No, the interface size on such a diagonal is optimal 👌 Although there is still quite small text in some places of the system and applications. That is, if the resolution were higher, it would be even more difficult to read such text 🧐

this led me to believe that 27" 4K is actually terrible for macOS scaling. It's definitely gonna be blurrier than Windows in theory. 1080 is obviously exactly half, hence I thought this would actually look comically big oO hmm

No blurriness, because HiDPI is used! I am simply delighted with the scaling and clarity on the LG 27UP650-W 🥳 With such a diagonal and such a resolution, the pixel density per inch is 163. Yes, it does not reach Retina, of course (218-220), but this pixel density is more than enough for a clear and beautiful image 👍 There is not the slightest thought that something is wrong with the scaling of macOS and / or applications. The image on the screen looks simply amazing! 😍

And yes, the system and application interface looks no worse than in Windows 10, if you set the scale in the Microsoft operating system to 200 %, which also divides 4K in half, turning it into Full HD.

So I have no idea what exactly the authors of that picture with graphs that you posted above wanted to say 🤷‍♂️

It's also funny to read when someone writes that Windows is a very smooth and fast system 🤣 🤣 🤣 The default web browser in Windows is Edge, which is based on Chromium. That is, there can be no talk of any smooth scrolling in this browser, especially on heavy sites like YouTube. Chrome, Edge, Opera, Vivaldi and any other web browser based on Chromium noticeably slows down, lags and stutters during scrolling of ANY sites, even fairly simple ones! This is first. Secondly, many applications do not have smooth scrolling at all, and instead use stepped scrolling. Thirdly, the implementation of the scrolling itself varies greatly from application to application. That is, there is no standardization, like in macOS (with Apple's Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, the built-in trackpad in a MacBook, or a regular mouse with a scroll wheel and the Mac Mouse Fix app). Animations in Windows 11 can also slow down in different situations. So I have no idea why you think that this disgusting Microsoft OS is so smooth, fast and responsive 🤷‍♂️

I no longer wish to discuss here this rarest wretchedness called Windows 🤢 🤮 I would not wish this filth to be used even by my most sworn enemy. It is even disgusting to remember this abomination 😏 Such a disgusting in every sense desktop operating system can only be dreamed of in a nightmare 😴 😲 😱

I'm done here! :)
I supported your arguments originally but there is too much bias here for me to continue doing so. You have a clear agenda against Microsoft and Chromium by the looks of things.

My arguments are based on real world experience.

Ironically, Edge is known to be one of the smoothest and fastest browsers out there, if not the smoothest overall, due to the scrolling implementation. Even in the Mac OS community.

Google Chrome is extremely smooth on my 175hz OLED, both with my main PC running Windows 11, and my work laptop running a bloated corporation build on dated hardware. If there was any perceptible stutter, OLED would show it. The only stutter you get in W11 is from poorly optimised apps such as Steam and Discord, which aren't even apps as much as they are web wrappers.

We all have issues with Apple's optimisation, and comparisons are great, but being blinded by agenda and bias leads to ignorance of what is factual.

No OS is perfect, but unfortunately for your own bias I can confirm that Windows 11 is significantly more polished in its current state than Mac OS has ever been post Snow Leopard. Chrome OS too, although I'm sure there are many ignorant people who still think it's a browser OS and nothing more.

The main issue is that with Windows 11 it's simply UI elements, like text rendering etc. On macOS it's the entire rendering pipeline incurring performance impact. If using HiDPI, rendering at a much higher resolution then downsampling it.

Me too!

It physically cannot be faster and smoother than its original (Chromium), on which it is based 🤷‍♂️ Any web browser based on Chromium will be a priori slower than Chrome. This is quite logical and this is a fact that I personally have verified, having tried different web browsers based on Chromium (Opera, Vivaldi, Edge, etc.). All these browsers have additional burden in the form of certain features, settings, graphical shell, etc., so they ALWAYS work slower than the original, which is free of all these additional burdens. It is surprising that such simple things have to be explained to people 👀 If you want to know what really buttery smooth scrolling is, just install Firefox and compare for yourself who scrolls, for example, YouTube smoother, Chrome or Firefox. All you have to do is open this playlist on YouTube, hit the End key on your keyboard multiple times to load the entire playlist of 774 videos, and then start scrolling back and forth in different ways. I assure you, you will be very surprised at how terrible Chrome is when it comes to smooth scrolling. And yes, this is just one example ;)

