Here's to hoping the iWatch is similar to this :D

I fully expect this to be the product releases and if not than I will boycott Apple products and sell my Apple stock immediately and then go buy an Android S4 or Note phablet (phone-tablet)!!!111eleventy

BTW My niece wears her iPod shuffle as a hair clip. Kids these days and their wacky styles!

Yeah, the current attitude seems generally consistent with the "why would I want that" feeling many people had prior the iPad before its launch.

And then of course that crowd went out to buy it at some point.

Many, many people are very bad at knowing what they want before they experience it. They draw too much of their opinion of what they've seen in the past, and less on their imagination of what is possible.

One of my favorite quotes

"If I’d asked people what they wanted, they would have said a faster horse." -Henry Ford

The iWatch will be a massive failure. Take that to the bank. Nobody wants such a stupid and useless product.

This iWatch will not even come close to the demand & market opportunity that the iPad ever had... report is bogussssssssss.

replace "iwatch" with "iPad" and than "iPad" with "iPhone" and this would be a typical MR post from a few months before the first ipad announcement

Apple has really fallen down the tubes if people are expecting something as stupid as an "iWatch" to be a big seller.

iWatch Owner: "Hey look everyone! My watch shows me the weather and I can even check stock quotes!!!"

Everyone else: "Just use your phone, dummy."

Biggest Piece of Junk product / rumor

Fuel bands just like Livestrong bracelets are a fad
no one wears watches unless you think it's 08 and your flashing bling

Flop just like the TMobile iPhone 5 launch...

Of course it will sell, the only difference this time is that other companies won't let them get a head start.

Just like Tablets, right? I remember the flood of tablets shown at CES 2010. Look how well that turned out. iPad didn't have a tough time making those tablets irrelevant.

They made tablets in 2010 based on what they THOUGHT Apple was going to do/should do with a tablet. And they're doing the exact same thing today in regards to a potential "smart watch."

People are looking at this trapped in the mindset of watches we know today. Replace the watch face with a little display, and put "smart" features into it. Instead of truly re envisioning the concept of a watch.

The idea of a watch is having an important piece of information (the time), strapped to your wrist easily accessible and glanceable. Well, if you rethink this idea with the capability to add software, you can play off that basic fundamental principle of easily accessible pieces of information, that can be glanced at by looking at your wrist. I don't even pretend to know what Apple might do, but these other companies who think that a smart watch should just be a little miniature computer that straps to your wrist, is completely missing the boat. Their minds are trapped in the conventional wisdom of today.

I recall being highly skeptical and even participated in the joking around about how the iPad is just an oversized iPod touch. Had no interest in it at all... that is, until I was in the store and used one. I bought one the next day. One of my favorite devices by far.

So far my feeling for this alleged iOS watch have been following the same trend. We shall see.

Well the iPad was just a giant sized iPod touch. The extra size, however, opened up many more uses. It also turned into a potential laptop replacement for some.

I'm just not seeing it with a watch. They might be able to pull off something incredible, but for now I think it's a niche product.

I gave up owning an entertainment system, desktop, laptop, tablet pc, and phone, and replaced it all with a MBP and an iPad mini.

I realized that I'm trying to minimize the presence of electronics in my life and maximize my non-digital life instead, and consolidating everything down to two devices does that incredibly well. This watch will have to be pretty amazing to either improve on that or make me want to add to the device load.

Or... I am just not the target demographic.

so its an e-wallet with SMS and Facetime.. ZzzZZzzZZz
who cares, its not private, part of the reason SMS works so well
please message your mistress while your out with your wife,
dick tracy style by using dictation SMS on your iWatch
Not Gonna Happen

I was REALLY excited for the iPad. I don't even care about the iWatch.

So the survey is wrong.

Cause your opinion rules all...

How do you know its stupid and useless? Have you seen it?

I'm looking forward to it, not because I need to tell time, but because I want a device that watches my vitals and reports it back to me in the aggregate. Heart rate, sleep patterns, calories burned, location etc. This has a huge potential to change not only physical fitness but medicine in general.

Who said you're going to be texting on it? Once again, people like you are proving my point. You're assuming what its going to be, based on your preconceived notion of a "smart watch."

The iPhone was just gonna be a fancy iPod with a phone, right?

Kids...

That's fair to be excited.
I've been excited for the incredible and amazing Apple TV experience that's been just over the horizon for 5 years and I'm still waiting.

You have it easy...
I'm still waiting for the iWalk.

Just what we need. Our health information going into the iCloud for Apples use.

Absolutely. Samsung is ready, and three months after Apple releases you'll get a Samsung watch that looks exactly the same.

----------

How will apple and others make this watch work for both men and women without making it too small? There is no way women will wear a big honkin watch and no way most men would want a tiny one. Will be interesting to see and I will purchase one immediately if its not too small.

What about two sizes :D

It's absurd that people are chiming in about their interest or lack thereof, in a product that doesn't exist. Speculation upon speculation.

Samsung may probably release it first, with a few gimmicks and try very hard to get people to like it. Then apple might come along, with a winning formula on what watches actually need, and it may sell millions. Then you see a new samsung watch that looks roughly the same, save for a few differences.

Then They might introduce a watch with a 5" screen. Then all of a sudden apple will be doomed, despite making huge profits.

Well, plenty of people said "why doesn't Apple just take the iPod touch as it is, and makes it really big? That would be quite useful. "
