Apparently there will be a Microsoft event in the Spring, and there will be a Surface Book 3 update. Not sure how reliable/accurate this guy is

I was hoping for RTX. Would have been a nice upgrade.

Really wanted to see if they put in Ampere in the Oct event. But seems like they are going conservative.

He is pretty well connected. He and Paul Thurrott (long time Windows insider) do video casts together typically. I would believe Brad Sams over most others out there, personally.

Do Microsoft send out invites to events like Apple do? If so I wonder when this Spring event will take place.

I think they do to select members of the media.

My guess would be between March 19th and June 20th*

*sorry....couldn't help it.

:p

I kind of asked for that

I will be watching what they announce closely, I’m really looking forward to the Neo and Duo later this year, but I do need something that will play PC games, draw and write on the screen, watch Netflix and other streaming services.

I will see what they announce with Surface Book 3. it could be a great device.

Yeah, Brad Sams is legit. He's usually invited (along with Paul Thurrott) to cover the big Surface events. His book, Beneath a Surface, is a really good read for anyone interested in how the whole brand came to be and what it may look like in the future.

Sounds like he may have insider information. Seems like the Surface Book 3 will be a spec update rather than a redesign. Be interesting to see what happens tho.

Without scrolling through loads of pages, I'm wondering if anyone has owned both the Surface Pro 6 & 7? Looking into getting one and trying to decide if the extra cost of the 7 is worth it.

From what I can make out, the 6 seems to have better battery life?

I'm almost relieved to see the rumors that the SB3 will be a spec bump in the same form factor. It'll will definitely reduce my urge to upgrade (making my wife happy).

maybe they think why fix it if it isn’t broke? If the current form factor works why not keep it around for a while longer.

I’ve never owned a Surface Book so I don’t know how good they are. But what’s appealing is that it’s a laptop where the screen can be removed and used to watch movies, take notes on and draw.

As an IT consultant, my wife chose to use a Windows product, the first Surface Book. It was replaced by Microsoft in warranty SEVEN times, finally ending up with a Surface Book 2 replacement. This last has been bulletproof. It serves her need very well and is configured with max upgrades available at the time. The only complaint she has is the touchpad. After using Apple equipment, the Microsoft touchpad just doesn’t compare.

I'm glad the SB2 has been better. Mine has been 100% perfect since it came out of the box.

A couple tweaks to the trackpad settings help -- sensitivity to medium or low, turn on two-finger scroll and two finger tap to right click, and turn off lower-left corner click for right click. Helps make it a bit more Mac-like.

7 times  yikes! I’m considering a Surface Book at some point. However I do like the look of the Surface Neo and so I might just buy that when available instead. The Neo and Duo seem to be the future of Surface.

I did have an experiment with a Surface Pro 6, but I sold it. I kind of regret that now and think maybe the Surface Book would of been a better choice.

I have always wanted a Surface Tablet/Book with the surface pen. But having an iPad Air 3 with an Apple Pencil makes it a little difficult to justify the cost.

I just wish the Surface Pro 7 would allow for EGPUs.... then I'd probably switch over - use one for Starcraft II when I want to game at home then when I'm at work hook it up to dual monitors ...

Surface Book is in Apple pricing territory (yeehaw!). Costco has an 8GB ram, 256GB SSD Surface Book 2 for $1499. Crazy.

As a prolific OneNote and OneDrive user (we use Office 365 Business at work and I use Office at home) - I've always wanted to get a Microsoft laptop.

I'll be in the market for another $2k+ device in a few years I guess... till then.

Yup, Microsoft thinks a lot of their Surface Books but they do seem to be the top of the line for performance, which is our top consideration as a working device. I know the Studio is more powerful but hardly portable so a non-starter.

The feature that has my attention the most is the fact that the screen is detachable and is able to be used as a clipboard/tablet.

I’m imagining being able to use it as a laptop at my desk (possibly replacing my 2012 iMac that Apple hasn’t bothered to redesign in years), then when I want to draw, take notes or watch Netflix I can simply detach the screen and do so, even carrying it around the house from room to room.

or if I need the power to turn the screen around and use it to edit photos with the Surface Pen.

Back when I had a SP4, I found the tablet mode to be lacking, the iPad was better imo, for tablet usage.

Depends what you are doing in said "Tablet Mode" given the software limitation of Ipads compared to full programs available on W10 in some instances the Ipad is already lacking however I understand your point re herculean sized buttons on the Ipad do make navigation at times easier with apps opposed to full progs :)

I watch mostly content on Netflix and iTunes on my iPad Pro, I also draw and edit photos. I’m looking forward to seeing what Surface Neo and Surface Duo can do.
