Does anyone actually use siri? lol

All the time. I'm no Apple apologist, but I've never understood the complaints. I use it to schedule reminders, send text messages (while driving), set a timer, look up info—store hours usually, getting directions, etc. I also do an occasional conversion (tablespoons to cups, type stuff.) I rarely have any problems with any of these functions. Maybe I'm not the typical user or just ridiculously lucky but the complaints about Siri I see on Macrumors are often exactly opposite my experience with it.

EDIT: Just recently discovered that Siri will also tell you calories in certain foods and will create a list for you if you ask. Two oddball things I stumbled across that come in useful at times.

Actually, it largely has been a failure. The iPhone 7 outsold the X in the first quarter of 2018.

Source?

Anyone who isn't seeing this with Apple blinders, realizes it wasn't the super cycle it was supposed to be.

You don’t build a supercycle with a device that is so expensive to make. Analysts were wrong. The iPhone X, as a top tier phone is a massive hit that captured over 1/3 of the whole smartphone market profits and prompted OEMs to rush out copycats, but the real supercycle will only happen when the X innovations will trickle down to a more affordable lineup. This will happen in September.

I wanted to use Siri, but my biggest hurdle is its voice recognition. If Siri fails to recognize my commands at first try, then it is "faster" for me to do what I wanted to do manually, vs trying to repeat the commands over and over. This problem defeats the point of the personal assistant to begin with. I really hope Apple can improve the voice recognition part, although I don't know how Apple can do that without too much data mining. Google has the upper hand since they have been transcribing tons of voicemails for a long time with Google Voice.

But... but... they only sold 60% of sales targets & as a result had to wind down production after only being on the market 4 months. Plus they had to reduce further orders for OLED screens from Samsung. By the time 2018 models arrive the iPhone X will have sold less units that the iPhone 6, 6s & 7 of both varieties. And the hot rumor is Apple is bringing out a literal cheaper LCD knockoff of the X to try to boost sales. BTW barely 15% brought the X outright, 85% of X's sold have been contract or credit, that's a lot of desperate Fomo's.

Apple is going to announce their quarterly earnings next week.

The haters have a little under a week to continue spouting their nonsense and their mistruths about now the iPhone is not selling and how Apple is doomed, because I can guarantee you - Apple is going to announce yet another quarter of improved year-on-year sales, higher average selling prices and greater revenue overall.

And when that happens, they best burrow deep. One underestimates Apple to their own detriment.

Siri is the anchor on Apple's neck, it appears. They have more than the performance/professional computers users to worry about.

Siri is such a sad joke, it will eventually be a drag on their earnings, and Siri will be given a pink slip, and Apple will be the only company without a talking 'assistant'. OUCH!

Oh, wait, does Blackberry have an 'assistant'?

The notch doesn't really bother a lot of people. Most people just kinda forget that the notch is up there.

Notch is like receding hairline in that you try hard to forget it's there by not looking at it.

Here are the areas that can improve sales on the next gen iPhone X.

#1 Siri
#2 Notch
#3 Camera autofocus speed, image quality and mono audio recording
#4 iOS
#5 Price
#6 Add low-latency high-fidelity 3.5mm jack for audiophiles
#7 Replace lightning port with universal usb-c
#8 Make corners less overly rounded (there is such a thing as too rounded or thin)

I've never been happy with Siri. You'd think that with a voice from a lady that lives in Georgia, she'd be able to understand folks from Georgia a little better.

Used Siri once on my iPad, and it was accident.

And man, by using some MacRumors users favourite sentence: this is too small of sample, only 1746 surveyed. Not big enough to represent anything.

Anyone that thinks you need more than 1,746 respondents doesn't understand surveys and determining confidence levels. For example, if you have a population of 100,000,000 iPhone X users and want a confidence level of 95% with with a confidence interval of 5%, you need to survey 384 people.

First post in years... I use Siri daily, but most days it has some issue accurately detecting what I have said (I don't consider myself to have a strong accent). Even the 'Hey Siri' feature on my iPhone X is hit & miss, unless I'm really close to my phone, and don't get my started on the responsiveness of the Apple Watch Series 2 to Siri commands...

I have trained myself to say, "Turn on the kettle" now instead of "Turn the kettle on", as Siri keeps thinking I'm saying "Turn the Catalan" #ffs

I've recently purchased an Echo Dot to see how it compares and boy is it a level above Siri on my iPhone, Watch, Apple TV Remote, or AirPods from an audio detection point of view.. Far-field mics FTW, and it only cost me £30! and plugs into my existing Hi-Fi. Unfortunately, I don't expect a low cost "Siri Pod" for us to put in every room of our houses from Apple in the future...

I just got on this thread…and funny thing is earnings were announced earlier…and guess what? Proof that the X has sold very well as the average price of sold phones is up over $100.

It’s funny how people have all these percentages about how bad the X does (they do this every time a new product comes out iPad, original touchid, apple watch, etc) but Apple doesn’t release numbers on phones sold so its all based on their own biased opinion and manufacuring rumors.

Most people hated touchid when it originally launched, the next iteration was 50% better than the original version and got better year after year. That is what happens with new tech and this should be expected. I get it not everyone likes to try out the newest tech because it's usually not perfect but that does not mean its bad.

Faceid is WAY better than I expected. It's really awesome and usually works without me even realizing what is happening. I wear reading glasses and sunglasses all time and it still works. My only complaint about faceid is that you cannot use it while laying down but I am almost positive this will be fixed in the next line up.

The notch was completely invisible in about 5 minutes and the home button was the same. I am actually SUPER happy without the home button and I was very skeptical about it being gone. Using it on my parents older models just seems so dated and clunky now. I would never go back and I’m sorry but those avoiding faceid you better start preparing yourself because the home button is being phased out. I bet this will be the last year it is available unless they come out with an SE for the older generation that wants it and does not care about their screen, faster processors, and battery.

I do miss my battery percentage and I hope they add that back this year. I would rather have the percentage than the battery icon.

I was also concerned with the screen size coming from a plus but surprisingly I didn’t even notice it (I do notice though when I go to the smaller screen size.)

This was the first phone I was really nervous about upgrading on (I upgrade every year) and was pleasantly surprised how much I loved it!
