Pro users were the only cheerleaders in ancient times because Apple didn't have any decent consumer devices. After the release of iPods Apple got 100 times more cheerleaders than before. And Pro users didn't kick Apple to the curb. I don't know where you got that from.

He's saying Apple kicked the pro users to the curb.

but it's not longer necessary to buy every year a new one.

there are so many orher things which are much more important

apple - please focus to product quality and good working conditions

The iPad was three years ago. And where does it say they have to have a wow item every year or two or the company is crap? That is the kind of talk given by folks trying to tank the stock so they can buy cheap.

You want to know why the stock went down? Because of crap talk like yours. Especially crap talk insinuating that Steve Jobs was the only person with a brain at the company and with his death the company was just spinning its wheels until it dies completely. Instead of noticing that despite the loss of a friend, despite the need to grieve and find their footing without him, the company has kept breaking sales records quarter after quarter.

Never get emotional about an investment, brah. It spells disaster almost 100% of the time.

Its comments like this that make me laugh my head off....

You lack the imagination to see the potential of such a product...yet when Samsung introduces yet another way to scroll through a webpage (since you know, flicking with your thumb is so cumbersome), you probably think its "innovation".

Newsflash, Samsung doesn't innovate. They take ideas/task that already exist and do them in a different way - most of the time, that different way isn't even more efficient...its called change for the sake of change....that's a gimmick my friend.

On the other hand, an iWatch could open up security possibilities and new tech we aren't even thinking about. Imagine wearing a watch with biometric sensors in it that, when in proximity with your phone, allow you to use it freely without any passcode or restrictions.....as soon as the phone gets out of your reach - complete lock down.

How about the same tech which will also warn you if you leave your phone somewhere, or if it is stolen?

How about a watch that tells time (duh) and the weather, without having to pull your phone out of your pocket? Or how about NFC implemented in a watch as opposed to a phone? Biometrics will make sure no one else can use the data stored on it (unless they cut off your hand above the wrist...at which point I'd ask what did you do to piss someone off)....SECURE payment just by flashing your wrist at a payment terminal.

This is just what I've read/thought of....there are many more possibilities that I haven't thought of.....that's true innovation....interrupting the current market with something no one thinks of or knows they need until they see it.

Apple is in no way in trouble. Give credit to Samsung for marketing the hell out of a good phone....but lets not lose perspective....

Apple has sold more iPhone 4S (just the one model) than Samsung had sold of its entire Galaxy S line (S1, S2 and S3) COMBINED....They have a ways to go before they're playing on Apple's level....and I'd reckon Apple has some things up their sleeve this year.....the relative quiet only gives me more excitement for what's in store.
I'm happy that you find humor in the midst of a very conflicted year ahead for your favorite company. You're going to need it.

goodbye apple, hello samsung. this is what happens when you sit on your ass and let competitors catch up to you.

Exactly what is Samsung doing that Apple isn't? Making a larger screen phone? Since when did making devices larger = innovation? People want smaller laptops and tablets. WTH? It makes no sense.

Give me the smallest, lightest, most powerful phone available (iphone 5)! I'll use an iPad when I want a larger screen.

The design of the mini was quite innovative when one considers weight, thinness, performance, and battery life, not to mention beauty. Nothing else comes close at its size. The iPhone 5 using in cell display technology and custom A6, also has no peer. The 5S will leapfrog all others again, especially if it has fingerprint technology. A Newley redesigned iPad will sell like crazy, as will a retina mini. As for iOS, the reliability data recently published demonstrate how important it is for Apple to keep it simple. No other manufacturer was even close in the ratings. It will be important for iOS 7 to maintain this, it is a huge competitive advantage. And finally, 88% of iPhone users say they will definitely stay with iPhone vs. only 48% of Android users who plan to stick with the platform. Given that the 4S, much less the 5, out sold the S III during the holiday quarter, Apple is doing something right.

An iWatch, iTV etc. is only icing on the innovation cake.

You had to come and spoil the party with logic and facts...

...though it looks like you will be ignored, just like the facts you provide.

Logic is like a dead language

Yap, because "research and development for automated production, e-commerce and robots, while TSMC is mostly recruiting equipment managers" for future university graduates has a lot to do with current manufacturing.

iOS vs Android

What is is that android os has that's so much more advanced than iOS 6?

