USA and be activated then we can use it anywhere else.

Any ideas here?

You must purchase it directly from apple for it to be unlocked when you select tmobile. If you buy from tmobile, even though your paying full price, itll be locked.

I have bought 6 T-Mobile iPhone 6 full price from apple for me and family members. All of them are unlocked! Some were used in other countries first and some in the states.
My phone first thing I did is kept an international sim card in it and it worked fine then I sawped in my at&t SIM card which still worked.

I can't see why yours is locked.

Bought a t-mobile 6 before, popped the sim out, placed my At&t sim in and bam, it DID NOT work and is NOT unlocked. (Confirmed by Apple and T-Mobile)

Nah, i'm the second one.

Which retailer did you buy it from? (obviously not from apple)

Every time you restore an unlocked iPhone in iTunes you will get the unlocked message in iTunes.

False.
It will not always show that message. For many of my unlocked iPhones I only saw that screen once and never poped up again no matter if restored or updated many times after.
Testing it out with another carriers sim is a 100% indicator to know if it's really unlocked or not.
People should not think that because that message didn't come up their iPhone is locked.

It will popup every time with the factory unlocked iPhone 6 if you are using the latest version of iTunes.

Didn't read the entire thread...

Every iPhone has a activation policy listed when the serial number is run.

So... Could have an Apple employee run your iPhone serial number or IMEI and ask what your activation policy is. (Not sure if they'll readily tell you that info)

I'm not 100% on that.
On carrier unlocked iPhones it doesn't always pop
Up. And on factory unlocked iPhones it doesn't either.
Currently there is no official factory unlocked iPhone 6 sold. These are all carrier specific iPhones.

In my experience, carrier unlocked phones always show the message (ATT and T-mobile), while factory unlocked phones (Verizon and SIM free phones) don't show the message. I'm not sure what happens with ATT and T-Mobile phones that are sold device only from the apple store
