Quick random question guys. If the Tmo phone is actually unlocked/contract free, does that mean it should work right out of the box without a sim? Or do I need to throw my old Tmo sim into it to get it to work? My old Tmo plan doesn't have any data plan on it either.
 
Tmobile isn't some small company either.. Can't believe this would happen to them.. They better give us an apology gift.

Phones purchased from T-Mobile are not unlocked.

You need a sim card for service so once you receive it you can log into your account online and change your sim card number to the one that came with the iPhone or call customer service and have them do it for you.

If you don't have a data plan then you won't have any data on this iPhone either unless you're on Wifi.

This seems to always be the story with T-Mobile and anytime a big product launches. Perhaps Uncarrier 8 should focus on updating their archaic systems.
 
I just called the number and talked to someone who told me they're unable to place the pre order through the phone right now but the website just went live and there are a lot of people pre ordering right now so I should check the website again in a little while...

10 to 13 minutes hold has turned into 19 now..

this company is so ****ing terrible. They are lucky I love my unlimited data, but this is so embarrassing. I hope their ass gets called out by media people

as I type this. It seems to be a bit of a "crap" show, you hear people in the background.

shipping UPS ground for $6.99, which she's going to credit back to the account because their site sucks so bad. It ships from Texas, I'm trying to get it upgraded for free now.

This was kind of a huge turn off. I liked T Mobile when I was in Europe because I got to keep my number and data was OK but this just sucks, they should link their system with Apple to alleviate some of the burden if they can't handle it.

I am also extremely cranky now and I know it's not this lady's fault.

edit: now done, a 1/2 hr phone call. They can't upgrade shipping but will refund the $6.99 for ground shipping. She said it can't be upgraded because they all ship the same day, so I'm hoping they ship before the 19th and are scheduled to get here then (or earlier would be cool).
 
I just want to order online so I can make sure it ships expedited and my EIP options are right....
 
This Preorder is pretty embarrassing for T-Mobile. I think they're the only carrier who doesn't even have it up online yet. 3 and a half hours later.
