OK, so here's the thing...

What about short bald overweight left-handed people with an overbite?

Smart or dumb?

Or how about me -- average height, slightly overweight, slowly receding hairline, over 30, with a dimple in my chin?

Smart or dumb?

I'll have you to know, I don't have an overbite, and I speak quite well, thank you very much. So bugger off on the personal attacks. :p :D

taller=smarter?

Given that the average size of humans has increased over the centuries, one might conclude that mankind is getting smarter. Ooops, I think I just proved the study wrong  Well, I am 189cm tall. :D

I don't believe it. There is no correlation between larger animals and being more intelligent (think of an elephant and how smart it should be). In fact, the size of the brain to size of animal is what matters, that also explains why humans are so smart.

A patient's family gathered to hear what the specialists had to say. "Things don't look good. The only chance is a brain transplant. This is an experimental procedure. It might work, but the bad news is that brains are very expensive, and you will have to pay the cost yourselves."

"Well, how much does a brain cost?" asked the relatives.

"For a male brain, $500,000. For a female brain, $200,000."

Some of the younger male relatives tried to looked shocked, but all the men nodded because they thought they understood. A few actually smirked. But the patient's daughter was unsatisfied and asked, "Why the difference in price betweem male and female brains?"

"A standard pricing practice." said the head of the team. "Women's brains have to be marked down because they have been used."

I only got 11. That means two and a half inches is worth one point. Interesting...

ha ha! Good effort. 12 was my record last night, normally hover around the 8 mark. Glad to see someone else competes too.

Socially descriminated against, hahahaha. Try fitting on an airplane when you are 6'4", or try fitting in a sedan. Get your knees hitting the friggin steering wheel. Try dancing with that lovely lady you've admired for a while. It's akward as hell when you are a foot taller.
agreed on all points (Including exact height :p )

i'm 6.6" and still growing. my first report card this mid year said straight A bar an A+, enough said...

Doesn't mean **** as I'm 5'6" and I got a GPA of 3.5 out of 4.

This is just another excuse to let the tall feel better than everyone else. And if this is truly the case, I feel bad for all the jocks who are dumber than a brick and prove this study wrong.

But there are plenty plently of advantages of being tall. :) I exploit a lot. I don't think intelligence is tied with hight in anyway. Ive seen real dumb short and tall people. Mostly blondes ;)

Seconded. It was a pain to even just kiss my ex-girlfriend when we were dating. She was 5' 1", I was 6' 3".

Wow. I'm noticing that a lot of people are either praising or calling this study BS based only on personal anecdotes. You guys do realize that anecdotes, compared to a sample size of between 8637 to 435514 people studied over decades, mean nothing, right?

Anecdotes are especially useless because when our minds recall something, we tend to only remember things that support our biases in the first place, making the "obvious" evidence seem more convincing than they really are. The other thing is exactly what Mr. Skills mentioned repeatedly: this study claims that taller people are correlated with being smarter. This could also mean that smart people tend to eat healthier and sleep longer so they tend to grow taller or that taller people are smarter. There's no way to tell which is right

Either way, the biggest problem I see with this study is that it's completely based on surveys. It's easy to present yourself as better or wealthier than you are when you are surveyed and people who don't want to be surveyed don't get included so the sample population isn't representative of real life.

Which is probably why things have morphed in to anecdotal, short stories.

Isn't Tom Cruise like 2'?

I'm 5'11. I'm at university... but then again everyone is these days!

my friend who is like 5 ft...is by FAR the smartest person in our school so i'm inclined to think this is bs.
