My patience is getting severely tested now. Bring on the 3G iPhone! I dear hope June 9th means shipping June 9th...

The more I follow up with the Macrumors.com the more June seems far away.

Do you guys think that AT&T is truly giving $200 discount with a 2 years contract for the 3G iphone?

Finally! A product that actually ships the day its announced! This is excellent news!

This also confirms to an extent the whole Video conferencing, GPS, Mobile TV report from yesterday, although I still believe Mobile TV is simply Video Capability, which is what it has now.

Ya, but the FCC....

Wouldnt we know about it if it was going to ship same day it was announced.

i hope this is true but it makes no sense because AT&T cancellation fee is $175. In other words, it's cheaper to buy through AT&T and then cancel it than buy it straight from Apple stores.

the new iPhone is going to be announce at WWDC.
Stop dreaming that will come prior o that.:p

few reasons:

•Apple and AT&T are getting rid of the old stock of iPhones.
•Steve Jobs loves the limelight and the media frenzy of his keynotes.
•WWDC will mark the first anniversary of the intro of the first iPhone.
•More time for mass production of the new iPhone.
•More time to develop the new iPhone software.

I look forward for 3G and GPS in 16gig at $399 and 32gig at $499

Perhaps this will happen with every new iPhone update. Apple will run out of iPhones about a month before a new one is introduced. I really doubt the new iPhone will be made available until Steve and his team does their song and dance routine in June.

People would be stupid to buy the old iPhone now anyways.

Fcc

Wouldn't a 3G iphone still have to go through the FCC before they sell it?
That would be another 3 months... like with the first one.

Like I've said, Apple is making sure that no one can use the 30 day return policy to upgrade to the new iPhone. Otherwise they would have tens of thousands of refurbs.

Well, if it is announced on the 9th, GeekSugar says it would be available online through Apple, so that may mean ATT wouldn't get it until the period mentioned in that vacation memo.

I don't think so because AT&T would need to be available to handle account issues. My guess is that the start of the AT&T policy is the day the new iPhone will be available for sale. Which points to a WWDC announcement with later availability and possible pre-orders.

So apple is going to let the channel run dry for Just about 30 Days!?

Thats insane for them to do this.. They are losing a ton of money in those 30 days I would assume.

It's not as insane as you might think. Think of the backlash from people who don't follow rumor sights (read, most people) and then go buy a 1st gen iphone only to be burned by a new model a few days or weeks later. I'd pissed too. Look what happened when Jobs announced the $200 price drop last September.

I'm guessing they don't want a repeat of that, plus the sales of the 3G model should more then outweigh the lost sales for the next 4 weeks, provided it's actually being released on June 9.

rumors

So many rumors about this 3G Iphone....I can not wait anymore ! I sold my 16GB Iphone 2 weeks ago to be ready to buy the 3G ....I am ready Apple !

The same people saying how "crazy" and "insane" apple is for letting the supply (start to) dry up early are probably the same ones that bitched about the $200.00 price cut. I know Apple is a business but it's not like when they release v2 in 400,000,000 new countries that the missing month of (slowing) sales will make a huge difference anyway.

June 27th.

P.S. You can still buy v1 at numerous locations (ATT) so it's not like there are none to be had.

Hurry Up.

I lost my iPhone on a Six Flags ride this weekend in Atl. And all I want to do is get a new one. All this 3g speculation is killing me. Ive been a Mac Rumors addict the past couple of days, hoping for some enlightenment.

I'll pay whatever...

All I can say is hold on to you iPhone, because there is no accountability on AT&T or Apple's part... If someone picks up your phone, and tries to activate it... AT&T proudly accepts the business, even though they know the IMEI is a duplicate... blah blah blah...

so HURRY UP 3G.

First of all, can anyone confirm the 30-day return policy (in US and other countries) bc I thought it was 14 days.

Also, so what if people return it? When new iPods come out, Apple doesn't eliminate supply so there won't be returns. In fact, they probably have an accounting expense exactly for this issue. I think the logic is faulty that they want to avoid returns...and more likely that we will see a launch prior to WWDC.

How many consumer products have been announced at WWDC?

That's why we have MacRumors and no DellRumors

Exactly. Who would read "DellRumors" anyway? Apple produces the best and deserves the following that it has had since its foundation.

Anyway, as someone currently living in Switzerland, I can only say that the selection of Swisscom SUCKS, since I use Sunrise here (which has excellent service and good plans)...

So, should I stay with Sunrise or should I go? That's the question... ;)

Some of those aren't separate countries, but I can't think of any place that we know of that's not on your list.

I agree that article is kind of arrogant. If Apple can exceed half of it's goal in 3 months, one month without sales isn't going to prevent them from reaching 10 million. Especially now that the phones will be available so many other places.

Long time then lol. Suppose you have to start somewhere!!!

One thing Apple is going to have to make sure of, and Im sure they have, is that the next iPhone is absolutely hardware perfect. Software not so much of a problem with the brilliant update process in place. If they dont do that, which they better well manage because iPhone 1 was so so so good, then its going to be a pretty massive bummer for them.

I see the launch of iPhone 2 more important than that of iPhone 1. Cant wait to read the reviews and so on so forth, then gonna try and get my hands on one if its good!! Im going to have to wait unfortunately with having to work on the farm for the summer :(. I can tell you for a fact that is one place where the iPhone is not very good. Dust and greasy hands with a touchscreen, think you get my drift...