I was using a Nexus 4 the other day, which is actually a very decent phone. While I could see myself using the device possibly in place of my iPhone, I didn't see anything advanced about the OS that made me think it was light years ahead. If anything the two operating systems seemed to be pretty on par and alike in a lot of ways. Nothing felt that different really, it's just a matter of which ecosystem you want to jump into.

Both platforms have their strengths and weaknesses

Again with the stupid analyst report? Apple doesn't just sit on its ass all day and they don't have to announce what their up to every month or so neither. Strong sales, low demand, tight supply chain, blah blah blah

What is all this new and innovative stuff others are doing? And it hasn't been even 2 years since Steve died. What exactly do these people think Apple should have done the last 1.5 years? I suppose they could have released a 5" phone to wow the tech press and Wall Street but not sure what exactly is innovative about a larger screen. One could argue Microsoft was "innovative" with Windows 8 but the customer response seems to be quite muted. So why would Apple add touch screen to the macs when it's not taking off in the PC market? Again, I'd love to know exactly what innovation the Guardian thinks Apple should be doing that its not right now. Or are they just parroting the broader theme in the media echo chamber these days.

+1... lots of people seem to think Samsung is so innovative now... I'd like to know how? Larger screen? The way I look at it, it took them 5 years to finally catch up to Apple.... but now what? Who will be next to do something truly innovative like the iPhone was to begin with??? Tablet and phone upgrades from anyone at this point is not showing any innovation... at least at this point in time. Just more minor improvements of the same and realistically, it will probably be like this for a while for these devices... at least until we hit the next big metaphor change.

Why are you posting Business Insider stories Macrumors!!!? They are the Fox News / National Enquirer of financial analysis! I'd bet most of their traffic comes from anti-Apple posts.

With rather frequent solid rumors that iPhone 5S will be a direct copy of iPhone 5 in shape & size, the accessory case makers have hit the jackpot.

I wonder how much "grease" was handed off under the table to the company that's addicted to it :)

No, Steve is dead.

To assume that Apple is (was) one guy is a tad short sighted. For Example, Ive was at Apple for years before Steve returned. Steve may have helped promote Ive's work, but he was there.

The 20th anniversary mac, the eMate, and the original iMac (though released after Steve's return) were all Ive creations designed during the dark days.

Hard to believe, but there were glimmers of hope and excitement during the time that Apple was counted as being dead.

That's what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket.

Not to forget: It's almost Easter!

There are too many variables to use supply chain reports for monitoring business and sales.

What if a given supplier has to wait for a new component ?(higher resolution lcd, faster chip and other new technology developments etc.)

As products are updated the older models are always slowing down in
production.

To then gear up again and improve yields etc. also takes a while.

Also, why is it that sales always must go up and capacities in all factories at 100%?

That's not a real world picture anyway.

Product Releases

I'm an Apple user across the product line and a shareholder. There are arguments on both sides, but most analysts jump on the current bandwagon. Overbought on the upside, oversold on the downside. Product releases go in cycles and indeed Apple is shrinking the time between major product releases. Unreasonable expectations have driven the stock down but the two major products (iPhone and iPad) are still selling well. The company has earned a break based on past performance and creating change in the way we do things every day. Say all you want about Samsung and Android but it is very unlikely that their phones and tablets would even exist if Apple had invented the category. The next product is coming so let's see what it is before judging too harshly. One little change (and you know some are coming) - cheaper iPhone for the international market, iWatch, true remodeling of video content delivery (TV), China Mobile, etc and all the Apple bashing will stop. Risks are short term, opportunities are long term.

The Guardian newspaper (UK) had a great article this weekend explaining why Apple are in decline. There stock is down 40% in 6 months and they are not doing anything new or innovative that has the wow factor in recent years. They are not disappearing anytime soon but they are losing brand loyalty as people do want quality but also something new. If you have stock I would be tempted to ditch it! Buy it again when its at its lowest as im sure Apple will bounce back in years to come.

The ssue is that people are crying for a "game-changing product" and a "wow" factor. They don't even know what they want, and they don't even know if it'll be good. They somehow got the idea that it'll do less harm to Apple when they release a new product that nobody wants, rather than taking time to build something that everybody wants. I just don't understand how they go that idea.

I don't think people are crying for a game-changing product.

I think people miss Steve Jobs. Period.

iWatch is going to be so stupid. I'm afraid it will tarnish apple's "cool factor" even more. It's going to be considered extremely geeky and unfashionable.
