There's actually a lot of people with smartphones (mostly cheap Android ones) on prepaid who don't subscribe to cellular data. Makes sense when minimum wage is less than ~US $200/mo and data is $20/mo or more than 10% of one's income.

Personally, even 256GB wouldn't cut it for the month-long "vacations" (really mostly family reunions). I bring my laptop with me plus a couple of 2.5" HDDs (2-4TB) and use that as my portable media server/HTPC (have Plex and Emby installed).

Exactly. I spent a lot of time in the Islands, but before cel phones. Mostly cheap android phones here also.
