Snow Leopard 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍 I miss snow leopard so much…
The 2011 15" is on High Serra, with the original Snow Leopard being a favourite and somewhat ironic background.

Yes, that’s my biggest complaint beyond the meh cpu & gpu: MS pulling an Apple with lower end specs and high prices.

Also, a smaller display…🧐 If I didn’t buy this garbage HP display for the former job, I wouldn’t be too bothered by needing an external display too.
I doubt MS can go much more on the CPU/dGPU side as the Surface Laptop Studio is already 4lb (i7). I also imagine MS want's to keep the exhaust temps as low as is reasonably possible given the fans/heatsinks placement in the chassis. I suspect this is a factor of the hinge design and resultant unconventional cooling system.

Appreciate the heads up. Do you find the pen to be an intuitive way to move around Windows? I don't need to take notes nor do I draw, so maybe a regular laptop makes sense - especially since I already have my work iPad to watch movies on a plane, etc.

Regardless I think the Pro 8 is a nice piece of hardware, even if it doesn't fit my specific use case. It's still lighter than a similarly equipped 13" XPS, so maybe I shouldn't care so much if I never really use it as a tablet?
I don’t know. Sorry. I was thinking of artists for example.

we do have the Apple Pencil for our iPad which is fantastic, but I wouldn’t use it as a primary input device.

I am always surprised when people say solve a problem not being asked be it laptops or phones. Why anyone would think one format suits all is beyond me :)

That's why I said that perhaps not being a creative professional is making me blind to its merits. I've been wishy-washy about my next laptop *because* there are so many different great formats out there - I certainly think it's a good problem to have!

I loved what MS did with the Surface Book, which is why I'm a bit confused about the SLS. Perhaps they couldn't solve the technical problems they were having with the hinge, but I thought it was cool that you could pull the screen off the base and have lightweight tablet for drawing or note taking, yet together have a laptop with a discrete GPU - even in the 13" configuration.

CPU choice is debatable but everything else about the Surface Pro 8 which is similar to the Surface Pro X is top notch and the 8 is better than the 7+. Will very likely pick up a corporate demo Surface Pro 8 i5-1135G7/16GB/256GB (hopefully storage is user upgradable too) for ~$800 when they become available.
Like I did with the Pro 7+, I want to do the same here and get a corporate demo of the Pro 8 i7/16GB/256GB. Do you happen to know any of the US demo SKUs offhand yet? I keep in close contact with the sales agents at Colamco, Provantage, and CDW. I would be able to place a special order over the phone if I had a demo SKU handy. Feel free to PM too. Thanks!

Not yet but will update when I do.
Thanks. If this helps any, I am keeping an eye on Aztek Computers (among about a dozen more dealers and distributors!) that maintains their list of Microsoft demo unit SKUs wide open for all the world to see. I know Surface Pro 7+ used the codename Camano/Mano for the Wi-Fi and LTE which is reflected in its online corporate demo unit listings. I hear tell that Lucca/Morro is the codename for the Surface Pro 8 Wi-Fi and LTE models. So searching for the terms Lucca and Morro might uncover the corporate demo SKUs eventually.

Well, for myself, the only issue with removing the tablet for drawing was then you did not have access to the dedicated GPU. Programs such as Painter, and Rebelle use that to accelerate performance. As a result, I ended up turning the tablet around and attaching it to the base anyway. I am guessing that most others did the same thing.

Heh - that's exactly what I mean about not being a creative pro making me blind to its merits. Appreciate the education!

My Surface Studio Laptop is suppose to be here Tuesday (launch day) but it still has not shipped from MS. I assume they'll send it on Monday via overnight.

I ordered the i7 / 16 / 512 that comes with the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti

I still yearn for the original Studio but could never get it locally but sure like to have the SSL too but again likely to be next year before I see one so having a bit of fun with Razer products and I got Samsung 15" 360 pro just for travelling around Europe

If you receive it can you post a review on here please? I really like the look of it, however those of us in the U.K. cant order until “early 2022”

Anyone got shipping info for a new Surface? Ordered a SP8 and it’s supposedly going to be here tomorrow but I haven’t gotten anything from MS yet

Is MS like Apple and holds out til the last day to ship then overnight it or am I just not going to recieve it on launch day? They gave me my deposits back which kinda worries me but I haven’t been told anything‘s been canceled

Got mine today! Got a surprising email from BB saying it was available for pick up (mind you, just the SP8 device; still don’t have a keyboard). A day earlier, but I figured what the hell, it’s near work. Poor cashier kept getting a “manager override” every time she scanned it, but I kept my mouth shut. Manager came, “overrode” and wham, got it in my hands. I haven’t taken it out of the box cause I wanna try and swing by the store when it opens tomorrow and see if they have any keyboards in stock. I’m not too confident on my current preorder (Light blue keyboard/pen bundle) since it’s listed as out of stock.

Will post pics later!

What are the pros and cons of Windows Home vs. Windows Pro? I understand there is less tracking and forced updating with Pro. For ordinary non business use is Pro overkill or advisable? I guess I would have to buy Pro on its own as it does not come on units purchased by individuals?

BitLocker is a major difference, think all Surface devices come with W10 Pro.
