Umm, so? Who said you had to use the feature? THAT was his point.

No the point was that it's wasting our phone's resources, and it's something that has no functionality to us (ie everyone but Americans living in the United States).

It would be like changing the Weather App to show all this other data (and therefore increasing the complexity of the API, and the length of the code, and how they tax the resources of the phone) - but that is only relevant for people living in Holland.

How would you feel about that? I bet Americans would be pretty irritated. Kind of like I am with the Street View. Do you understand now?

I would have no problem with Street View if it served everyone to some degree or another, but until it does it was, quite frankly, a dick move to put it in a mandatory update.

...

Thanks, but thats just plain stupidof apple not to release it on ipod touch.

WHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOO! :apple: just failed!

You guys do realize that this is an AMERICAN company right? Sure they sell internationally and they are trying and have a pretty, I think, significant international database. But at the end of the day this is "Apple Designed in California" first and foremost.

And you do realize that the decision of which areas are pictured, has nothing to do with Apple, right? :)

Google's the one taking the photos. It's their app.

Nope...it's Apple that decides if an app or software mod is approved or not. Once again, Apple didn't consider their international users.

Wrong. You know that Google Street View for most of europe isn't even ready yet? ;)

At the moment six French cities - Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Toulouse and four Spanish cities Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and Valencia started to introduce street view. Recently also Italy received four camera icons for the localities of Florence, Milan, Rome, and Lake Como.

Here is the table for the Future of Google Street View

I'm trying to understand your position, but I just can't do it.

First I STILL wouldn't care because it's not like this extra feature is taking away half a gig that I could be using for music/movies/apps..most of the information is stored on google servers and is sent to my phone to display, so if I wasn't using the feature it's not taking up background processes unless I ask it to.

Second, if it were only live in Holland but was COMING to America I would appreciate the fact that I would only need google to come through with it's availability, instead of an update to the phone because...the setup is already there.

You can make the argument all you want, but for the most part street view is a welcome feature. When you have it you won't be complaining..

Thank you for the information. i was wondering how to get there. This helps out tremendously.

I seen my uncle's house in Wisconsin and I just love it. I can look at it whenever I get homesick for Madison. Which is often enough.

Now all I need is this: someone to explain to me what the hell Street View is good for.

I understand what it does, I just don't get why it useful. Not even Google can explain that to me.

Its good for Thieves to get a good look at your house. to look around to see the best way to steal your stuff

having to Drop a pin first is annoying.

I'm not real thrilled with having to drop a pin to use the street view feature. It would be a lot cooler to just push a street view button and have it triangulate on my current location.

...Although, I get pretty accurate positioning on the 3g phone but it sounds like some others don't so you could be looking at street view and actually be a couple streets over. perhaps they chose the pin drop method because the location isn't always so accurate...oh, and 2g phones have no GPS. Maybe pin drop really is necessary.

I know what you mean. I wish they would remove all that international crap from my phone. They must be having some negative effects, even though I can't prove it.

I can prove it by the size of the update alone. The additions to the APIs are enough to tax my phone more than before. It's not rocket science it's common sense. Anyway it's pointless to argue. Apple made it's poor choice and I'll have to live with it.

I'm having a problem with Street View not loading up at all with full 3G coverage.. Even maps don't load up correctly.. Very very slow or stopped completely.. Anyone else been having this problem?? It happens quite often for me
