Will that be the new Apple slogan? "Buy our phone with a small screen and hold it closer to your eyes."

Problem? Apple and their partners are in the business of selling things. They *want* people to buy new cases and accessories.

I don't get why people want such huge screens. How far away do you hold your phone from your face? 3.5" is reasonable, although 4" would also be good.

The accessories are made by 3rd party manufacturers. If you change your design, less products work with the current iPhone, making it less desirable. Look at the Android phones. They don't work with any accessories except generic MP3 player things.

The next iPhone needs a bigger screen, the 3.5" is just too small now.

"Now"? Why does everyone suddenly seem to need a bigger screen?

I complain about the screen size. I want edge to edge bigger screen with the home button removed and the power button acting as the home button

good thing you're not the designer of the iPhone...

having to use the power button every time you want to exit an app would suck, and make one handed use MUCH harder.

I wouldn't mind making it smaller; or even getting rid of the home button altogether, if gestures could replicate closing an app, app launcher, siri, etc?

I don't want the design to change.

There we go, what does apple do now?

I'm also divided on the matter. I think that the iPhone 4 design is a classic and I enjoy using it. It is pretty unique. But on the other hand it's probably safe to assume that Apple wouldn't mess up the evolution of their major cash cow. I'm sure a new design would be perfectly in keeping with the Johnny Ive tradition of sleek, sturdy products.

4.0" isn't much of an upgrade at this late date. Edge to edge makes for one very ugly phone. Hard to imagine them foisting this thing off on the public, yet again in many ways it's not.

Apples spent years programming the buyers to accept whatever they build.

Specs don't matter remember? ... Yeah Right LOL

In the end, my guess of the next iPhone looking like a "thicker" 4G iPod touch with 4.0 to 4.25 inch (101.6 to 108 mm) diagonal touchscreen in a case that is slightly curved like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is probably pretty close to correct. And the backing will be made of Liquidmetal in a form that will not interfere with the internal antenna for the cellphone radios. And the new iPhone is a true "world" phone--it will work on all known frequencies used for GSM, CDMA and 3GPP LTE, so it will work even in Japan and Australia at LTE speeds.

^^ they can't just magically make cell phone signals go through metal, and no they can't do it through this "liquid metal" that everyone thinks is some great new metal apple invented(and no they didn't).

Why do you think macbooks have plastic hinges for wifi antennas. mac minis have plastic bottoms. 3G ipads have plastic parts, the original iphone with an aluminum back had a plastic part, etc.

It is NOT possible to stick a bunch of cell and wifi antennas inside an all aluminum case and expect to get any type of reliable signal.

And people who want an entire iPhone, or macbook made out of liquid metal don't really understand it's purpose. It's made to be more similar to plastic where you can create a mold and then create a large number of metal parts for very cheap. This works great for things like the sim ejector tool. This would not be awesome for something like a macbook. First, the macbook is way too big, and second the nice feature of macbooks is that they are unibody, and milled from one piece of aluminum, not a bunch of "liquid metal" molds and then assembled.
