I'm at the University of Michigan and we've deployed Bluesocket; the router will dish you out an IP address, however in order to access the network or use network services you are redirected to a login page when opening any link in a browser.

With that said, my Touch works great on the umich network.

the connection works at my university, but for some reason safari freezes a lot when i'm on that network, but not when i'm at home. anyone else getting this?

Your university doesn't use MAC Address security? I mean, what more do you need? Sure, people can change their MAC addresses, but if the address isn't in the network, it's useless.

Other styles of security is silly to me.

You can spoof in MAC address in seconds. MAC Address security is even more worthless than WEP. At least with WEP you need to sniff a lot of packets to crack the encryption. Anyone with a wireless card can find a valid MAC address on a college campus in 1 second.

Here in sunny Southampton, UK, we have BlueSocket and a VPN server and the Touch works a treat. Don't need to carry the MacBook to Uni each day for light email and webbing any more. :D
