I was told with JUMP on demand you can't pay off your phone early. So I'm staying on the older JUMP. I tend to pay them off and sell them or people buy them and I use the funds to pay the device off for the sale. I have to put more down upfront but I've never traded a device in and don't intend to.
You got bad intel. You can absolutely pay it off early on JoD. You make whatever monthly payments are left plus the final balloon payment and you own it. Clearly stated in the Agreement.

Are you sure thats accurate? T&C from TMO's site for the 6s promo states:
"Limited time offer; subject to change. For well-qualified buyers. Eligible paid-off smartphone trade-in, lease, $15 SIM starter kit, & qual'g service req'd. $20+taxes/mo ($24+taxes/mo for 6s Plus) for 18-mo lease after monthly bill credits. Must remain on qual'g service in good standing for duration of Lease term. If you cancel wireless service, remaining payments (of up to $$27/$31/mo) become due. Must return device in good condition or exercise purchase option at lease end. You are responsible for insurance/repairs; insurance recommended (required for CT customers). Not avail. with Contract Freedom (device pay-off) or other trade-in offers. No device security deposit req'd. Late/non-payment fees may apply. For upgrade, you must trade-in eligible device in good condition at participating T-Mobile store & upgrade to eligible device on lease; up to 3 times per 12 mos. Participating stores only."
I'm 100% sure. I've sold a few of these iPhone 6S preorders as well as done one myself for my own account and already got the credits

Ordered a Rose Gold 6S 64gb on 9/18 thru JOD! and was charged this morning. Though my order status has not changed from "being processed"

I'm going to try to help clarify some things here, since new people are still jumping in on this thread, and it's already getting unwieldy at 150+ pages looking for answers:

Your monthly lease agreement will not show any discounts or credits. They are always applied at the billing stage. If you got in at the 'Amped' JUMP! on Demand (AJOD) promotion of $15/19 per month for the 6/6 Plus prior to Labor Day (9/8/2015), you will stay at the $15/19 per month when you JUMP! to the 6s/6s Plus. If you got in at the JUMP! on Demand (JOD) promotion of $20/24 per month after Labor Day (9/8/2015), you will stay at the $20/24 per month. Reasons for the pricing in the 'device agreement' will be explained further below.

Partially correct. While preordering only on Saturday or Sunday, if you happened to request to get a higher memory variant, they would've given it to you for no money down, no increase on your monthly bill, and no increase on your payoff. While I was on hold with T-Mobile for 35 minutes on the night of the preorder, I found this out by stumbling upon this HowardForums thread that started blowing up right before the launch.

Notice how I said 'monthly bill' and not 'monthly lease agreement,' as your monthly lease agreement will obviously increase, but you will be credited a higher monthly amount to offset the difference. That is why you will notice a higher monthly amount in your lease agreement, but again, it will be credited accordingly in order to bring it back to the original $15/19 or $20/24 per month promotional lease.

If you paid for a memory upgrade during your preorder on Saturday or Sunday, it's a done deal and they won't refund you the amount. If the preorder was done after Sunday, it's even more of a done deal, so don't even bother. You could try reaching out to them, but chances are slim, as the whole 'free memory upgrade variant' was an anomaly in the first place.

It's been confirmed multiple times with T-Force (@TMobileHelp on Twitter) and managers at their Solutions Center that the 'magic math' is done for two simple reasons:

1. Apple is very 'particular' of the way their products are marketed and sold. I don't believe any Apple authorized retailer is allowed to directly discount the price of the phone. They can only offer indirect credits, rebates, bonus gift cards, incentives, and the like. If you notice, Samsung and other Android manufacturers, they sometimes have major price drops, and while it's nice to get a discount, it also makes them look bad, as if they're unable to sell it at their original asking price. Apple won't have it that way. So while these numbers look initially strange and unnerving to the customers, it's because it will be resolved at the time of billing when and where the promotional credits and discounts will be applied.

2. More importantly, in the event of terminating your wireless service with T-Mobile, you will lose any further monthly credits and you will be billed at the original lease agreement pricing. For instance, if you were getting the AJOD $15/19 per month pricing, then exercise their new "Lifetime Coverage Guarantee," you will then be billed going forward at $36/42 per month as stated on your lease agreement. This is the part where they CYA themselves because you can't expect them to give you a $180+ discount on a brand-new, unlocked flagship iPhone, just so you can take it to another carrier after a month.

So, as long as I stay with T-Mobile, at least for the duration of the lease:

  • each of my three 128GB iPhone 6s Plus'es are $0 down, $19x18 months, and $228 payoff, totaling $570, and
  • both of my two 128GB iPhone 6s' are $0 down, $15x18 months, and $200 payoff, totaling $470,
both resulting in an immediate savings of $1000 in down deposits for the memory upgrade, or an individual discount of $370 per device.

My conversation with T-Force:

Their response:

Lifetime Coverage Guarantee Source: http://newsroom.t-mobile.com/news/company-news/lifetime-coverage-guarantee.htm
Quote: "Customers who cancel service and remain on a T-Mobile financing program will lose any promotional pricing credits and return to standard JUMP! On Demand pricing for their phones."

