Ahh, relax guys!! Why all the worry, friends?

We cross the border every so often to get a look at the goings on with our southern buddies. We need to know you guys are ok and are enjoying your finely brewed Canadian beer and doughnuts.

So you see, the 'tourists' you see are in fact under cover RCMP officers!
I thought that was our counter-insurgency forces preparing for a preemptive strike... :)

Geez guys you complain about us coming down when really the retail industry down there depends on cross border shopping. Military Road and the surrounding area is a prime example of that.

To top it off if anybody from Canada camps out at the Galleria they all probably live just 20 minutes outside our border (otherwise they'd head to the nearest Rogers, or maybe one of the three Apple stores in the GTA)... So there might be all of 2 dozen Canadians (maybe) in that line.

does everyone think that there would be a need to camp out or do you think Apple will do the right thing and have enough in supply. I really was planning on stopping there after work around that 6 PM time and picking one up. I didn't get my first gen on launch day but anyone who did how was it at the galleria?

It's about demand and supply. Create the demand 1st and then supply. That's my theory ;) Who knows if there is going to be enough to get around. Just to get to your destination early enough to secure your iPhone as I know I will :D I'm taking the day off.

Hmm, well if the Canadians come over by the busload then that can't be the problem as a bus only takes up one parking space. It must be all the Americans with their big SUV's taking up your spaces at the mall.

I don't suppose there are any Canadians who drive big SUV's either. Since when are big SUV's "American"? Last time I looked, many of these SUV factories were IN Canada. I think it is you (Canada) who should be blamed for this SUV "problem":D

I think there will be plenty of supply. I'm guessing that was one of the reasons for not having the phones available until July 11th. Lets just hope that the forecast the correct amount of product to send to each store.

On the topic of Canadians.

Ever since the Canadian dollar became of value they come over the border and shop at our malls by the busload. This makes it impossible to find parking at the mall (whre the apple store is located btw.). If i need to go to the mall for whatever reason it takes me anywhere from 45 min to 1hr to find a parking spot.

I can recall going to the Galleria to buy Mr. Pibb for years (even when our dollar was at like 70 cents or something) and the parking lot was STILL packed. On another note, would any really drive around for 45 minute to find a spot?

Do the Canadians pay more or less for gas? If it's more... you'd have to be loaded to afford to drive an SUV.

And I'm pretty sure SUVs are becoming more a thing of the past... unless you have like 12 kids... because no one can afford to put gas in them.

at the launch of the first iPhone in the uk there were loads of campers and hype on the news. Everyone was saying you wouldn't get one unless you had camped. I phoned carphonewarehouse "on the off chance" I was told I could get one sent out for the following day. It turned up at 10am. I'm not going to bother camping for this one either

Make sure to bring a red magic marker with you to the Apple stores on July 11 so you can write a BIG "L" (loser) on the foreheads of the morons that camp out for an Iphone.

JUST LIKE the 1st gen Iphone there will be NO shortage. I was a IDIOT and camped out overnight and paid people to wait in line only to see people walk into the apple store that evening and the next day and the next day and purchase an Iphone.
Apple got me once, you wont get me twice... and even IF (big IF) they run out its not like there wont be more coming in the next day or so.

I think that Apple realizes that there will not be a huge demand like the 1st Iphone with the terrible economy and the only difference between the 1st and 2nd gen is its faster.... oh and it will cost more.. what a DEAL!

I actually wonder how many people, like you, will be taking the day off to ensure their spot in line. I don't work on Fridays so I won't have to use a vacation day :-D

I am on Vancouver Island and gas is $5.53/gallon assuming I did the conversion right

We have SUVs too, but they don't come with the gun rack option. ;) Well, except in Alberta. But the truck factories are closing down soon.

ahh i miss buffalo's winters. i was suppose to be up there on the 11th but i had to stay home and work that week.

It's a known fact that yes there are gonna be campouts at Apple stores across the country or even countries.
Not in Belgium, you camp out next to an Apple store and you'll wake up missing your kidneys and all your clothes.

No offense to Canadians, I don't mean to generalize all of you, but the ones who travel up into Buffalo are, for the most part, terrible drivers.

I live within 5-8mins of the Galleria mall. Many of my daily commutes bring me into the Galleria Mall area whether I like it or not, and it is swarming with Canadian license plates, especially on the weekends.

Whenever I see Canadian plates around the mall, the cars are just swerving around. Usually when I pass Canadian cars around the mall, the drivers are always starring at GPS devices, not the road. I'm almost more cautious when I see Canadian plates by the mall, especially around the Thruway/Expressway entrances, cause if the GPS tells you to merge right/left, even if you aren't in the right lane, you are doing whatever you have to do to get over in the correct lane fast, even if there is no room for you.

I'm glad you guys come up and spend your money here, lord knows the Buffalo economy needs it, but uses your eyes more, not the GPS.

:)

Well you might have a point, all the lane changes turns and lights to go through between the expressway and Mall entrance may confuse people from the 'burbs (most likely they are either in a Van, SUV, or some sort of Lexus like vehicle right?).

Also I've noticed when driving in the Buffalo area that most drivers there don't understand that blinking light on the side of the car means the driver would like to turn, or go into the next lane on that side. ...Mind you here in Toronto that blinking light usually means "I'm turning buddy, let me in or get hit. It's up to you." so most people politely comply.

To get back on topic, I don't think many Canadians are going to find much benefit in crossing the border, waiting in line, paying for the phone in U.S. Dollars, and paying taxes when they come back through.

lol I guess I'm just used to driving with Canadians. I have no problems with the average Canadian driver, my only issue lies with those who choose to drive 110km/hr in the fast lane, when traffic in the fast lane usually moves along around 140km/hr.

Yeah, I think the OP just wanted to complain about Canadians. I doubt ANY Canadians will be crossing the border to get an iPhone. It doesn't make any sense!

It's cool though, we're used to Americans blaming us for their problems.

whats the chances that there will be a shortage?? id really like to get one the day of realease but I wont be going till 6:00pm
As noted by another poster, there were no shortages when the first iPhone was released. I think it wasn't until later in the weekend that a few Apple stores in California ran out of stock, but most stores seemed fine for at least a week. (AT&T stores, on the other hand, all seemed to run out.) I'm one of many people who strolled into the Apple store at Clarendon around 7:30 on launch day and had my iPhone in hand within 20 minutes.
