Switch from Verizon to TMobile iPhone 6

Congratulations on saving a nice chunk of change every month!

I chuckle whenever someone cracks some wise a$$ comments about T-Mobile. It's like they're afraid to be the only one left paying the outrageous Verizon charges. Verizon would like all to believe that they're the end all be all, and that strategy has obviously worked on many - I had to twist many arms to get my siblings to switch, believing that it'd be the end of the world if they dropped Verizon. They couldn't thank me often enough after they switched, saving them hundreds a month.

Yes, T-Mobile definitely has more spotty coverage than Verizon or ATT. Guess what, I'm not all that important that I require 100% coverage 100% of the time. And when there's good coverage which is everywhere I usually am, speeds and voice quality absolutely destroys Verizon and ATT.
And for plenty of others coverage is quite important and might not cut it in various places that they might be. Just like coverage isn't everything to some, saving a bit of money (at the cost of coverage that might be needed or desired) isn't everything to some others.

I called them again today to make sure my account was disconnected and they said $460, so I will call them when I get the bill, thanks!
Could certainly be charges for other things in addition to ETF there, like the plan/line cost for the month, etc.

It's definitely getting to the point where T-Mobile's coverage is "good enough" as evidenced by how AT&T and Verizon both just posted subscriber losses while T-Mobile added 1.1M subs. They might be forced to lower prices and/or offer better deals to their customers in the near future.

Not really unlimited. 2gb unlimited LTE, the rest you're on edge.

Wrong

I burned through 64 gb of lte last month. $80 pal just like the month before at 30gb and the month before blah blah blah.

I traveled to Europe, Asia and USA metros with my T-Mobile phone. It's never failed me. $80 a month. Att and vwz customers should step up.

Just made the switch today as well. Only been with VZ for a shortwhile, but I'm trying to make some changes to my budget and T-Mobile fits the bill price wise. Thankfully, I have a work iPhone w/ AT&T so in those areas where T-Mo may not be great I have my work iPhone to pick up the slack.

Having choices is great isn't it. But around me Verizon and ATT services are inferior to TMo. Why pay more for less?

At the end of the day, only you can decide what suits you best. Just be honest with yourself though - do you absolutely rely on 100% coverage 100% of the time (that is if you even get that with the big 2)? Those Facebook updates surely can wait a bit should you pass by the boonies with no coverage.

That's basically what it comes down to. Everyone's usage, priorities, and expectations can be and often are different.

Facebook updates might wait, but if you have zero coverage inside various buildings (including your home and that of various friends or various other places) that can certainly cut into it all, even with WiFi calling being a potential option in at least some of those situations.

I've been contract free since 2009. Currently i'm on Straight Talk with a Nexus 4 and NO regrets. $45 a month and everything is included and AT&T in my area is pretty good. Prior to 2009 I had Verizon and in my area they were hands down THE best. In 4 years on their network I had a total of 2-3 dropped calls and I always blamed it on the other person. :p

I think T mobile throttles you down if you exceed your plan. They also give you a 10 GB bank right off the bat when you sign up and you get to bank what you don't use. I'm not sure how long you get to keep it banked. I just signed up last week for the 5gb plan for 70 bucks per month with unlimited text and calling. I usually run 2 to 3gb per month. Really good deal from T Mobile. I wonder how long they can keep it up moving forward. BTW take the free Test Drive if you're not sure about coverage. They give you a 5 s for a week.

Told by T Mobile this morning that expect 6 to 8 weeks between submitting paperwork on ETF from your last bill and having the pre paid credit card in your hands. So, I wouldn't count on using that to pay off the ETF unless you are successful in making some arrangement with your former provider.

I think the ETF reimbursement is only if you buy a phone on TMobile plan.

I've been in T-Mobile since November and love it. I did the test drive to make sure the service was good and where I live it better than Verizon. When I call other T-Mobile users the phone calls are crystal clear much better quality than I had with Verizon.

My wife and two step kids switched over this weekend. Everyone is happy. If you live in a good service area it's the way to go. If you don't it is not worth it.

It's trade in old phone and buy a phone from t-mobile for t-mobile to pay off your ETF. It can be anyphone you turn in even a flip one.

I think that's the correct answer:

To take advantage of Carrier Freedom, a customer simply ports their number to T-Mobile's wildly popular Simple Choice plan, trades in their smartphone or tablet and buys one of our hot new smartphones. They'll get the trade-in value right away, and a prepaid card with the balance of additional outstanding phone payments after the trade-in value when they submit the carrier's bill to T-Mobile − up to $650 total per line on up to 10 total lines. Businesses with more than 10 lines also can also take advantage of Carrier Freedom, with bill credits up to $100 per line after the 10th line.

That depends on it being actual truth. Since nothing of that sort was actually mentioned or supported, seems like it's not really applicable.

My opinion is truth... Avoid t-mob it's a company in financial trouble. it will eventually be gobbled up by Sprint. And yes avoid sprint to.

T-Mobile is the only carrier that can get me LTE at my house. I HIGHLY recommend them any time I can. AT&T and Verizon have failed to get LTE in my area of Denver Colorado next to I-25 and the Boulder Turnpike.
