After traveling in the Dallas FW area I am extremely impressed with T-Mobile 4G coverage. Again for the naysayers I did not encounter EDGE, and yes my travels were on the outskirts not the city. Going to Orlando in the morning.

Please don't come in here and prove anyone wrong. There's no way that you enjoy your service with T-mobile. Well that's what the morons in here want us to believe anyway lol.

Pretty funny given I'm posting on the Lumia 521 thread. Apparently coverage maps are hard for you to accept. if Tmobile works where you are trolling from again good for you. Try again Loca

I really could care less about what other thread you're posting in. You're an idiot point blank if you can't accept that T-mobile works as it is intended for some people. T-mobile has great coverage where I'm "trolling" from (DFW) by the way.

I have been having the best ever speeds are call quality in my life since switching to T-Mobile. I live in Denver and have never been able to have a reliable data connection at my house with either Verizon or AT&T. I had no choice but ti finally abandon AT&T in January and switch to T-Mobile. Best decision I ever made.

I finally get speeds of 4-9Mbps. It's so great that I tend to keep my WiFi off!

T-Mobile is doing something right. Wish I could have stayed with AT&T but when it takes 9 minutes to download one song, something is wrong.

Would love to hear from current T-Mobile customers using their service in Boston, LA, and NYC. I'm with AT&T right now but the T-Mobile $70 unlimited data plan has me thinking of switching.

Get the $60 better, b/c you'll be able to tether up to 2.5GB instead of the latter only 500MB

Terrible in Boston. Super spotty.

Can't comment on NYC and LA.

Why do you need two accounts to post basically the exact same thing?

Anyone have Tmobile in the south florida area? How's the service? Sprint internet is unusable

I pre-ordered 2 iphone 5's friday 4/5/2013 but had a credit card issue -- had to re-order them 4/10/2013. They transferred my cancelled order over and shipped my phone 4/11/2013 -- and I received it 24 hours later 4/12. The service was immediate and so was the carrier update.

Straight talk was taking their time porting my phone number over, so they called them with me on the line -- and within 3 minutes I had my phone number ported over.

I'm getting full bars & about HSPA+ 15 mbps at home in San Diego, CA -- where I used to get no more than 2-3 bars with AT&T/simple talk and no more than 2-3 mbps.

In short, I'm extremely happy with my switch back to t-mobile, as I had them 4 years ago with my blackberry. If you have any doubts about their network in SoCal, worry no more!

Sadly I switched from Tmo to Verizon and want to switch back!! :(:(:(
I am moving to San Luis Obispo though; any news of network and speed on Central Coast? ;)

Were you using the new T-mobile iPhone 5?

Why do TMo fans think that an AWS iPhone makes it better? Yes, you can connect to the AWS network, but let's not pretend that it is perfect. The network is still super spotty.

You can only account for some outskirts of Boston. I can account for a lot of cities and surrounding areas and they are not even close to being spoty. There is a world outside Boston.

In the UK T-Mobile offer the cheapest plans usually, but network coverage can be limited depending on where you are. They merged with Orange and became EE which improved that aspect but the merge has caused many problems amongst friends who still use them. I'm on O2 and haven't had many issues in the year I've been with them. I'd certainly consider EE in future if the problems have been ironed out and the price is right. :)

This is very true. I travel extensively throughout the US and in most medium to large cities I get great T-Mobile service. It's those long stretches between metro areas that cause difficulties. I can live with 2G since I have a Verizon iPad but having no voice service is an issue. I'm thankful I have an Android device that supports wifi calling and can use the Verizon iPad hotspot feature for those no T-Mobile voice areas.

Cheers,

I switch From ATT to Tmobile yesterday and I couldn't have been happier :). Call quality and data are fantastic compare to ATT

Someone is getting clever. It's not just outside of Boston. Its the whole Northeast. Yes, outside of NYC too. TMo is so fantastic that they have EDGE up, whereas the competition has no issue deploying LTE

The fact that the other guy has to carry around a VZW and WiFi call with his TMo phone proves the point that TMo is pathetic. Why is there a need to carry around two devices when you can have one that works? Whatever cost savings (something you guys love to harp on about) you get are gone.

