how about some time?

I wonder if there is a grace period in regards to removing the offending artwork without penalty? Seems to me when you alert a company of an infringement like this (which just came out yesterday) a reasonable amount of time must be allowed for a correction.

What about not holding patents or copyrights on round objects with rectangular shapes, or was it rectangular shapes with round corners?

Change the design or pay for licensing. pretty easy solutions here

is anyone else unsure as to which way the red second hand is actually pointing? Do you go by the longer side with the round ball or the short side?

Remove the red dot from the end of the seconds hand, and then I think there's no problem... otherwise it looks like every clock face in existence.

Did the clock change?

Or did they just notice after 6 generations of iPhones?

Gary

This is a new icon for Apple's clock app, I noticed it immediately and although I thought it looked familiar I thought it was a big improvement of the previous icon.

I'm sure Apple will somehow manage to turn this in their favor. Steve's grandpa invented and patented it in 1925.

On the serious side: wtf? After the whole litigation crap, they pull this kind of stunt? That's simply ridiculous.

So, wait, will Apple be sued over the image of Big Ben in the new Map App too? They even showed it during the iPhone 5 announcement. Uh Oh!!

hah, this time Apple is doomed! ;))
On the serious side: did Apple really thought that nobody will find out this 'original' design? Really?

I bet it's more like "Didn't Apple realize the clock image was trademarked?". And the answer is obviously "No.".

So begins the list of iOS 6.0.1 features:

1. New, improved iPad clock icons - now matchs iPhone clock icon.

And a little apology letter and check to Swiss Railways... :)

I think this is a case of "if you play with fire you might get burned". Apple like to bring out the legal hammer as often as possible and I'm glad they're getting a taste of their own medicine in this case as it's absolutely justified. I like Apple but if they play this litigious game this is what'll happen.

Tim Cook's voicemail

Poor guy woke up to find out the maps app doesn't work and that they stole a clock face. Must be a Thursday.

Haha. Sure looks like a direct 'inspiration' to me.

Cue Apple and Samsung fans drawing ill-conceived correlations to the Apple/Samsung legal battles.

this is common once you become Big (in $$$) and monopoly -example Microsoft, Google and all the big software company

Trade mark, legal, financial issues are common once the company is big

wait till the employee sue Apple.

I think it might be payment first before it's changed, because devices with it will continue using it until a software update arrives, and are updated.
