Looks like this is going to be the first time for me upgrading directly with T-Mobile because Go5G Next 55 is not a valid plan to get the $1000 credit for trade in when doing it directly with Apple. I do prefer doing it directly with Apple but for some weird reason any plan different from Go5G Plus or Go5G Next is not valid over Apple.

So it seems like as a simple choice plan member I wont be able to upgrade through apple via trade in.

Does anyone know how trading in with Tmobile will work for people on grandfathered plans? Like for example what would they offer for a 512gb 15 pro?

I'm on the new Go Next plan with 50% of my device paid off (apparently they cover the remaining balance and allow you to upgrade yearly). Hoping this pre-order goes smoothly...

So, I messaged T-Mobile Help on Twitter to see if I can get some clarification on the trade-in offers for older Grandfather accounts. They told me that the max amount they would give me for either my 15 plus, or 12 pro phones is $300. I am looking to upgrade two phones, and well the 15 Plus, Apple is giving more of a trade in value. The 12 Pro, I might upgrade through T-Mobile since they seem to be giving a higher credit for older phones.

Hope this helps anyone.

One downsided to this is your IPhone will be locked to T-Mobile since you are directly buying from T-Mobile. If you go thru Apple, then the Iphone is unlocked even on the carrier deals.

Since I'm on Go5G Next, I'm going to dip my toes in and get my first truly giant phone. Moving from 15 Pro to 16 Pro Max, Desert Titanium 256GB. Have my pre-order stuff all set up for tomorrow. I've generally preferred smaller phones, but as the smaller phones also require some gymnastics in some cases to reach all areas, I figure it really doesn't matter all that much anyway any more, and I'd rather have the bigger battery and larger display. Hope I don't regret it, but after holding the 15 Pro Max and the Galaxy S24 ultra, I think I'll be good to go.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat and just chatted with an agent who confirmed that when you upgrade on Go5G Next they cancel your current installation plan entirely and then give you the full promotion.

I went big with the 6S+ and I’ve never gone back!

Hmm...I was able to get my pre-order set up today through Apple and it is giving me the full credit. I'm on Go5G Next Military, so I would imagine any other discounted version of the Next plan should work. Have you tried recently? (Monday they couldn't do anything, but today it looks like it's all set up correctly).

I did change my T-Mobile plan from Go5G Next 55 to Go5G Next and I did the pre order over Apple already. I ended paying the same for 3 lines because I got the third line free which was not possible with Go5G Next 55 because it is a discounted plan already.

I switched from the Go5G Plus to the Go5G Next plan a few days ago, and was told by a T-mobile rep that I'd be able to trade the iPhone 15 Pro phones from my 2 phone lines in, and get the $1,000 off on each line. But today, I didn't "Get Ready" via the Apple Store app, and got the exact same deal, just $44 for taxes. This seems to be too good to be true lol

How did you get a third line for free?

Want to do the same. I guess what bothers me is that it’ll be a $100 loss (correct me if I’m mistaken) per year each upgrade since you only get $1000 credit and owe the difference of $200 for the pro max

So how does the trade-in work for Tmobile and these "Go5G Next/Go5G Plus" (for the 55 versions) plans? We just send them in, or drop them off at a Tmobile store after the new phone arrives? Asking because I've also never upgraded through TMobile before...

Also - I just tried to sign in on TMobile's website and got an error :( Bodes well for tomorrow morning...

Have a few questions regarding trading in my 14 Pro Max via T-mobile vs. Apple, I'm on Go5G Plus.

T-mobile:
Trade-in offers me $830 (part instant, part bill credits over 24 months)
Phone locked to T-mobile
30 days to trade in phone

As I understand it, I can get this same deal on the Apple site and the phone will be unlocked but I only have 14 days to send in my trade in?

I am leaning towards buying the phone via T-mobile because I need the 30 days to trade in my current phone. I am overseas and won't be in the US for a bit. I am having someone bring the phone to me and then bring my current phone back to the US. If I do this via T-mobile, what are their rules on unlocking? Do I pay off the phone to allow unlocking and they continue with my bill credits?

Thanks!

8:02am, smooth as silk. Always have my phone and iPad side by side and every year takes about 2 minutes for one of them to let me in. That’s normal