AJOD will have a higher monthly credit, but regardless will have the same payoff at the end. It was initially stated that the standard JOD payoffs for an iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were $164 and $192. However, my lease agreement shows the payoff for an iPhone 6s at $200, and the payoff for an iPhone 6s Plus at $228, both a $36 increase, likely due to taxes.

Hope this helps.

That is helpful... I checked out my bill this morning and it says my Pay off is $210 for my 64gb 6s Plus. I'm still saving $126 in credit though if I pay off the phone as far as I can tell... or am I wrong? You just mean that the monthly is cheaper on the AMPED credit but you get billed that back on the back end if you choose to keep the device.

So AMPED JOD is a better incentive to keep jumping and leasing (since the payoff is where all the money is really due) and regular JOD is a better incentive to pay off and keep since you get $126 off and you've paid more than 70% by the time the 18 months is up (In my case $100 down + (23/mo X18) = $514 + $210 Payoff = $724 of the $849 retail cost).

Does that sound right?

But you lose the monthly discount if you have a promo. I'd have to pay back 12/month extra if i paid it off. And that is going back to the beginning of the lease. so yes you can pay it off early at FULL price 649, 749 etc...

You only get credits when you continue the lease. Paying it off ends the lease which new the payments. In order to get he full $126 discount you have to pay monthly. T-mobile used to give the discount upfront like they did with tablets but people abused the system so they are now making you wait it out if you want the full discount. In case your wondering how it abused, people from other carriers signed up got the discount then canceled service. Some even signed up and transfered to another carrier getting discounts from both and instead it hurt t-mobile so now they are using this like a contact. Now You just loose out on your discount if you leave or pay it off early.

Wow, I'm trading in my 6 Plus and signing up for JUMP On Demand today (Because trade in value for my 6 Plus is $350, which will pay off my EIP), and will get a 64 GB Grey 6s. Even with the down payment, I am paying per month for the 6s than I would be paying off my 6 Plus.

6 Plus EIP for 12 months: $31.25
64 GB 6s for 12 months: $100 down + $19 a month= $27.33
Does this sound right to anyone who ordered a 6s with JOD?

I got an iPhone 6S 64gb using JOD. New customer.

I am putting $0 down but my down payment I think is being used in the monthly payment, so I am paying about $34/month.

Finally got some kind of update. The explore page still says expected to ship by 9/24 and I can't find the tracking number using the reference number or my choice but hopefully I'll get more as the day goes on. It's a RG 6s 16gb ordered 9/12 at 6 pm.

Yeah I noticed that. I didn't know they used to offer any sort of up front discount though, thought that was starting with this deal. My iPhone 6 from around this time last year only go like $2 off of retail... if that.

Thanks for your help!

Hey everyone, I have a question. Has anyone from California received their tracking number? I ordered two phones at 12:37 AM, but my orders were messed up and then later corrected by ETR on Sunday night. I was charged on Sunday for my shipping fee only because that's all I would be charged. I've been waiting to receive a tracking number, but nothing shows up. I've tried the track by reference as well, but nothing. I switched from Jump! to JOD, if that helps & I preordered two iPhone 6S Plus with 64 GB in the colors of Gold & Space Grey! Thanks everyone!
Yes. I did.

There is a different order tracking screen outside of your my.tmobile.com page that gives you your tracking number. Up until Sunday your order number didn't work and it said that it has to be all numbers. Checked it today and I found my tracking.

You will need your order number... mine started with an "S"

Ok I have a question. I went to 2 t-mobile stores and they gave me 2 different answers so I dont know who's right.

I signed up for Jump on Demand back in July and got a iPhone 6 for $15/month and 2 weeks ago..just out of sheer curiosity and in hindsight stupidity I traded it in for a Galaxy S6 (I know..I know) which im now regretting. I was told by one t-mobile rep if I use another jump to get the 6s I cant get the $15 deal anymore and I will be paying $24/month but another rep told me there is a promotion on the 6s where it will only be $20/month using JoD. Does anyone know the real deal? I just want to know outright how much a month I'd be paying if I jump up from my Galaxy to the iPhone.
There's no Jump on Demand back in July. TMO started the promotion after iPhone 6s was announced.

That is not a valid way to track the phone. They are having a lot of system issues so the true way to know if you are getting your phone is if you get charged the amount OR if you get an ammended EIP which states the IMEI number in your agreement.

Yea just be patient i order same model and color on sept 13th and i got my email and text with tracking info this morning

That sounds right... he's eating a huge loss with the trade-in though. Cause all the trade in ($350) covers is the EIP and new down payment of $100. (Mine is currently at $245)

But he pretty much eats the last 12 months of payments and whatever original down he put last year.
Which I think is ($100 down + ($31.25 X 12 = $375) =) $475 plus the tax of the device according to the numbers he is giving...

Still I guess it isn't "terrible" if you aren't the kind to just craigslist your device. He probably could have gotten around $600 on CL. and His loss would be a little smaller.

I got charged and I got the updated agreement showing the IMEI, but I'm still not sure that my phone is coming. LOL.
