When I look again at the Duo it still appears to be an unfinished project in my eyes. Not convinced that if the Neo does eventually see the light of day it will be any better. Prove me wrong Microsoft!
I'm not defending the Surface line up, or MS, but I think the Go was poised to be a popular option, however with the pandemic, I think that changed things. For instance, for me, I was ready to buy a Go last year, I was waiting for it to be upgraded but then the pandemic hit and I'm working from home 100% of the time.the Laptop, Go, Book, Pro X and Duo all look like flops. In a quarter where PC sales spiked (and Mac was up 21%, iPad up 41%), the entire Surface line was up just 3%
Agree, the pandemic must have hurt it. But I think the lower-cost offerings were also just too weak to be appealing with puny Pentium CPUs and 4Gb RAM. By the time you moved up a level and added on the keyboard and pen, you were well into pricey laptop or iPad Pro 11" territory. Oh, and battery life was dismal.I like what the Go had to offer, but I just have no need, I suspect with so many people working from home the niche product line of the Go got a lot more niche
I was looking forward to The Duo, but after seeing the software issues and even a hardware issue (where a crack appears by the charging port) a few people have reported this.I'm not tempted by the Surface Duo (not in the UK either), but I've been tempted by the Surface Neo, the dual screen tablet. That was supposed to be released this past holiday season if memory serves me. Given how the Duo was received (or rather was not), I wonder if the tablet will ever see the light of day
The S21 Ultra is effectively the new Note. It supports the S-Pen.If Samsung don‘t make a Note 21 or Ultra this year, I will either stick with my iPhone or buy the Ultra on offer.
But you have to use the case which is very bulky and carry the S-pen separately. The Note has a more boxy design and more of a curved screen (which I really like). The S21 Ultra is effectively the new Note. It supports the S-Pen.
If the only differentiator is being able to store the pen within the body of the phone then the Note line is surely finished. iPads and Surfaces don't store their pens within the device either. The S21 Ultra has all the advantages of the Note while making the S-Pen optional (something Samsung's research may well have determined is a factor; how many Note owners consistently use the pen?).But you have to use the case which is very bulky and carry the S-pen separately. But the case (silicon with the pen attached to the side) looks so bulky and silly. I much prefer the look of the Note 20 Ultra. I hope they continue the Note series but If not I can just stick with what I have.S21 Ultra is slender in width so with pen case it might be a wash compared to the wider iPhone 12 Pro Max. Benefit is you get both pen and biggest battery capacity.

It’s not the only deciding factor. No they don’t store their pens inside but they do magnetically attach to the iPad Pro and the Surface devices. I’m not against the S-SPen coming to the S line up, but they shouldn’t discontinue the Note.If the only differentiator is being able to store the pen within the body of the phone then the Note line is surely finished. iPads and Surfaces don't store their pens within the device either. Don't get me wrong, I hope the Note line continues but I can't see it. The functionality has crossed over now.
Wouldn’t it be better to wait for the Pro 8? That’s suppose to be coming this year. Do you not like the Book 2?Well for some reason today I have it stuck in my mind I want to buy a surface Pro 7 and sell the Surface Book 2. Will let you know how it goes lol.
Personally I would say get 8GB Ram, especially if you are going to be using different software on it and multitasking. 8GB seems to be the standard these days.would 8gb be more efficient and worth the extra$ for the Surface go than 4gb of ram?
Nothing wrong with the SB2. Has a Pro 4 before and thought hey SB2 has a larger tablet screen which I used the pro 4 in most of the time being stupid not realizing the battery life on the SB2 tablet was only like 2hrs and missed the kickstand and sd card slot and ports on the tablet portion. As for waiting for the Pro 8 I'm coming from a base line 8th gen i5 surface book to a 10th gen and much better integrated graphics. I don't game or run any demanding software not worried about specs.Wouldn’t it be better to wait for the Pro 8? That’s suppose to be coming this year. Do you not like the Book 2?
Sounds like the Pro 7 will be great for you in that instance. If you don’t really game or use demanding software, the Book seems over kill.Nothing wrong with the SB2. Good point I forgot about the SSD. If I remember correctly the 8GB version also has a better processor as well. The Surface Go with 8 GB or RAM also has a faster type of SSD than the 4Gb version, as I recall from reviews in the past. So it is overall a better choice to "go" for the 8 Gb version.

I think the problem then becomes that once you start adding more ram and stuff, it increases the price to a point where the Pro 7 might be a better option for the money.
Probably because the Book is the do all of devices. It can be a laptop but also a detachable tablet. From what I’ve seen with the Book 3, it can handle games as well.Surface Book is the quiet hero of the bunch. The only Surface that ships with a beefy dGPU.
Other then bit locker, what features do you need/want that are in Pro vs. home?Windows 10 home instead of pro
