Okay, for the life of me, I cannot find any indication in the link the article provided that T-Mobile is offering the $200 rebate for anything other than the iPhone X. The only deal it's showing regarding other phones is a buy one get one (iPhone 8) free deal. Am I missing something?

Okay, I asked the article author about this, sounds like the article is probably correct:

I wondered this myself, but I went off T-Mobile's press release, which they emailed to us. Here's what they said: "First, starting February 23, 2018 and for a limited time, get $200 back via a Prepaid MasterCard PLUS the value of your trade-in phone when you purchase an iPhone X, 8, 8 Plus, 7 or 7 Plus."

I'm not sure why the website only focuses on the iPhone X, it makes it a bit difficult to corroborate the information. But I asked and that's what they told me.

I did confirm through other media sources that the above, and the article, are correct. HOWEVER, I also realized something that I hadn't noticed the MR article: you have to trade in your old "flagship" phone, it's not optional. Still a solid deal, I think, but I had previously been considering just forgoing the trade-in and selling my wife's Galaxy S7 on Craigslist for more than the trade-in value (roughly $58).

I'm not the individual to whom you originally replied, and I agree with you on the international coverage, but he was totally right otherwise. I just switched from ATT to T Mobile a few months ago...Love saving 90 bucks per months with unlimited everything, but T Mobile simply can't compete with ATT's coverage. Maybe where you live it's great, but where I live (Silicone Valley), places where I once had signal with ATT, I don't anymore with T Mobile. It's okay though, 95% of the time I'm good, and that's more than sufficient to justify the savings. Cheers.

I live in the southeast and travel up and down the region. T-Mobile coverage is virtually the same as AT&T. In the mountains T-Mobile coverage sucks but so does AT&T coverage. I noticed that in the Piedmont area of NC T-mobile coverage is not as good as AT&T, but there are other places where T-Mobile coverage beats that of AT&T. If one wants universal coverage in the US, Verizon is the only option. However, Verizon is overpriced and has horrible international coverage - outrageously expensive.

I travel to Canada often (both business and pleasure). You will not believe what you get with t-mobile in Canada. You get to use your smart phone as though you were a Canadian. You also get to choose which Canadian carrier you want to use. So, if coverage offered by one is not very good, you can switch to another one on the spot.

In the US I get better speeds on t-mobile than I did on AT&T. I don't live or work in downtown, so I have no experience with t-mobile coverage inside large concrete buildings, however in Toronto I was getting over 30 mbps deep inside concrete and stone buildings. I had amazing coverage in rural Quebec, where I surely didn't think there would be cellular coverage at all. All of this coverage in Canada is completely free for t-mobile subscribers.

Before I switched to t-mobile a year ago I was of the opinion that its coverage was awful. Just like I said, this notion is 10 years old.

I'm not even bringing up price benefits of t-mobile for US coverage.
