ATT poking fun at dropped calls? LOL

And tmobiles 4G is up to twice as fast as ATT's.

No. It is not. Their HSPA+ is 7.2 Mbps. AT&T's is 14.4 Mbps. Their LTE is about the same. Neither has LTE coverage worth a damn.

----------

Is it me or does this issue of dropped calls get exaggerated a lot? I never ever get dropped calls, ever. iPhone 5 on AT&T in NYC.

It's something that used to frustrate people many years ago and today is virtually a non-issue. The biggest issue today is data coverage and speed. LTE is fast no matter who is selling it, so all that matters is can you get it where you spend your time.

----------

Any time one company directly targets another it makes me wonder what the company on the receiving end is doing right.

The answer is, T-Mobile does a brilliant job via advertising of lauding people into thinking that, despite being the only major US carrier with 0 iPhones for sale, they are a significant player with lots of coverage and high speed.

In reality, compared to AT&T, they are none of that.

I have no love for either. But the facts are what they are... And the facts are: AT&T is
Better beyond comparison. The obvious exception is the idiot outside of AT&Ts known coverage who signs up for AT&T and then blogs about how bad it is for the rest of his life. You'll see these people from time to time.

What? Both of them have 4G as defined by 4G standards. How are they distorting the meaning?

"Rethink Possible" sounds like they're getting something that's possible and making it impossible. Wanna NOT pay for text messages that cost them next to nothing to transmit? It's possible, but we like to rethink possible :)

Do you happen to work for Verizon? That might explain your speed claims. But I actually want to try AT&T vs Verizon in Los Angeles. You realize it depends heavily on location, right?

50Gb.... per minute? Day? Week? Month? Either way, it'll be over your limit. If you mean per second, you should be ashamed of your lies.

----------

AT&T ad designer, here are a few tips:

- Don't mention a competitor's name unless your service is known to be better (not meaning that it necessarily IS better).

- The font sucks.

- Why not at least show off the iPhone instead of a random 'Droid? T-Mobile doesn't have the iPhone and laments the fact.

- Don't confuse the reader. What's the difference between a "dropped" call and a "failed" call?

My bad, I meant 50mbps.

I think 50gbps is very impossible right now. Sorry, my mistake

I came home today to find that the dead spot where I live is lit up with 3G. Speedtest came in at 6Mbps down and 2Mbps up, about the same as ATT LTE. What a relief since I use iphone5.

This is entertaining. I just left AT&T for VZ. I was with AT&T for 4 years and it was horrible.

That would be great until you realize AT&T imposes some rather draconian restrictions on LTE usage as part of their monthly plans. And AT&T service in several major cities are quite bad, especially the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City.

Meanwhile, T-Mobile USA's HSDPA+ service works quite well, and I've been getting 13-15 mbps download speeds with my Samsung Galaxy S III consistently and NOT subject to data cap restrictions, either.

T-Mobile's HSPA+is 42mbps while AT&T's is 21mbps so technically they are twice as fast. At least when it comes to HSPA+.

So AT&T was like “Yo, what’s good baby? I got all this bread & I’m willing to spend it on you if you be my b*tch.” Even though he’s slow & very shallow, T-Mobile was like, “Ok boo, let’s plan this wedding. But since you ballin’ & everything you gotta get me a crib, a new whip & a puppy.” T-Mobile knew these gifts couldn’t be taken back if things didn’t go well. So T-Mobile & AT&T planned their wedding, even though they knew their parents may not approve because AT&T is Jewish & T-Mobile’s Atheist.

Time goes by, they're about to get married, but their parents are like, “Get the hell outta here you’re not marrying a (Jew/Atheist),” they’re forced to break up. AT&T is upset they didn’t get their girl. T-Mobile is like “ooohhh, sorry boo. Thanks for the whip though.”

T-Mobile quickly meets another guy, Metro PCS, he’s an atheist too! He doesn’t have much money but he’s got personality & is goal oriented. T-Mobile falls in love. They decide they want to get married & oddly Metro PCS agrees to change his name to hers (you know she got an ego); but T-Mobile’s willing to let Metro PCS wear the pants in the relationship.

AT&T, jealous as all hell, starts talking crap about T-Mobile. “Ohhhh, whatever yo, that chick is slow. Forget her. Look at me I’m ballin’, she know she miss this!” Clearly upset because he realized T-Mobile was playing him from the start.

Don't know if its been said,
Still a better story than Twilight.

Interesting, nice to see Competition for a Change!

It is really nice to see T-Mobile trying something radically different where for the longest time it seemed like everyone was in collusion. I have no major issues with AT&T. But I have been trying out both an AT&T LTE iPad and T-Mobile's LTE service.

