All gsm unlocked iphones (3g, 4, 4s, 5) will support T-Mobile's 3G except for the very first iphone.
Does this include the Verizon iPhone 5? Technically isn't it GSM?

Yes, Verizon's iPhone 5 will support the reframed 1900MHZ (3G) network. Won't be able to get LTE or talk and use the web at the same time on the network like you can do on a GSM iPhone.

I got mine today, just got by porting my number, restoring from my previous iPhone 4S and so far so good.
Also I notice that Cellular Data Network is still visible on mine running 6.1.2.

Ps: the name still shows 4S from my previous backup. I just realized.
My also showed 4S after the backup was restored. BTW your lucky to get the 6.1.2 .
I lived in Atlanta for a year (travel there once every other month too) and have never had an issue with T-Mobile. I've lived / traveled / stayed in Marietta, Roswell, Kennesaw, downtown Atlanta, Gwinnett and Decatur and always have an incredibly strong connection. I saw 3G on my old unlocked 4S in certain areas but I was using a Galaxy S2 most of the time I was there.
Test it out and see how you like it. The coverage and speeds crushed Sprint and a lot of times AT&T.
The only thing the carrier update hides is the tethering APN. This is how it works for everyone using T-Mobile.Thank you, I was so dumb and upgraded to 6.1.3, but amazing CDN is still showing. Do you know what's the reason? Was this supposed to be the firmware upgrade come inside the 6.1.3 upgrade?
Did anyone notice a "activation charge" on their bill yet? Saw it today on mine. Thought T-Mobile wasn't doing this anymore?
I called T-Mobile and they told me, I would have to go to the store to get the $35 credited back to my account.
I chatted with two reps about that, one said the $35 will get credited back after 2 billing cycles, another said 3 billing cycles.
Getting a straight answer doesn't seem possible right now.
I've got the same problem. Not too happy. Will go to the tmobile store today.

On there website it says they are waiving activation fees. Don't know if that is online only but I would still call.
Has anyone returned an iPhone 5 to T Mobile? Mine showed up today and its un-useable; like no service, one bar on 4G if i'm lucky. Their coverage map shows me in the "good" zone, haha. Anyways, I looked into returning the phone and I had a couple questions:
1) will i get the $50 back from the first month of the phone plan, and
2) will they hit me with a $50 restocking fee as mentioned as a possibility in their information about returns?
If I'm going to get dinged $100 bucks to return it, i may as well pay off the difference and just use it on my current AT&T account.

Ok guys so I just got back from the T-Mobile store. Before I went, I called customer service and they told me that they can only credit me for promotions over the phone and on tmobile.com and that I would have to go in store if I activated my new account there.
So I went in store and the lady told me that the credit should have been automatically applied to my account, but because I ported my number from sprint, it was not applied. She explained that the credit was not being applied to new accounts with ported in numbers because of a glitch in the system. Anyways, she credited my account of 40.something (35 + tax). It was annoying to have to go in, but I got it fixed.![]()
She also mentioned that ALL of the new plans have NO activation fees and this does NOT vary whether you activate online, phone, or in-store. It's just that in store activations have a separate way of doing things and thats why I had to come in.
I was at the Apple Store near my house first thing this morning and was disappointed. The Apple Store employees had no idea about the band change and had no stock of pure unlocked phones (I was doing an exchange of the old unlock for new unlock). As I have T-Mobile, I didn't care if I had to get one on the network and unlock later, but they didn't have any 32gb in stock. Not just that, but these buffoons had no idea that the unlocked iPhone and T-mobile iPhone were one and the same and had different cellular bands than the older model.I called another Apple Store that's close to work and swung by there. Best guys ever! I walked in, explained that I wanted to exchange for an iPhone with the 1700 AWS band and he hopped to it. When he tried to do the exchange, it wouldn't work (because they dont allow exchanges to "in-network" phones). However, he said "screw it", refunded my purchase to a gift card, and bought the T-Mobile 32gb with it. As the T-Mobile version doesn't come with the SIM tool and mine did, he let me keep it. Day started of crappy but ended up good![]()
I don't want to start a new thread for this. Does anyone know if corporate discounts apply to the new plans?