(you're)

to call out your BS. why else? Funny how you constantly lie, but then you can get called out, there is no response. But, of course, it doesn't stop you from parading about TMo every chance you get. ;)

T-Mobile would have to get a lot more coverage and more LTE for me to leave AT&T with my great coverage on my IP5 for me to leave, besides, their Family plan with unlimted TXT, Voice, and 4G is not all that cheap at $150.00 besides on AT&T I get to use Host Spot on all phones up to my 4GB plan, I am not cut off at 500MB per line, what a Croc that is? My AT&T Plan costs $28 more but for the coverage and ability to have WiFi HS on all devices up to 4GB, T-Mobile still has a long way to go before I switch.

T-Mobile does work well in some areas. It could be that's the case for him. And the price difference is significant. If you live in a decent area and have 5 lines on Smartphones the difference can be almost $200 a month less than AT&T or Verizon.

That makes a huge difference for some people. It might mean being willing to live with spotty coverage in some areas.

Cheers,

Whenever T-Mobile gets HSPA along interstates then they might be viable. Edge down I-95 in the whole Southeast except Florida is ridiculous.

Indeed for your use T-Mobile is probably not the way to go but for people who have lower data needs T-Mobile is significantly less expensive. Consider that for 5 lines you pay $110 a month and get unlimited everything but 4G data is limited to 500MB per line. For many this is more than enough, however, assuming you have 2 lines that might need an additional 2GB of 4G data that would add $20 per month for a total of $130 per month. This is a lot less than any other carrier for 5 lines and represents most casual users, especially professionals that might be carrying parents or kids (assuming you restrict their access to certain streaming services) who have less data use.

I agree, the interstate issue is certainly something T-Mobile needs to work on. I live with but only by tethering to a Verizon iPad plan that's a $10 add-on to someone else's account. It doesn't happen often enough to suck up too much of his shared data but it does point out a significant T-Mobile deficiency.

Cheers,

The major flaw in the shared data plans for me is if you have some users who use decent amounts of data. It works well if you've got family members with dumbphones or some who barely use data on their iPhones.

4 people who use an average of 3-4gb each per month can be extremely expensive. To the point where the cost of the monthly bill is just stupid. I found it better when each user was able to have their own data allotment. Then with Verizon having LTE everywhere I found myself using more and more data, I would have gladly paid if they had some sort of unlimited data plan even with a throttled soft cap of say 5GB or something.

Actually I have 3 lines and we use roughly just over 1.8GB in total, but my concern is more the coverage then it is the cost. If I can not make a call or access data, there is no point in me switching anyway. I do understand there are those who will benefit greatly from T-Mobile, however most of us will not. I do not think that even if VZ and AT&T decided to do what T-Mob has with no contract, we will be any better off than we are now, they just are all trying to rub the sub-pricing off on us, so I can see them not doing reduced sub pricing and keeping the same cost for their plans, they pay a lot when they sell an iphone 5 for example, so push cost off to consumers, and they will make more $

I am with T-Mobile in NYC, they are pretty good, I get 4G pretty much everywhere, and LTE in a handful of locations, I travel frequently between Queens, Brooklyn and Lower/Midtown Manhattan. Speeds are decent, and I am satisfied with their service.

So far there have been an area or two where there is EDGE, that was inside a section of a huge BJ's store, which I wasn't really expecting there to be 4G or LTE service. I wouldn't call the service spotty, but more like a boundary in this case. I also go to school in a building with thick concrete walls, unfortunately getting the AWS iPhone did not solve the data coverage issue there, there seems to be GPRS service in there where O shows, which is worse than EDGE. If anybody else is in NYC, the 57th Street station on the F line which does have wireless service seems to only give me EDGE.

So other than those few locations, and switching to an AWS iPhone, I haven't seen EDGE in quite a while anywhere else.

If we are talking call quality, I had gotten a taste of AT&T, their signal strength is definitely higher inside buildings. T-Mobile's signal strength is still lower despite these improved data services, which is anywhere from 1-3 bars lower. Calls do sometimes get garbled if the signal strength isn't good. Thankfully, thats not frequent. In my opinion, AT&T and Verizon would be ideal as a business class carrier, T-Mobile is fine for casual conversations with family/friends.
