Example biased question - Do you prefer random ads for products you may or may not be interested in, or ads targeted to your interests based on your web browsing and location history?

No mention of an option to not receive ads at all.
Bingo. The option is “Use my data to make ads more relevant to me.” Not “Turn ads off.”

I read that as you are getting ads. Would you rather get ads for something you might be interested in or ads for a product you have no interest in.

There is an “eligible devices” link in those offers that clearly states what the trade-in value of each phone is worth.

Yeah and the XR is covered for as a trade in for much more than $137.

The deal is: I trade in an eligible iPhone (which the XR is) and they cover the cost of the iPhone 12. Not: give me $137. I'll take my business to Verizon or AT&T who actually know what they're doing.

I was wondering why I had not seen an e-mail from T-Mobile and then I get the e-mail from T-Mobile just now:
If you prefer not to have your data used to increase advertising relevance, you can opt-out at any time.

Well, I am not.

Also, as I went into the App to opt back out of this, I noticed that my minor child was also opted IN. So apparently, they aren't as vigilant as they would have you believe on opting children out of the program.

Isn't data collection on children like that illegal, even in the US?

I just noticed this as well. I also wrote T-Mobile support and told them I was disappointed in the automatic opt in.
my hunch is that all carriers do this and maybe T-Mobile is being slightly more up front about it. Doesn’t make it better though.
