I'm sure Apple will happily pay the $10 in damages. How could this possibly "hurt" them? I see that it is licensed, but I can't imagine this appearing on the iPad would impact them outside of them wanting the lic fees.

I do however believe this is an identical copy. I wonder how Apple gets their images. If an employee creates these, someone is gonna be fired for not doing their job and actually creating the icon and instead they copied.

Apple should mail them a check for $9.38.

When watching Apple's version, the second hand moves smoothly, without "ticking" like most clocks. Does this Swiss Railway clock operate the same way, with a smooth-moving second hand? That would be further evidence of an intentional copy. Bad Apple!

I think that clock design sux anyway. They should just say, "oh sorry, our bad" and redo it. IT'S FUGLY !!!

Apple's getting their just deserts. That's WAY MORE obviously a copy than the Samsung Galaxy S, much less all the more recent Samsung phones that look nothing like an iPhone. I mean that's detail-for-detail obviously stolen. The only thing missing is the logo, LOL.

I seriously hope Apple gets slapped BIG TIME for this one. Really, really, big. $1 billion dollars big.

I agree with the principle of what Apple said - copying is wrong. I agree the original Samsung Galaxy S interface was just TOO close and Apple should've got something (though not $1 billion) from Samsung for it. But NOT any other Samsung device. They're not that similar at all.

This is a perfect copy people, even the original SGS wasn't a perfect replica of the interface.

P.S. Upon closer inspection it's not a perfect replica. The minute ticks and the arc of the hour hand are a bit different. Still, SO CLOSE it's virtually indistinguishable. Even the original SGS interface was very obviously not an iPhone at first glace.

There's really no dispute here, but c'mon, a clock face? Are we going to start accusing Maxis of copying Sherwin-Williams' wallpaper because there's a similar shade of blue in the Sims?

Remove the red dot from the end of the seconds hand, and then I think there's no problem... otherwise it looks like every clock face in existence.

Well a clock is a clock, but the Swiss Railways iconic clock was designed by someone and they own the rights to that design. If the specifics do not matter why would Apple even bother to copy it, just make one without the red dot (which is what makes the Swiss Railways clock face iconic) and do something else to achieve a similar look, without the lawsuit.

Apple caught bang to rights on this one by the looks of things. Out of court settlement for an iPad in every carriage. :D

Sorry ...

The Swiss are wrong .. the Apple clock says 9:38 and the railroad clock says 12:40. Silly Swiss.

Oops, Apple. You could have least slightly changed something about it. Its a detailed copy of it.

LOL oops. Cash will be exchanging hands to sweep this under the rug..

Yes, it sounds like someone in Apple's legal department wasn't paying attention. The Swiss railway licenses it out, so it's just a matter of writing a check.

Did Apply really think that nobody would find out about this? Talk about willful infringement. Just shows you how hypocritical Apple really is.

Simple fix... just swap in the icon from the iPhone. It hasn't changed with iOS 6.
Pretty funny tho'.
