The AW training manual was leaked and out in the open, and we can inform you he didn't quite tell you the entire story. The bands will work with all collections but they may not match aesthetically and possibly from a galvanic corrosion standpoint. He meant you'll be able to get the sport band separately in addition to the link bracelet that comes out of the box with Space Black SS.

Notice it said SS or Space Black SS. It under what's come in the box for the SS with the sport band.

To me, the SS is so much nicer looking than the sport that I can't imagine any internal struggle other than if price is an issue...

It's a piece of jewelry...a fashion statement. You're essentially wearing it as a declaration to others because you care at least somewhat how you are perceived by them.

Jony Ive understood this, and that is why the watch was approached in this way. Not many people care if they carry an identical phone in their pockets as other people. But if you're wearing something on your body, such as a watch, you want it to be somewhat unique and a representation of your own personal taste and style. And it kinda kills the feeling if you see everyone with the same watch...

One surely wants their watch or other jewelry to express their personal style and you're correct... many people wear certain things to show off or to try to impress others.... However I believe those people are in a minority. I believe most people buy objects for themselves and don't mind seeing another one in the wild as it simply reinforces their choice as being the "correct" one. I used to care what others thought about me and my brother didn't. We'd both receive the same amount of money to shop for school clothes each year yet he would have several more unique outfits because he didn't care about wearing the "generic" version of something and I needed the name brand.... to try and impress people. It was a really sad way to think and as I look back it wasn't a very happy time in my life so I feel a bit sad for those that, as an adult, still act in such a way. (this was in my early teens.... I haven't grown up much sense but at least I have in this aspect)

I say get what you want, be happy with the choice made and don't sweat what others have..... same or different your experience shouldn't change one bit and neither should your happiness. (by your I mean anyone in general not you specifically)

The blk sport band will still have the silver SS clasp, and the leathers will have all silver SS metal, so they will really not work.

That's why you buy the Sport band for the Space Grey Aluminum watch. As opposed to the Sport band for the SS watch.

Ok got it thank u guys for bringing the light to this misunderstanding. I really wanted the Space grey SS with the black sport band, I wish Apple offered it out of the box like that. Really don't like the shiny stuff, so i am leaning towards the Space grey sport now.

SS for me. If I get the aluminium one I will only regret it. Just can't decide about the band though. I really want the ss band but I keep wondering if a leather strap will suffice

I just think that the SS looks classier and I am not sure how well the gorilla glass will stand up to every day bumps

The issue for me is the weight factor

The reason I don't wear my watch I have now is that it is too clunky feeling.

With the SS being 50g and the Aluminum being 30g..... the difference could potentially be substantial when wearing it all day.

That's for the case alone. Are you aware that the Sport bands can weigh up to 51g, heavier than the SS bands except the link bracelet?

Currently the Sport band is the only one I'm interested in. According to the site it is 40 g on both the SS and the Aluminum

So 90g total for SS, 70 for aluminum. Doesn't seem like a lot but its hard to say

The SS def looks nicer, but if they upgrade next year I will feel bad if I get it.

Wish they we had an idea of what will come next year.

Ok I see, my wife like the SS as well. I would like to get the space black SS but I can't justify $1099 for just the one. And seeing that I will be buying one for my wife and myself.

After much deliberation, I have decided to go with the Aluminum Sport model, Space Grey with black strap. I also really like the white strap look as well. I'm not going to pick a second strap up right away, but may pick it up in the future.

I definitely like the Stainless Steel look better, but I think after the initial excitement wore off, I came to decide on the entry level casing because:

1) As much as I really think I'm going to like and use this thing, I don't really know yet. It doesn't makes sense (to me anyway) to go in with a more expensive model that doesn't add any more functionality not knowing 100% for sure that I am sold on it.

2) I really think I am going to like the watch a lot and use it, but I also think the Apple watch has A LOT of room to grow. This first iteration is extremely dependent on your iPhone. I really think over the next iteration or two, they will add a lot more "independent" functionality to the Apple Watch (think GPS), along with possibly adding more sensors, or tightening up the accuracy of what's already in there. Also, possibly improved battery life, increased water proofing, etc.

I will feel a lot more comfortable dropping $700 or $800 on a Stainless Steel model once I have had a year or two of use under my belt, and knowing I'm getting a more refined version with iteration 2 or 3 in the future.

I'm thinking along the same lines. Now I only wear a watch every now and then and at this point view the Apple Watch as a gadget which I will use/enjoy but may not wear every day. Until I better understand how I will use it and how often I will wear it, it is hard for me to justify buying the SS version with the band that I would ideally want - if I only think about it as $200 more for the SS that is one thing and if I knew that I'd wear it every day then it wouldn't matter to me, but at this point when I view it more as a toy, I am hard pressed to justify spending 50% more (100% more with the band I'd choose). Until I am set on it being more than a toy, I don't view the fashion aspect as material and only once I view the fashion aspect as material will I want the SS with a leather band.

Also, if I had to guess, after 12-24 months under their belt with this version of the watch, Apple will make some significant improvements (not sure what but hard to imagine they will not). I don't view this a "pre" version but the other reason I don't want to spend 100% more at this point is because before it is out in the market and in the hands of a broad base of users, it will be impossible to know whether this is a fully baked version that they will marginally build on version to version or whether it is merely a "great start" which will lead to significant differences in gen 2. No way that I am staying away from gen 1 but just not willing to fully invest in it.

Get the watch that you want and buy her a Swatch :)

I think that the resale values on the SS models will be higher than the sport which if you upgrade regularly may be something to consider

I've owned a lot of Apple first generation products and gen 2 tends to always be a dramatic difference of the first product (everything after gen 2 tends to be just iterative) and as much as I would like the 42mm Stainless Steel w/ Milanese loop band, I am not sure if I can justify $700 for a first gen product. Space Grey is my fall back option.

I'm still undecided though, I keep going back and forth on both models.

I also can't decide on the 42mm Sport/Space Grey/Black Sport Band or the 42mm Watch/SS/Black Sport Band (and probably an extra black leather loop).

The sport will be $700 after tax and apple care, assuming apple care is $99.
(Canadian, so $519+$99+tax = $700 aprox).

The SS with black sports band will be $975 after tax an apple care
($779+$99+tax = $975 aprox).

But I'd expect to sell my watch when version 2 comes out, and although just a guess, I'd say the sport will sell for $275 and the SS might sell for $350. So after you deduct that from original price, it's like comparing a cost of $425 vs. $625.

I'll probably go for the SS, been leaning on that for over a week. For an extra $200, get the one you want, enjoy it more, you'll look at it every 10 minutes, so might be worth it.

PS: I hope these bands are compatible with version 2!

Yea I am going to get the 38mm SS for my wife and maybe the 42mm for my self. I also like the SG sport as well, I always like the darker colors in watches. This is my current set up at the moment, and they are both SS. Never have a watch that was aluminun, so don't know what to make of it. But the SG Sport looks good and the price is not bad at all.

My Citizen Eco drive has been pretty solid, the Invicta as well. Use the Citizen for beach days and a couple of scumba diving in the Keys. I have been doing a lot of research, and it's seems that most of the solid higher end watches are made of SS. Hmmmm don't know why Apple didn't just make SS and gold version, and sell the SS for a reasonable price. Even though I think the regular SS is a good price, until u add the link band of course. apple should have gave us the option to get the Space black SS out the box with the sport band. But I will make my final decision on the 10th.
