Hi,

Is anyone having issues updating their Studio Display? I get this message when trying to update.

Only had it a few days!

I got mine on 27th March and I updated it right away. There was no problem at that time. Probably there is some Apple server issue now?

Trigger update after connecting to different Mac. ( first I tried with MacBook Pro 13 m1 and it failed, Then I tried with my iMac 2020 and it succeeded )
I do not have another Mac to hook it to. The only other macs in the house are 12 years old or older. I guess I could get an adapter to hook up my 2011 MBP but not sure the old os would even fetch the firmware update.

Just connected my Studio Display to my MacBook Pro 14" with 12.3.1 and I guess the display just auto updated on its own in the background since I'm seeing version 15.4.

I thought it was an M1 problem. The upgrade fails on both my new Mac Studio and my M1 MacBook Air. So decided to try intel and upgraded my 2019 intel iMac to 12.3.1 (which I had to do using terminal as it wouldn't work using Software Update!) - plugged in the Studio Display and it downloaded 15.4 but then failed with same message as on M1.

When I got my ASD two weeks ago, it updated with no issues via my M1 Air. Unfortunately it’s in its way back to Apple with a problem and engineering want to take a look at it so Apple will be sending out a replacement once they receive the old one so will be interesting to see if I can update the firmware unless as suggested there is a server issue.
having said that, I would have thought that the latest displays being shipped would have 15.4 preinstalled by now.

Isn’t the problem that this display runs iOS?

iOS 15.4 is no longer being signed by Apple. Which means you can’t download that version.

The Studio Display is not currently getting iOS 15.4.1 for whatever reason, so I’m assuming it’s stuck for the time being until Apple pushes a new version to it.

Could be!

For what it is worth, it appears that new Studio Displays are shipping with 15.4 installed, and there is no 15.4.1 update available. I just got mine in the last couple of days.

I think we have a winner!
