Exactly. I'm not tweaking my toaster or my washing machine and in the very same way, a good phone should work. I probably agree on the faster animations but haven't tried it out myself yet to tell you if you are wrong.
Really? Most toasters have a control to allow you to set different lengths of time the toasting will take, so you can get something quicker (although not as toasted) or slower (but more toasted)...but it's within your control. Most decent/good washing machines will allow you to tweak the time you want for a wash and/or many other things too, if/when you might want to.

This is called given functionality but where exactly do you find the hidden control panel to make your toast jump higher out of your toaster or let the washing machine do 2000rpm
Why is it not there? Because it makes the product more complicated and therefore worse.

How would tweaking something in an OS through developer options not be part of given functionality. A typical OS provides the ability to tweak all kinds of things (sometimes only through more "expert/developer" type of settings, but it's still there). Now, Apple doesn't think that's needed, and that's fine as far as their vision of it, but that doesn't mean that in the sense of being able to tweak something like that in what is an OS is somehow atypical or unusual.

I don't think you are going to win this argument. For one thing, the products you are listing aren't really comparable. For another, any hidden menu would be well out of normal users eyes and abilities to access, but those who were interested would be able to make changes.

I promise that if I walked up to you and showed off my phone with lightning fast animations, and told you I could do your phone in 10 seconds, youd beg me to do it. How do I know? Because whenever I jailbreak my iPhones, I install an app that speeds up animations. People without fail beg me to speed theirs up. "Why doesn't apple just do that?" is a question I've heard 100x.

The difference is not everyone wants to JB. With a native settings app, we may not have to.

I like them

am I the only one who is OK with the animations?. I have no problem with the speed, and I actually enjoy the transitions. I think they make the system more fluid.

I'm with you. I don't have any problem with the animations. I keep looking at those videos and trying them on my phone and not only do I see little difference, I prefer them the ways they are. I fail to see why this is any sort of an issue. I'm ok with losing 1/100th of a second of my life while my phone unlocks or opens an app. It's just completely trivial to me.

And if an animation is too fast, is it actually an animation? At some point it becomes an instantaneous screen change. I'm guessing Apple slowed them to this rate on purpose. They look sorta cool.

Apple needs to trust its users more. Have a developer menu that can be enabled if a person looks hard enough. The non-tech people would never know it was there.

Apple to include a 'Developer Menu'? That isn't going to happen on iOS. The platform is going to be Apple's and that's how they run their show. Why not look into Xcode and start developing on your own? Show us what you want! Because your complaining about the unlock speed is pretty trivial.

I'm with you. By the time your eyes take in the animation it's ready to use.

I wonder how many of these impatient users realize that when you switch apps with the app switcher you are actually presented with a screenshot while the app actually loads. Try tapping anything in the app and you'll notice your touch won't register for a few seconds.

They might look cool but sacrificing productivity for coolness isn't that cool. They are definitely longer than they are in iOS 6 for no reason other than look cool, and there's a great number of people who don't really care about something on the phone looking a little cooler at the cost of them using the phone as quickly as they always did before.

This is probably why the animations are slower.

Here is a animation bug:
Follow these steps exactly
1. Have a folder with two pages of apps
2. With the folder closed hold down on the folder like your going to move it (let go)
3. Open the folder
(have to do this kind of fast)
3. Hit the home and tap below the folder to close it
4. Reopen the folder
5. Icons are blurry

Edit - I am on a 4s btw not sure if all devices have this problem

Ios7 does have a developer menu.. The only problem is that Hamaza Sood is a douche and wont say how to access it...

And thats why the animations look slow to you, because you like to speed things up... /thread

I'm fine with the animations, too. That said, I wouldn't complain if they were about twice as fast ;)

I do think Apple should enable an "Advanced Settings" menu for those of us who are geek enough to look for it.

If you want the advanced menu send a tweet to @hamzasood he is the one who found it and can give you instructions :)

He tweeted that it is still available in GM!!

Sounds like he had some sort of internal build and/or tool rather than anything else.

I don't think you know what firmware means

How about beta, as in unreleased, not complete, not intended for general public, etc

Maybe just take a look at my general posting level, you'll find that understanding what firmware means is not a problem.

Besides that i might help if people not jump on a legal bandwagon the second they feel they have been wronged.

It states at the end of the video, features are subject to change, anyone attempting to take legal action would be laughed out of court. Except in the States of course, which has a joke of a legal system, and sue culture. Only in America would you sue a restaurant for serving you hot coffee...

Except for you still don't understand what a firmware is.. and it's not what you think it is.. /sigh google is your friend btw! and if you can actually understand and read properly, you would see that the OP was being sarcastic, and his opening line clearly states: OK, no one is suing over animations, that's just dumb.

TL;DR - you still have no clue what a firmware is and you lack reading comprehension

It's GM now, it's what's getting released. It's not beta or something that the people won't be using in a few days. So none of that makes a difference really.

Sue Apple to get these animation speeds!

Even GM's can be changed...

Actually it does matter if you intend to sue anybody over a version which you are not supposed to install unless you are a developer, which implies you can expect some issues.

Besides that most complaints can be solved by resetting all settings, are related to slower devices or are just new features which are intentional. Some are genuine bugs which need to be addressed by apple, which i'm sure they will.

If you don't like 7 just go back to 6 and stay there or wait for a 'better' 7 version.
