Apple has really fallen down the tubes if people are expecting something as stupid as an "iWatch" to be a big seller.

iWatch Owner: "Hey look everyone! My watch shows me the weather and I can even check stock quotes!!!"

Everyone else: "Just use your phone, dummy."

I find it interesting that 10 years ago, it would probably have gone like this:

"Hey look, my phone can show me the internet and do email!"

"Just use a PC for that, dummy!"

Seriously, in order to innovate, such cynicism would have to be removed. A watch, if you actually think about it, can serve for a very rapid way for data presentation without the need to pull something out of your pocket, and without putting something on your face (google glass).

The fact is that you're having a very close-minded approach, and you aren't thinking about the advantages it may present, as you're still stuck with the modern day idea of a watch. You don't want to think about what it can do.

Don't hold your breath!

They iWatch may not arrive for years.

There has been talk about an Apple Television (not AppleTV) for years and it's yet to be seen.

I hope Apple does something quick before the stock drops back to 1980 levels. We are only seeing small incremental improvements to product this last year.

Its time for Apple to shake up the industry again.

Yeah, the current attitude seems generally consistent with the "why would I want that" feeling many people had prior the iPad before its launch.

And then of course that crowd went out to buy it at some point.

Many, many people are very bad at knowing what they want before they experience it. They draw too much of their opinion of what they've seen in the past, and less on their imagination of what is possible.

This honestly is the truth. I really do wonder if what Henry Ford is correct. "If I would had asked people what they wanted, they would had said faster horses."

Who said you're going to be texting on it? Once again, people like you are proving my point. You're assuming what its going to be, based on your preconceived notion of a "smart watch."

The iPhone was just gonna be a fancy iPod with a phone, right?

Just imagine, having a text and not having to pull the phone out your pocket, unlocking it, and checking it out.

Or being able to have weather, directions, time, news, email, and all that stuff, just by glancing at your wrist.

Or talking to your friends, wherever you are, where you can see each other's faces. Just imagine the possibilities.

I'd love to have a future where getting a lot of information isn't about pulling a device out of your pocket; but getting it as quick and instinctive as simply checking the time on a wrist watch. Haters will hate, and I'm glad they're not the CEOs of Apple as their close-mindedness can kill apple.

But I think a future of getting a very natural way of technology is what steve jobs was pushing for from the beginning; from the first apple computer right up to the ipad. This is just the next step in getting it natural. And sales numbers have proven that natural interaction with very powerful tools is what people want.

Reminds me of Knightrider! I want to have an app for it that enables me to go 'kitt I need you buddy!' and my car come screaming round the corner!

But for how long...

I frequently plan to buy products about which I:
  • know nothing about the price
  • know nothing about the looks
  • know nothing about the functionality
  • know nothing about the release date

This exactly.

Meaningless survey. That number drops to 0 actual purchases with the wrong price alone.

so, what we really learn from this survey is that these surveys are a bunch of crap.

...said every apple fanboy about every newly-launched apple product.

You act like this isn't the rationale of 80% of the people on here.

I will only be interested if it isn't too flashy, it needs to look like an ordinary watch at a glance. I can't wear something that looks like an iphone curved around my wrist. Even as an IT professional, I have my limits.

The iWatch will be a massive failure. Take that to the bank. Nobody wants such a stupid and useless product.

How is it possible to make such a statement not knowing what it does, how it will function, what it will look like, or what it will cost? At best, you can only state that you currently have no interest in it because you know nothing about it.

Any one else think that maybe, maybe this is a clever Apple marketing tool? I mean, maybe they did their research and found that no one really wants this device. Thus start circulating rumors to get people like Microsoft, Google, and Samsung to invest into developing one, have it come out and be another flop in their line? I sorta think that is what the Apple Branded TV is, a ploy to try and convince others to make something to compete with it, when they have no real intention of creating it themselves. Cause others to waste money and reputation.

Just a thought.

I know I have ZERO desire for this thing, I don't wear watches, and don't like them in general. Thus I can't see myself wearing it. But that's just me.

How will apple and others make this watch work for both men and women without making it too small? There is no way women will wear a big honkin watch and no way most men would want a tiny one. Will be interesting to see and I will purchase one immediately if its not too small.

For what it's worth, most of the women I know who wear watches wear big ones. Just because it's easier to see the time.

Yes but they didn't have a desktop computer in their pocket. I already have a phone in my pocket.

I wanted the ipad before it was released and I bought it the moment they had one in stock. I wanted the iphone the moment it was released and bought right after it dropped to $299. I wanted the macbook air ever since it was released and finally bought one after they switched to sandy bridge. This iwatch thing doesn't sound interesting at all. Not even a little bit.

The huge difference between a Mac, an iPhone, an iPod, an iPad and THIS is that a watch is fashion accessory more than other electronic devices are.

Sure some kids or hipsters like those minimalistic Nook watch, but for me and lots of people they are cheap and ugly as f$ck.

So an iWatch that looks just like a mate nano (like the iPad mini) with iOS 6 glossy stuff in it ?

NO THANKS