Poor macOS optimization is also a greatly exaggerated statement. Yes, the scrolling is not the smoothest, but damn, where is it smooth in Windows 11? 🤨 This system does not have a clear concept of how this scrolling should be implemented 🤭 In some applications, it is not there at all (stepped scrolling works) 🤦‍♂️ Even the Shift key for horizontal scrolling does not work anywhere, except for Firefox, Edge and any other web browser based on Chromium. This is just a SHAME!!! 👎 When opening 20-30 windows and pressing the Win + Tab key combination, the animation is terribly slow! Even the panel with symbols and emoji manages to freeze during such a seemingly simple action as scrolling! 🥶 And the funniest thing is that it’s not even scrolling with strong jerks and stutters, it’s just a freeze frame! 😱 And this, in your opinion, is a fast, smooth and responsive system?! 🙄 Are you kidding me??? 😅 😂 🤣 What kind of smooth scrolling throughout the entire system can we talk about in this case?! 😆 Are you serious??? macOS does not have any of the above. And if in one of its next updates Apple can greatly improve the performance of its system (fortunately, everything for this is available), then Microsoft will never do everything in 30 years that Apple has already managed to do for its system. I've been using Windows for over 20 years and I can clearly see where Microsoft is going — nowhere! I'm serious! It's just marking time at best (see stagnation), but more often than not it's degradation mixed with constant attempts to make a revolution, which ALWAYS end with them releasing another rare piece of crap (see Windows 8 and Windows 11), which even the most ardent fans of this miserable company spit on. I know a lot of people who, having switched to a Mac, will never return to Windows, and I don't know A SINGLE person who would switch from a Mac to Windows and stay on Bill Gates' operating system. And that already says a lot.

Microsoft's operating system is not even close to macOS! By the way, an operating system is not only about performance, but also: user interface, functionality, ease of use, thoughtfulness in details, security, adherence to guidelines, availability of high-quality built-in software, a well-implemented file system and much, much more. All of this is present in the Apple operating system and is completely absent in the Microsoft operating system, although they have been polishing it for about 40 years! 😁 Only a person who does not understand operating systems at all will contrast a cheap fake called Windows with a truly chic operating system from Apple 😅
And yes, the word "polished" is not applicable to Microsoft operating systems at all 🤯 It even sounds extremely ridiculous and absurd o_O
Chrome OS too, although I'm sure there are many ignorant people who still think it's a browser OS and nothing more.
Who uses Macs mostly? These are designers, photographers, musicians, artists, video editors, polygraphists and other creative people and content creators. That is, these are all people who make money on Macs 💰 Who uses Windows-based PCs: secretaries, office plankton (because it's cheap!) and... gamers! That's the entire audience! Who in their right mind uses ChromeOS? That's right, NO ONE! That's why it's funny to read how some ChromeOS has greatly outpaced Apple's macOS 🤣

Show me at least one professional photographer who would use any other Windows-based laptop instead of a MacBook Pro 🤔 There are none and there can't be! Simply because Windows still can't work correctly with color profiles and is unlikely to ever learn. Simply because Microsoft programmers don't care about correct work with color just as much as they don't care about their system 🤷‍♂️

It's funny, of course, that we have to start a holy war on the topic of Mac vs. PC on a forum dedicated to Apple))) It seems like the world has finally gone mad 🤯 🙃

My advice to you: learn to look at the picture as a whole, and not just at some of its components.

And in general, let's stop the off-topic on Mac vs PC here! This topic is dedicated to something completely different!!!

study this article, mate.
I also thought 4k wouldn't work for my mac mini, but I just set it to 2560 by 1440 in hidpi mode and it's identical to my macbook m1.

No performance issues whatsoever

Ok then, what about a 3440x1440p Ultra Wide 34" monitor? Cause the native resolution looks disgusting and the only default HiDPI mode is 720p lol.

which is exactly why I didn't buy a monitor like that.

Sell it and buy a 4k.
