DISCLAIMER: I have T-Mobile One

So I got my Ring Doorbell last Friday before I went out of town. I must have been connected to wifi because I was able to connect to my Ring those days. I went to work Tuesday and noticed I couldnt connect to watch the live motion or answer the doorbell. I did some research and found that you have to edit the APN to ensure you can connect to the Ring device on TMobile's network. Then I found out that you can't edit/view the APN (access point name) on an iPhone 7 with TMobile. They pretty much told me to kick rocks and they dont guarantee 3rd party apps will work with their network. I learned that ANDROID devices let you edit the APN and connect to the Ring just fine. Why wont T-Mobile let me edit the iPhone??

I also updated my phone to iOS 10.2 monday night. I noticed my Tango app stopped working on data as well. I dont know if the update changed the settings or what. I reset network, rebooted, yada yada. Nothing has fixed the issue that those 2 apps only work on wifi (ring works to view recorded videos and still get push notifications, just cant view them as theyre happening)

TLDR: Can't use my Ring Doorbell to view detections over DATA. I have to wait until I can watch the recorded video a minute after the fact. TMobile doesnt let you edit the APN of the iPhone 7

What happens if you turn off Binge On, since that's probably what's throttling the video?

Did that just recently change?
Because Im on Tmobile and have been viewing my Ring stickup Cam live view and recorded video clips fine.
I been using ring since September on Tmobiles LTE carrier data.
I updated to 10.2 a few days ago. And just tested it out and I'm getting the same thing as you.
Cannot connect to live view on T-Mobile carrier data. Wtf happened?

The recent Carrier update broke my D-Link app to my security webcam, also. This happened once before with iOS 10 upgrade and the T-Mobile carrier update. T-Mobile released a new Carrier update a week later and fixed the issue. Everyone needs to call into T-Mobile and ask for a fix. I used the T-Mobile app to chat with a rep and they looked into and heard no reports for similar issues. So we gotta all let them know. The only temporary fix which does work is to downgrade.

I had no problems on iOS 10.1.x. after I upgraded to 10.2, I have not been able to connect outside of my home wifi to my Ring doorbell!

I have the same problem with carrier profile 27.1 . From 10.2 there is no fallback on ip4 and every ip4 goes thru DNS4 , NAT4 in a cloud. I lost couple of my favorite radio stations. I cannot ping their servers on T-mobile with 10.2, but I can with 10.1.1.
The simple temp. solution for now is to buy VPN and to use them . I have Private Internet Access, VPN4All and couple more and all of them work fine.

It must be a T-Mobile issue. I have no problem with Ring and AT&T.
At&t runs all the data through their servers , 3-4 locations in the country. I have no problem with internet radio I mentioned above on Att.

P.S. My friend lost his Russian Radio channel, here is the link:

http://live.borneo.ru:8888/rus128 , it works on Att, VZW, FIOS, Comcast, T-mobile iOS 10.1.1, but not on iOS 10.2 with "fastest LTE network", it say server cannot be reached.

This radio has nothing to do with Russian hackers :) LOL At least I hope so :)))))

P.S.2 My news channel I had problem with was just pulled off from TuneIn and I try to figure out how to get server ip for another radio I used before.

UPDATE: Glad to see I wasnt the only one. My Tango app also stopped working. Last night I downgraded back to 10.1.1 and everything works just fine. It's definitely the 10.2. TMobile couldn't help me the other night. I'll stick with 10.1.1 for now until the issue gets resolved

Can I still downgrade?

I also tried to contact "Fastest LTE Network", but they just "listen".

I try beta 10.2.1 on my 2nd phone now and let you know.

Damn it T-Mobile.
I'm downloading the 10.1.1 ipsw as we speak.
I do the same :)

For the last month with T-mobile:

- asked them to add 1 free line, they added 7!
- asked them to cancel 6 , they canceled, but charge me
- tried Digits, my name and email was stolen
- after that I had problem with volte call routing.
- now I cannot listen to my morning news after ios 10.2

But I was compensated with 1.55 off on Shell. Just bought new sneakers from Zappos, return them and buy again with 25 off. I don't eat in Subway, but it is never too late to start :)))

Mr. Legere should run more in central park and burn his energy there, to many new programs with poor implementation :)

Anyway life is more excited when you pay less :)

UPDATE: ios 10.2.1 beta doesn't fix the problem
Update2: downgraded to ios 10.1.1 and everything back to normal.

From a Ring CSR:

"Hey Dale,

Since the doorbell worked before the update it looks like this is a known issue with iOS App 3.6 Compatibility with iOS Version 10.2

There is no known workaround at the moment, except to switch to Wi-Fi. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and I understand your frustration. We are working as quickly as possible to resolve this issue with urgency.

Yes it is possible. It takes some steps, but its not hard to do. Check this link out:

http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-downgrade-ios-10.2-on-your-iphone-or-ipad/

My advice is DO NOT connect to wifi when setting the phone up after the downgrade. I tried to restore from an iCloud backup and it automatically updated back to 10.2 and i could not do anything to stop it. I had to start all over when it was done and just set up as new phone. I didnt want to risk restoring from backup WITHOUT wifi on. Maybe it wouldnt have updated itself then.

Does anyone know exactly what's happening with T mobile 's network? Is the update causing T mobile's network to block P2P connections? We have several IP camera's that we connect through P2P connections and none of them are working. These cameras are from various brands and use serval different IOS apps. I can connect to the cameras using a direct ip address through a firewall, but not by using P2P. Also, our VPNs do not seem to be working properly either over T mobiles network. We started seeing these problems just two days ago after the IOS update.

They don't block anything on purpose. It is poor ip4->ipv6 routing translation. ..... other words "slowcoocker" malfunction :)

I am in the same boat! I spend 3 days trouble shooting because I had switched my home network to eero and thought that was the problem. I can run a hotspot off my iPhone and connect to Ring devices via my laptop. This may have also effected Chrome Remote since I am no long able to connect to my computer remotely.

Well, Ring sent out an update on iOS (not sure if they did Android as well?), and the problem still isn't fixed. It just says "Activating Device" for me now?!?

So glad I didn't buy the ring yesterday! I mean I still plan on it but I would have had a horrible night cursing up a storm thinking I either did something wrong or had a product I had to take apart and return. I was going to go Home Depot and get that and one of the smart locks or keypad locks. Today there is ice everywhere so may just wait till the ring is fixed and I'll go get both on a day i have time to install them.

Same issue with me. I thought I was going crazy and it was a port forwarding issue or something on my router. Didn't realize updating to 10.2 would break my ring over cellular
