no team can make it to the superbowl on the strength of one player. brady is not a normal QB, he's very talented, both physically and mentally.

Correct.

Ben has talent around him to get the job done, no team should expect their QB to have to come out and win the game for them, that is a recipe for disaster, just ask the Eagles, the Packers, the Falcons, the list goes on and on....

Also, as a Tom Brady HATER, I was loving the giant bath of Booo's he got last night from the Steeler faithful. Priceless.

Super Bowl Music

Anyone else think that the music they came on the field with had an impact? Who chose it?

The Seahawks came onto the Verve's Bittersweet Symphony - to me, that says that they were there, but not winning.

The Steelers came out to 'Right Here, Right Now' - much more upbeat.

The officials led the Steelers more than Roethlisberger did.
i know you're looking for an excuse for a steelers win, but the truly great teams overcome bad reffing. just look at the steelers win vs. the colts in the playoffs. the one play that everyone talks about is the polamalu interception that was incorrectly overturned, but there was a play earlier when a steelers receiver (crap, i'm forgetting who) was absolutely leveled before the ball arrived. no call, and the steelers, on their way to a score, had to punt.

two crap-ass calls, and they won the game.

that interference no call was 20x worse than the offensive interference call last night, which was indeed crap wrt how the game is played, but is correct according to the rules.

the seahawks, i agree, had a few ticky-tack calls against them, including the lame holding call negating the completion to the steelers 1 yd line and the call against hasselbeck on the pick. but those were overcomeable. and let's not forget the no-call on roethlisberger's pick, when he was clearly blocked in the back on the way to making a tackle. it should have been 1st and 10 from the 45 or so, not the 20.

yes, the seahawks had some bad calls go against them. if they had played at better, they would have won. if the steelers had played even half as well as they had in any of their 3 playoff games, we'd be talking about a 25+ point margin, not an 11 point one.

the steelers were the better team, and managed a win playing as badly as they did. that's what winning teams do.

the seahawks have a very strong team and a very good coach. if they can overcome this, they'll be back next year with a vengeance.

Average is a lot better than McNabb looked last year...
While I totally believe that winning is the only thing that matters, I'd still have to say that Don actually looked slightly more impressive in his lost then Ben in his win. Check out the stats:
Ben - 9/21 - 123 yds - 0 TD - 2 INT
Don - 30/51 - 357 Yds - 3 TD - 3 INT

For every bad thing Ben did, he did an equally good thing, I would say he broke even on his performance.
You're kidding, right? He has some great plays, but overall he played a terrible game by any standards.

Running for first downs, throwing for first downs..take away the picks, and he played a good game.
OK, take away the picks and maybe he played a decent game. Hell, while we are at it, let's add 5 TD to his stats.

It was not the Steelers best game by any means...but no one will remember the picks, or the calls, they will remember the W..
The first correct thing you said. Winning is everything when it comes to sports.

1. Hines Ward as MVP choked me up, because that guy has been coming out year after year and doing his job at a high level, with little or no recognition. on a run first team, he never complains, he just makes plays. So for Ward, I am estatic.
He is a good player. I don't know why you say he gets no recognition. Many people put him as one of the top 5 current WRs. But...he did hold out. Isn't that considered complaining?

7. Pittsburgh won this game on big plays, sparked by execution...I don't want to hear about the refs, because they shouldn't be a factor...
You are right, they shouldn't be. Too bad they where . . .

Hines held out so he would get paid....I am surprised, after T.O you would even bring that up...
Hines ward has nothing to do with TO. You said Ward never complained. Holding out (even if he did return) is the ultimate form of complaining.

Don't cry....your Eagles will win a few games next year...
No doubt about it. I'm just curious how many they will win. But what does this have to do with the topic at hand? You are getting pretty defensive. You keep bringing up the Eagles over and over. I can't figure out why anyone who's team just won the SB is so concerned with the Eagles who didn't even make the playoffs.

and looking at those stats for Don...I can't believe he attempted 51 passes....no wonder they lost...
Actually, it was the 3 picks that really did him in. They had a chance to win until McNabb threw his last interception with about 40 seconds left. 51 attempt really had nothing to do with it. But as a football fan, you probably already knew that.

You're right, my apologies...I'm still fired up for having to defend something I take so personal...I'm sure you know what I mean...I like the Eagles too, and I like Don...

not trying to talk smack...as a fellow PA (i moved) resident..I hope you enjoyed seeing our State get represented....

it is a shame that some people feel the way they do....but I know how I feel, and I didn't mean to take that low blow about your team...I'm better than that.
