How much are the prices for T-Mobile iPhone 5? I guess I can always visit the site for unlocked prices.

----------

What exactly is the difference between a regular unlocked iPhone and a T-Mobile iPhone? Aren't they both unlocked? I don't get it.

The prices are the same as the regular unlocked iPhone 5. The T-Mobile unlocked iPhone 5 comes with an unactivated sim and will have AWS enabled. The regular unlocked iPhone 5 isn't guaranteed to have the AWS band enabled. Once current supply runs out, the only difference will be the T-Mobile version will have a unactivated SIM pre-installed.

Hey, thanks. It's much clearer to me now.

Same here. I believe 15% is the max discount that T-Mobile gives any company.

Same goes for the student discount they honor.

Is anyone's T-Mobile iPhone rattling (power and volume buttons)? I might just schedule a genius appointment to have it replaced.

1) your monthly bill will be pro rated to the number of days u were with tmobile as an active customer

2) yes. You will probably have to pay the restocking fee unless you get a very nice representative who will let you go. However you may be able to fight this because you do not get service despite what the coverage map says.

I called to return the phone yesterday evening and TMobile was great about it. It should end up only costing me several dollars for the pro-rated days the account was active. The lady i talked to said they never charge the restocking fee. I just have to call them back in a week, after they get the return and process it, to close the number/account.

Purchases the iPhone outright at 579, leave the store and noticed the home button was angled. Had them to do an exchange because it would drive me crazy.

when you got your iPhone replaced on the Genius Bar Work Authorization form can you please share what "Item Number" your iPhone was listed as? just doing some homework and have interest in figuring out what number represents which iPhone...I got two AT&T iPhone 5 replacement sheets from some friends and one is 661-6847 and 661-6846....I dont know now which of the two iPhones was unlocked and which was still locked...trying to see if I get my iPhone replaced, what are the odds ill get the T-Mobile one...apple determines the difference based on those numbers...

Anyone else thats gotten a T-Mobile iPhone replaced please feel free to share the "Item Number" on your work authorization sheet you got from the genius bar. thanks

In the store today they told me no activation fee. Just $10 for a SIM card.

Sounds like you're on prepaid. Postpaid accounts do not get charged anything for a SIM card but prepaid accounts get charged the $10 for the starter pack.

----------

I went in on Saturday to buy one at full retail to use on my current line. Was told I had to purchase it with either a $60 or higher prepaid plan or a new line of postpaid service.

This was per the district manager's instructions here in the Orlando market.

The new Uncarrier postpaids do get charged a $10 fee. They call it a 'sim activation fee'. It is the replacement for the old $35 activation fees and you pay it upfront instead of on your first bill.

My new T-Mo iPhone 5's rattle too -- when you shake the phone in a quiet room, you can hear it. Not a big deal, but is this happening to anyone else's? When I first noticed it, I searched around quite a bit and seems to be fairly common dating back to when the phone was introduced. Two of my friends have one, and they rattle (though less than mine does). I've been meaning to stop by an Apple Store and see if the display ones rattle too. It doesn't bother me too much but I just don't want any of the buttons to conk out on me someday, especially after Apple Care runs out...

---- Edit ----

Let me know if you decide to see if they'll replace it though, and if your replacement rattles. Might do that too if it works out for you as a precaution.

This is exactly what I was told. I think there's still a lot of misinformation floating around out there at various T-Mobile stores. I wonder if all these people are going to corporate stores or authorized retailers. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference, and a lot of people don't event realize there is a difference.

Curious: Why buy the prepaid cut-down to nano-size sim from Amazon instead of just buying the correct size from the T-Mo's Prepaid site, here:
http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/phone-sim-card

Your Amazon cut-down sim was cheaper than at T-Mo site, but was wondering if there are other important reasons that I'm missing?

...Prior to purchasing the iPhone [5] I had bought a prepaid sim off of Amazon that was custom cut, see link below. The sim fit snuggly in the tray but I had no problems inserting it into my iPhone. Signing up and activating was a breeze until hitting the payment page. For some reason I kept receiving an error "Payment schedule not selected". Apparently other people have had this problem too so the quick remedy is to purchase a refill card and use that. Sure enough the refill card worked fine and my account was active. ...

I had a bad experience when I went to the Tmobile store to buy my iphones. I told the sales girl that I wanted to buy 2 iphones and 2 non feature phones and a family plan.

I had built the order online many times so I knew exactly how much I was supposed to pay monthly. The sales girl quoted me more than $50 higher than the plan I built online. I told her exactly what I wanted and she wouldn't budge. She said it would be $228 monthly and I told her online I did it for $171 monthly.

She had done the credit check and everything and was ready to finalize the order but I told her to cancel everything and walked out. It's almost as if she were on commission sales and was only interested in ringing up the sale rather than taking a Verizon customer and bringing them over to TMO. I went home placed the order online and got the plan I wanted with monthly charges of $171 which included phone subsidy charges for all 4 phones.

In 24 months my monthly fees before taxes and surcharges should drop to $121. Considering I was paying about $210 monthly at Verizon I will make out like a bandit in 24 months.
