When I look again at the Duo it still appears to be an unfinished project in my eyes. Not convinced that if the Neo does eventually see the light of day it will be any better. Prove me wrong Microsoft!

The "hit rate" from the Surface team is pretty poor, TBH. Aside from the Pro (which hasn't had a redesign in years), the Laptop, Go, Book, Pro X and Duo all look like flops. In a quarter where PC sales spiked (and Mac was up 21%, iPad up 41%), the entire Surface line was up just 3% YOY: https://www.thurrott.com/windows/wi...t-posts-mixed-results-for-windows-and-surface

And that's just revenue. Rumblings are that it's never made a profit.

I'm not defending the Surface line up, or MS, but I think the Go was poised to be a popular option, however with the pandemic, I think that changed things. For instance, for me, I was ready to buy a Go last year, I was waiting for it to be upgraded but then the pandemic hit and I'm working from home 100% of the time.

The Go was going to be my secondary device to take notes, to hold data/info/PDFs, to be EDC device as I go to meeting or into the various offices my company uses. No there's no need for that, I'm not leaving my house for the foreseeable future, and there's rumors my company is working with the landlord to get out of their lease. I and my team may be working from home all the time now

I like what the Go had to offer, but I just have no need, I suspect with so many people working from home the niche product line of the Go got a lot more niche

Agree, the pandemic must have hurt it. But I think the lower-cost offerings were also just too weak to be appealing with puny Pentium CPUs and 4Gb RAM. By the time you moved up a level and added on the keyboard and pen, you were well into pricey laptop or iPad Pro 11" territory. Oh, and battery life was dismal.

I've always loved the Surface hardware concepts (had a few models of Pro and currently have a Book 2) but the market seems to have chosen the 360-convertible form factor.

I'm not tempted by the Surface Duo (not in the UK either), but I've been tempted by the Surface Neo, the dual screen tablet. That was supposed to be released this past holiday season if memory serves me. Given how the Duo was received (or rather was not), I wonder if the tablet will ever see the light of day
I was looking forward to The Duo, but after seeing the software issues and even a hardware issue (where a crack appears by the charging port) a few people have reported this.

I think at this point I’m giving up on the first gen version. If Samsung don‘t make a Note 21 or Ultra this year, I will either stick with my iPhone or buy the Ultra on offer.

The S21 Ultra is effectively the new Note. It supports the S-Pen.
But you have to use the case which is very bulky and carry the S-pen separately. The Note has a more boxy design and more of a curved screen (which I really like).

If the only differentiator is being able to store the pen within the body of the phone then the Note line is surely finished. iPads and Surfaces don't store their pens within the device either. The S21 Ultra has all the advantages of the Note while making the S-Pen optional (something Samsung's research may well have determined is a factor; how many Note owners consistently use the pen?).

Don't get me wrong, I hope the Note line continues but I can't see it. The functionality has crossed over now.

It’s not the only deciding factor. No they don’t store their pens inside but they do magnetically attach to the iPad Pro and the Surface devices. I’m not against the S-SPen coming to the S line up, but they shouldn’t discontinue the Note.

I like the boxy look of the Note with the curve display. I also like the look of the S21 Ultra but I can’t confirm because I haven’t seen it in person (unlike the Note 20 Ultra).

Well for some reason today I have it stuck in my mind I want to buy a surface Pro 7 and sell the Surface Book 2. Will let you know how it goes lol.
Wouldn’t it be better to wait for the Pro 8? That’s suppose to be coming this year. Do you not like the Book 2?

Nothing wrong with the SB2. Has a Pro 4 before and thought hey SB2 has a larger tablet screen which I used the pro 4 in most of the time being stupid not realizing the battery life on the SB2 tablet was only like 2hrs and missed the kickstand and sd card slot and ports on the tablet portion. As for waiting for the Pro 8 I'm coming from a base line 8th gen i5 surface book to a 10th gen and much better integrated graphics. I don't game or run any demanding software not worried about specs.

Sounds like the Pro 7 will be great for you in that instance. If you don’t really game or use demanding software, the Book seems over kill.

The kickstand on the Surface Pro is an awesome thing to have.

The Surface Go with 8 GB or RAM also has a faster type of SSD than the 4Gb version, as I recall from reviews in the past. So it is overall a better choice to "go" for the 8 Gb version.
Good point I forgot about the SSD. If I remember correctly the 8GB version also has a better processor as well.

I think the problem then becomes that once you start adding more ram and stuff, it increases the price to a point where the Pro 7 might be a better option for the money.

+1. Yes now I remember (it is a while ago), you are right. The 8Gb version was a faster machine overall, but was only slightly cheaper than a surface pro. Maybe now it can be had for a much lower price? If so it will make it a better deal.

Surface Book is the quiet hero of the bunch. The only Surface that ships with a beefy dGPU.
Probably because the Book is the do all of devices. It can be a laptop but also a detachable tablet. From what I’ve seen with the Book 3, it can handle games as well.

So I completely forgot about the fact the Surface Pros come with Windows 10 home instead of pro so had to spend the 99 dollars on that. Still not bad considering I got the Sp7 and type cover bundled together for 849.
