Ryan Reynolds is an actor that doesn't care about you at all.
If you say so.

But Mint Mobile (the company he's a majority owner of and runs) is operated in a way where it doesn't leave you feeling icky. I've found them to be more open, honest, and transparent than AT&T and Verizon.

🤣

Anyone here want to see more relevant ads or know anyone who does? I don't.

<-- T-Mobile customer

+1. Their statement presupposes that we're okay with ads, and, given that we want more relevant ads.

Hey T-Mobile, how about not selling data about our internet usage to advertisers at all?

This makes me even happier Apple is implementing protection against this in the App store. I wish we were all defaulted to Opt Out on everything. Let us decide to opt in.
Problem (for them anyway) is that I don't think anyone would ever opt in for something like this. I'm okay with T-Mobile auto-opting in on this as long as there is a way to opt out. Unlike WhatsApp that just shoves policy down their users throats without any other options.

The uncarrier! Ha. No more. All kinds of dirty tricks like the other carriers
Always was. You think I'm going to believe a mass marketing campaign run by a large telecom company saying that they're somehow better than the rest? There's no free lunch.

T-Mobile is a discount carrier and always has been. You get it if it happens to work well in your area and don't care that it's spotty in other parts of the country that the more expensive ones cover better. And you get MetroPCS if you want the cheapest thing possible with "it sorta works" service.

Just read this in WSJ and thought it's completely ridiculous. Thankfully, it took me 30 seconds via the T-Mobile app to opt out.

I completely missed this one. Glad I saw this article. Went and opt-out for all family members. Getting harder to trust, with few exceptions, any company when it comes to data collection about me.

+1, thanks for the article MR! I logged in to my Verizon account and found 2 settings that enabled tracking.... not anymore!

The problem with any statement of people wanting "more relevant ads" is that it applies to existing ads they are already being forced to endure whereas any of these programs are never replacing an existing ad, they are increasing the total number of ads. If the question were phrased as, "do you want the same number of ads with limited relevance to you or those same ads plus some potentially more relevant ads," the answer would almost universally be, "we don't want any more ads!"

Was going to purchase an iPhone 12 with T-Mobile. They advertised "trade in your old iPhone and get a new one on us." Well, I put my information in to trade my XR into T-Mobile... Undamaged phone that has no issues... A trade in value of $137. Gee, what happened to covering the cost of the iPhone 12, T-Mobile? Pretty sure $137 won't cover the cost of a $750 phone.

Give it it a year or two... T-Mobile will become the new douche carrier like Verizon was with 3G and 4G. Verizon will no longer be king anymore once 5G and 5G+ roll out completely, and T-Mobile will go from "nicest carrier" to "douchiest."

We really need better cell phone carriers like other countries have. Other countries have better coverage, faster speeds, and for a much cheaper price.

Opt out link in article for AT&T goes only to att.com. Can MacRumors please fix this do I can opt out?

There is an “eligible devices” link in those offers that clearly states what the trade-in value of each phone is worth.

Maybe I don't completely understand this, but as a Tmobile user, I would like to know WHERE are these ads being shown? And WHERE is it getting my browsing information from? On random websites? On tmobiles own website? Since most websites are now encrypted with HTTPS, Tmobile shouldn't have any idea what you are browsing through your cell phone with the exception of a DNS lookup.

lol, I'm Tmobile Prepaid. So does that mean they're gonna allow the app to work for us. Because we're basically the black sheep customers. I just get message when I login "Sorry we're not ready for you yet. We're working on improving your app experience." But from Google research I found every prepaid customer experienced this. So I guess I automatically won't be targeted. yay me.
