The typing experience is excellent, and I think you will be happy with it. Good enough key travel and the keys are easy on your fingers. It is really impressive what they Microsoft does with their keyboards and Apple new $300 plus keyboard price make the Surface $160 look like a bargain. I am really thinking about that Samsung. As an artist I like the EMR Wacom tech. Ntrig is good, but Wacom is better. The 15 inch has 12 gigs of Ram and the same lovely color. 12 not as good as 16 but better than 8. The Surface Book I am picking up has everything to include more power and I can install my big dog Painter 2020 on it. The Samsung would be a lighter machine for the smaller Painter Essentials and couch sketching. Yes I am trying to rationalize getting both... I do have a problem... No support group for tech addicts like me.I was giving some serious thought to dropping my iPad and replacing with a surface Pro 7, but for long periods of typing I am just not sure the keyboard is great and of course, I can't get to a store anywhere to test it right now..
I have seen that Microsoft are giving 60 days in order to return the Book 3 for any reason if you are not happy. However that is on the US website, on the U.K website I can't find a single mention of this. Does anyone know if they do offer the same return window? it will be disappointing if not, why can't we get the same as the US.
From the UK store.
"16. Return Policy. This return policy is provided in addition to any legal guarantees or other statutory return rights that you may have under law (see Product Warranties section below). Subject to our return criteria, after purchasing an eligible product you may withdraw from the purchase contract and request a refund without giving a reason within thirty (30) calendar days. The withdrawal period will expire after thirty (30) calendar days from delivery."
To be sure, but 30 days is still a long time, and you should be able to determine if its a good fit in 30 days. That's disappointing as the US site is offering 60 days
The cost difference between a 12" iPad pro with keyboard and stylus is about 1,700, a Surface Pro 7 with stylus and keyboard is about 1,400 (generic configurations for both). That's a 300 dollar difference - not sure if that helps or hurts the decision process.I was giving some serious thought to dropping my iPad and replacing with a surface Pro 7
They still may offer this though, if you go and try order a SL3 in the UK store it shows 60 day return.
As for usage, if you need desktop-like apps, then the Surface products will be a better tool. If you don't need a full blown desktop OS, or experience, and the apps in the iOS app store fit your need, stick with that.
See this is the thing, the more I use Windows the more I am reaching for my iPad and then going "oh, can't use that for x task". Starting to appreciate why the Ipad without an OS to match the desktop is lacking where PC + Surface has a far better like for like environment that just works on each as it should.
Yes, I am more of a productivity person to include my desire to draw and paint on all my devices. I find the iPad to be the most frustrating of all my devices. Even Android is better. The file system on iPad simply drives me crazy. I can't draw in sketch in one app and then open it in another for painting as I can on everything else to include Linux, Windows, Android. I can't set up folders the way I want to be actually useful. OneDrive can make a folder available on the iPad, but then none of the apps can get to it! I get so frustrated... My iPad pro is just sitting most of the time.See this is the thing, the more I use Windows the more I am reaching for my iPad and then going "oh, can't use that for x task". Yes, absolutely it really should just be a standard on all except the "cheapo" line. For Apple to charge as much as they do... Actually it is my theory that Apple simply lacks the capacity to get the job done. Remember that MacOS which is Unix was actually lifted from a project at Berkeley in Sans Francesco and modified for the Mac. Apple didn't actually create it's own system. My view is that they are hoping someone else will create a Unix for touch and pen, and they can use that as a new Mac upgrade. You would think that with all the money they have hired some coders to get the job done, but I think they were too obsessed with trolling for dollars, and now they are far behind. Just my own idea on the subject.TBH outside of a specific IOS Application and mobile games Surface and other similar W10 2in1's are simply far more useful. IMO Apple follows it's diverged policy solely to force additional hardware/software sales, exactly the same as it does with it's mandatory in-house upgrades.
Job's statement at the time was simply down to Apple not being remotely in a position to bring Pen & Touch support to the Mac. Pen & Touch support is a great feature with smaller notebooks, even larger ones with well thought out design. Unfortunately Apple is has become far too focused on itself rather than customers needs, literally nickel & diming us at every opportunity with questionable quality at times...
Personally I wont entertain smaller class notebook's now without Pen & Touch, would simply be a retrograde step on many levels.

Hey guys, just read this and found it interesting. It's not Surface related but Windows 10 related.

The Apple MacBook Air 2020 is 30% brighter when you use Windows
During our tests with the new 2020 Apple MacBook Air, we noticed that the display is around 30% brighter when you use Windows. But how is that possible?www.notebookcheck.net
Interesting, but hardly surprising. If Apple could get away with it, they would not allow Windows on their machines at all. They have already cut the ability to install Linux in a easy, straightforward manner.Hey guys, just read this and found it interesting. It's not Surface related but Windows 10 related.

Once they transition to ARM that will be the casewould not allow Windows on their machines at all
I thought the "ARM" was just an extra, something like Microsoft is doing with Windows X. Do you think they will really go all in with ARM? That does not seem like a good idea. One of the selling points with Mac was that you could run Windows as well as MacOS. That was one of the requirement at my brother in law's architect firm. Revit the program of choice (not AutoCad) is what they used. Autodesk has made it clear that any users that had Mac had to bootcamp Windows.Once they transition to ARM that will be the case

I was going to wait for the GO 2 but it takes a few months to arrive here in KLIt looks intriguing but it is pricey, depending on the model, its easy to spend over a 1,000 to 1,600 vs about $838 for the Go (tablet/keyboard/stylus)
I was looking at the Go late last year but since we're all in lockdown here, the need for such a product as fell off my radar screen.
Here's a video from unbox therapy
Very cuteThis, is gorgeous...
