I found this on the t-mobile tablet web page. Seems to clear up a lot of the confusion.

I went to tmobile's site and they don't even have 64gb ipad air only 16&32. If it stays like this I will just wait and go buy a wifi version

Bummer. T-Mobile's uncarrier is very carrier charging $10 to access "on demand" data. You'll be looking at paying $10 + monthly payment + data.

Shame.

Just activated my $.99 SIM card I got from the T-Mobile website last week in my own iPad 4. Quick and easy with no credit card just email, address and DOB. I now have my free 200 MB a month and get quick 15 MBS LTE Download speeds in the Sacramento, CA area.

Ain't that a shame..it forces you into the $10 monthly on demand plan if you're not a customer.

I'm pretty sure that's only if you finance the iPad. There are lots of people reporting that they bought iPads from Apple and that they work on the T-mobile data.

They have to make money somehow? I might very well be mistaken, but it seems that they can't just go around giving everybody free two year loans on iPads. They want you to be a customer to finance and the cheapest plan is $10/mo. But if you're not a customer and buy the iPad somewhere else, you're still gonna get the free data.

You only pay the $10 a month if you are NOT an existing T-Mobile customer and want to finance your iPad.

If you are an existing T-Mo customer AND finance your iPad you will get a $10 credit on your bill.

If you are not an existing T-Mo customer and buy your iPad at full-retail you do NOT pay the $10 and do in fact get the 200mb free.

Hopefully this super clears it up