AT&T LTE Coverage is pretty terrible. It is available almost nowhere indoors (it seems) and when it is, it is very slow. I still think their 4G is more stable than Verizon's crap 3G. But I purchased my iPad 4 for the LTE and if I'm not getting that, I don't want to pay $1,000 for a device that I already own (iPad 2) if there really isn't an improvement in speed and I played a couple of games like Avengers and they seem to play worse on the 4 than the 2.

With that said I've also had T-Mobile for awhile and their LTE is pretty darn good between DC and New York. I tested on several drives up and down 95 and was hitting 15 - 20 throughout most of it and in my house in DC area and at work it's fairly stable.

My issue is the "Unlimited" scam. You have to pay a price for "tiered" service, if that's the case it is not "Unlimited" and once you hit the cap, the throttling is so bad and severe that it renders the phone practically useless until the next month.

I've never understood why people thinking paying outright for a phone is "better" than the contract. I mean if you have to pay $500 - $700 for a phone and still use the service, not sure what you "gain" by buying an unlocked phone. But like I said, I love that T-Mobile is trying to be different.

ATT is not "Better beyond comparison" as someone who has both ATT LTE is a lot worse (where I live) than T-Mobile's. ATTs 4G coverage is very good and solid.

Seriously, thank you.

Not in my area. T-Mobile is absolute trash. I got no service in my living room or office where I previously got 5 bars of 4G. I was constantly not receiving calls because I was not in cell reception. Their coverage of Upstate NY is an absolute joke.

Zoom all the way in on their data coverage map. Watch how much of it changes to yellow Edge coverage that is previously dark green 4G on a full zoom out.

I will never, ever, go back to that company. Not to mention, AT&T is the only carrier out of the 4 that provides great service in a nearby rural area that the other 3 admittedly removed from their maps.

-----

I can't stand when people knock certain carriers in general. You think just because AT&T service sucks where you are, it sucks everywhere? I constantly get great service where relatives' Verizon phones get weak signal.

A relative in Maine absolutely loves T-Mobile. That's fine. It sucks for me. That's the reality for everyone. Folks, don't knock something in general that you know nothing about.

I agree with you completely. But on the whole, AT&T as a company sucks harder than the rest in terms of value and customer service. Their childish acts like these don't help their cause, and it's why they are the last of major carriers.

You're thinking of 3G. Tmobiles 4G is 42Mbps.

AT&T is 21Mbps.

I should tell you the whole truth then; I use Straight Talk via AT&T. :) You're completely right on the childish antics though. While the coverage is fantastic here, the company is a joke everywhere.

If you stick with a post-paid plan on a major carrier, I agree, purchasing a phone outright is not a cost-savings since you receive no equipment discount. The only advantage is you are not tied to any contractural agreement and therefore you aren't subject to early termination fees.

However, if you are on an alternative pre-pay plan, the cost savings can be quite significant. Instead if paying just over $100/month (and that includes an affinity discount), I now pay only $30 with limited minutes and up to 5gb at 4G speeds with a T-Mobile prepaid account and I couldn't be happier.

There's no question I sacrificed minutes and because I live near the mountains in Los Angeles my coverage is spotty at home (ironically, AT&T is quite good in my area while VZW, Sprint, and T-Mobile have coverage issues). However, pretty much everywhere else I travel throughout Southern California, T-Mobile's coverage and data speeds are comparable to, if not exceeding, that of AT&T.

I am still using my iPhone 4, but if I do upgrade to the 5 or 5S in the fall, my monthly savings will more than pay for the full retail price of the phone.

Weak baiting.

Whoops, that was supposed to be a joke. I was denying that negative advertising is growing in use while negatively advertising against you… yeah, so a bad joke. Damn, somebody needs to create a widely accepted sarcasm font.

T-Mobile knows that there are a ton of perfectly functional iPhone 4's out there that are off contract and can be unlocked. They aren't really going for folks who pay the unsubsidized rate, they are going to go for the folks that buy their phone used and then want the cheap data plan. Really, that is play right now. Who cares if the download speed is super fast or just decent, it will be good enough for many people who just want to have a $50 per month bill instead of a $100 per month bill. If your phone and download speeds are mission critical, then get Verizon and pay the money. But for a lot of people, a cheaper plan is a better plan.

The next wave is the iPhone 4S's coming off contract. There are even more of those that will free up soon. I assume that all the two year old Androids are nearly useless, but eventually the Galaxy 3S will also be off contract. These phones are lasting and they can surf the internet and get App updates, so they really aren't becoming obsolete. AT&T is shiiiting itself right now. Verizon is laughing because its older phones are not compatible so they can't be converted by T-Mobile.

Yep

The government stepping in to stop the AT&T and T-Mobile merger is the best thing to happen to telecommunications since PacBell was broken up. When T-Mobile grows and become a bigger competition to AT&T, we're gong to actually see reasonable prices for voice and data. Go T-Mobile!
